vCops 5.8 - vCenter operations Analytics

Hello

I get Administrative alert suite and could not find any solution in the VMware community.  Is there a limit to the number of resources supported by vCops Advanced Edition?

Thank you

Louis

SUP: [VCOPS] new alert Type: administrative, Sub-Type: State: warning, type: analytical, administrative system, name: vCenter operations Analytics

Info: number of resources exceeds the supported limit.

Alert type: administrative
Alert subtype: administrative system
Alert: WARNING
Resource type: Analytics
Name of the resource: vCenter operations Analytics
Alert ID: 1912521

There is a standard resource limit variable in a configuration file that can be modified. There are a few non-Community articles that cover it. In a quick search I give this:

  • How to remove vCenter Operations Manager to the extent of consumption?

    Hello

I imported data from metering 3.3.2 to 3.4. Collection fails:

'No info extension Operations Manager for xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx vCenter we didn't took a vCenter Server.

There was a vCops a long time ago, but it has been uninstalled for a long time according to the removal instructions (VMware KB2036389) including the defection of the extension.

Manage / products a buttons only rebuild and change to vCops, but how can I remove vCops to operate the data collection?

Note: You mentioned that you had already registered vCOPs/vROPs with vCenter. If this is the case, then you can skip step 1.

Here are the steps that I followed which allowed me to delete a previously docommissioned vCOPs/vROPs vCLUM server.

    1. make sure that the server vCOPs/vROPs is more entered with vCenter

    2. in the portal web vCLUM, click Manage in the top right

    3. make sure that the products tab is selected

    4. click on the checkbox Show inactive

    5. click on the button delete next to the vCenter your old server vCOPs/vROPs was previously attached (you will get a prompt saying that it will not remove the vCenter if he he already asked for data)

    6. Finally, click Activate next to the vCenter.

    I hope this helps!

    What's new:

    More flexibility with capacity planning

    • Capacity Assess risk and plan of distribution and effective demand: define your varied business needs-based strategies to assess the risk of the capacity, efficiency and forecasts. For example, different pads, too commit thresholds of alert, schedules, reports, etc., in production and test-dev environments.
    • New views for Cluster capacity risk: identify quickly via color view of risk of ability to Cluster clusters grouped by commercial criteria, etc., are threatened by ability - right size faces a deficit of capacity now or in the near future, or all simply not.  Down for each cluster in Cluster mode risk detail to analyze what resource is forced on and why.
    • New common environments and workloads policies: new policies of out-of-the-box, such as the Production and Test-Dev strategies, enable a quick installation of the capability settings of Operations Manager to vCenter for types of common environments. Additional new out-of-the-box policies, such as batch workload, interactive workload and political to ignore the virtual machines, help to refine the ability of law with precision settings dimensions and analyze different workloads based on their performance characteristics.

    Improved self-monitoring

This version introduces new diagnostic measures to monitor the health and availability of the components of Operations Manager vCenter, such as analytical, collector, Active MQ, Web server, database, and operating system.

Widgets with flexibility and ease of use

    • Health Tree Widget: facilitate the visualization for a large number of objects.
    • Generic Widget Scoreboard: graphics support Sparkline, metrics channel and filtering by resource settings.
    • Metric Sparkline Widget: configurable color ranges and units, are supported for the type of resource and the label.
    • The resource widget: customizable to add parameters beyond health.

    VMware vCenter Navigator Infrastructure-filtering capacity

You can configure display it resources discovered by vCenter Infrastructure Navigator in vCenter Operations Manager. This version introduced a feature of configurable Infrastructure Navigator vCenter adapter filtering to control the service and Application reporting of Application resources. For each resource type, you can set up a "black list" or "whiteList" filtering in the filterList.txtconfiguration file.

    • black list: the Infrastructure Navigator vCenter adapter ignores the specified entries. If a name of Service Application or an Application name is included in the "black list", it is not reported by the adapter to Infrastructure Navigator vCenter. It is the default setting. The Infrastructure Navigator vCenter adapter filters unknown names of default Application services.
    • white list: Infrastructure Navigator vCenter adapter reports only the specified entries. If there are no entries added to the white list mode, none of the resources of the resource type matching appear.

  • vCenter operations and Active Directory

    Hello

It is said in the vmware documentation recommends using AD users to work with vCenter operations but I can't find the procedure to integrate?

    does anyone know the procedure?

    Thank you very much

You should be able to access the user interface using your accounts of vsphere vCenter, however if you set up a new role with specific permissions, make sure that the "Global > vCenter Operations Manager Admin" or "Global > vCenter Operations Manager User" privelge is enabled for these roles.

  • Instalation Vcenter operation - CapacityIQ

    Hello!

This my first post and in the community, I ask the help of community members to help me with a question about CapacityIQ.

I need to install a tool in my environment and after several searches, I don't know who will meet CapacityIQ issues reports and capacity planning for virtual machines. So I downloaded the version file OVF (VMware vCenter Operations Manager 5.6) and run the tool installation and applied as manual vmware license. The problem is that the tool report not all installed capacity report feature, much less any "flap" of capacityIQ

    My information to the environment:

  • License file not found - VCenter operations 5.6

I have improved my VCenter Operations Manager 5.0.3 version 5.6 using the upgrade package.

Once the upgrade has completed, I registered VCenter operations to my server VCenter (version 5.0.0) by clicking Update in the Administration of the VCenter operations.

He updated the registration successfully and will post it plugin installed in VCenter Plug In - Manager (VCenter Operations Manager version 5.6.0.923459 shows as active in Plug Ins).

I see that the new license files are in C:\Program Files\VMWare\Infrastructure\VirtualCenter Server\licenses\site in the form of 5 new files by the name of license-vco-56-e1-51-201203

I think you are using the vC Ops Suite Lic. The now can be used only on vCenter 5.1 Lic.

You must get the independent vC Ops Lic if you use vCenter 5.0

Hi Jim, looking to the correct download.

  • API for vCenter Operations Manager

Is there an API published for interaction with vCenter Operations Manager?  The tool generates wonderful data sets, and it would be extremely useful to publish these data on a customer portal for the presentation.  Is this possible now or is on the roadmap?  Any help is appreciated.

    There are:

If you hit it with a simple browser, it gives you documentation.

  • vCenter operations still shows vmotioned s VMS on host origin

    Hi all

After that the migration of computers from one host to a different vCenter operations still shows these s VM on their original hosts. How can I get vCenter operations to pick up this change?

    Thanks in advance.

    Rob Cawood

    Hi Rob,

We have seen cases in the past where operations vCenter inventory may be out of synchronization with the server vCenter for a period of time inventory. Both should get back in sync in an hour. If a time is too long a restart delay, as you discovered, gets the two back in sync.

    Thank you!

  • VMware vCenter operations

    Hello

VMware vCenter operations was released March 9.

  • vCenter Operations Manager doesn't show any new virtual machines added

    Hi all

I have a 5.5U2 of vSphere environment coupled with Operations Manager 5.8.4 vCenter in this environment, I have a strange behavior as new created virtual machines are not directly shown in the tree view of the infrastructure. Sometimes they raise within the hour, sometimes, others may need several days to appear.

If I want an immediate reflection of VMS in vCenter, I have the best "Workaround", I tried to restart the services Operations Manager vCenter virtual machine of the user interface.

All components are registered in DNS names, I checked that all entries are correct, that is the case. And they can be solved.

Operations Manager vCenter is secured by a member of MS internal CA of an Active Directory domain.

After "googleing"I've seen a similar question on hosts that are not visible, but not the VMs."

Some of you have already experienced this kind of questions?

    Thanks for your comments,

    Michael

As reported by the VMware support, it's normal behavior with this version of vCOPS. Switch to the 6.x version to solve the problem.

  • Updated VMware vCenter Operations Manager tools

Hello everyone, I just use Citrix Xenserver to VMware vCenter with Operations Manager 5.8.4.  I've looked everywhere and cannot find an answer to this.  Is it possible to update VMware tools in the vCOPS TIME?  I just started my new environment with v8 of Veeam backup and he lets know me that VMware tools are outdated.  The only reason why I ask because, coming from Citrix Xenserver v6.2, whenever a device from the virtual computer is provided by Citrix, you're stuck with the tools provided in this unit until they update the device.

If it's good to update the VMware tools, it's as simple as opening the console to each virtual machine in the vApp and he tell the ' Install/Upgrade Vmware Tools?  Or is there a more complicated step?

    Thank you

    Brett

As far as I KNOW, the VMware tools upgrade is not recommended on vCops.

This breaks the device and you can ignore the message of the VMware tools obsolete.

  • vCenter operations

Just curious to hear how people go with the vCenter demonstration operations.

I usually prepare you a little bit of cpu and latency on the opportunities on the drive, but vCOP is showing the network problems, which are new to me. A host will often red, and in further investigation, it shows the host 100% I/O Net and is "bound by: Net i/o" in the summary workload.

It happens on a few different hosts, with a couple of the virtual machine in the culpret.

It reflects very different values for the basic usage from say vSphere performance dashboards.

The doco does not really explain what mean all values and the pretty pictures...

It's pretty, but not sure the utility.

He also seems to be 1:1 with a vCenter - so if you run multiple vCenters, do you need multiple vCOPS?

I heard the Enterprise version can be able to support multiple vCenters - it may be worth the wait.

It also appears that his repositioning of the product acquired vs new development - somebody knows if it has been upgraded or just a VMW sticker on it?

  • VCOPS + re-installation vCenter

    Hi all

I have a question 'bit '... I would spend my vCenter from physical to virtual, but I do not want to reinstall vCOPS, Infr'action. Browser and rebilling.

The new vCenter will have the same settings of the former vCenter (certificates, IP, ecc.) and will connect to the DB even.

It is possible to migrate in these terms without problems?

    Thank you all!

    Matrix

If you run the migration steps, you will use the same DB and SSL keys, so it wouldn't matter to the other components of VMW. You will implement the new vCenter and also your organizational structure will be preserved. Fortunately, you can test it again and again with a food safe... e.g. the old server.
