Video display on a drive connected to an extreme AC?

I have an extreme AC and would like to connect an external hard drive with a lot of videos of children.

1. is there a way to watch videos on the disc on an iPhone and iPad?

2. must long for a reader to wake up to the top and start the video playback when connected to the extreme?

Thank you.

AirPort Extreme base stations can only share on an external drive for storage. But there is no media server services. That, you cannot use it to stream movies to clients on the network (devices iOS, PC, Mac, etc.)

For broadcast, you must at least three things:

  1. A media server. Plex would be an example. However, you will need to run a Mac or a PC. Plex can then be configured to access a network drive to find multimedia content.
  2. A wired or wireless that can access the client & server.
  3. A media player. It could be your iOS devices running a Plex client application.

To answer your second question, it depends on the firmware of the player. The other thing to consider is the rate of transfer of limited data from a drive is connected to the USB v2.0 port. You can find cela the bottleneck to smooth streams.

Best solution, while more expensive, to use a dedicated NAS device which provides integrated media and iTunes servers. With a camera, something like the Synology DS215J connected to your extreme by Ethernet, you would storage & media server.

  • Video display Windows 2003 driver

I installed windows 2003 Standard Edition on my Toshiba A75-S211.
W2003 does not recognize the graphics card ATI (ATI Radeon 9000 IGP), so the display is configured as a Standard VGA graphics card and the max resolution is 1024 by 768 pixels.
Has anyone installed windows 2003 standard edition on this laptop and solved this problem?

    Thank you.

    Hi, Carlos

No I didn't install it on this model, but have you tried to "force" the driver for Windows XP on the system? More traditional XP drivers seem to work, but they could not automatically be accepted because they are not signed for this version of the operating system.

    Try it, it might work.

    Good luck

  • Time Machine won't see drive connected to Airport Extreme

I have a MacBook Pro 2009 (5,5), El Capitan running. I just replaced the HD with an SSD. The OWC kit, I bought came with a USB for my old HD box. I want to use this drive as my Time Machine as my old drive to WD firewire crapped out. The old MBP disk is inside OS X extended (journaled) formatting and goes up as a network drive in my finder when it is connected to my Airport Extreme. Time Machine won't see unless it is connected directly to the USB port on the MPB.

The first thought that comes to mind here is to make sure that you have the latest version of 'tour' of the AirPort Extreme, which officially supports Time Machine backups on a drive to the USB port of the device.

    Is this the case?

All the old 'flat' or 'square' of the AirPort Extreme versions don't support officially the backups Time Machine on a drive to the USB port on the device... even though we used to see messages from time to time users who claimed that it worked for them... at least for a while before he didn t.

  • Satellite L650 - 1 MM-video display problem

    Greetings from Finland.

So, about a month I bought this laptop of mine, Satellite L650 - 1 MM, and I was wondering what the heck is the problem with the video display. Don't know about you is this a problem with the hardware or just something with the settings on the computer. I mean, even on youtube, that so I got pixelated image when I look at some 720 p HD videofootage, it hurts. Here's some evidence: [http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/6623/youtubena.jpg] and Yes, I got the last Flash Player plug-ins and everything, so it couldn't be her.

And perhaps, eventually, when I look at some * movies, series tv or something, they looke all so pixelated. And I know that there are codecs and everything, but I'm positive, I got all this managed. In fact, at the beginning I had the worst of the video display, but with the codecs I got a little better. Yet, I am far from satisfied. Now, I heard that there could be some problems with Windows 7 and display video, but you know, is not certain.

So basically I'm here to exclude the possibility that there could be some problems with the equipment. Could there be? The screen looks fine, when normally at idle and for example surf the net, but the streaming videos or watch videos, oh man, oh man, it's so pixelated. I have the latest Toshiba display drivers, BIOS drivers too. It would be any help, if I have the latest drivers directly from the AMD website (Ati Mobility Radeon HD 5650)? Does still? I mean when Toshiba updates their own display drivers and everything, and very rarely what I heard.

Here are my features of laptops:
    Satellite L650 - 1 MM
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
    BIOS-version 1.80
    Intel Core i5 CPU M460 @ 2.53 GHz
    4096 MB RAM
    HARD DRIVE ~ 600 GB
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 version = 8.723.2.0
    15 "6, 1366 x 768
    True color (32 bit)
Conexant Audio Driver for AMD HDMI Codec version = 4.98.26.0

So please, if there is any suspicion you can give me, I would much appreciate it!

    Ed.
Also, just remembered, that I had one more problem. When connecting HDMI to my HDTV 40 ", and when I close the screen of my laptop, the sound starts to bug and in some cases video too. So I have to keep my laptop open screen, so I can watch movies without any problem sound or video. What is with that?

    Hi mate

To be honest, I don't think that it is a problem of display driver.
You have this problem of pixel, I look at the videos of internet only or also if watch you DVD movies?

Did you watch the video in continuous mode full screen?

The videos are usually pixeled because of videos were recorded in low resolution or have been compressed to reduce the resolution to reduce the size of the file.

  • Importing video on external hard drive

How to import videos in iMovie that are already on an external hard drive (connection) Thunderbolt. I don't want to move them on HD of the Macbook Air.

    Icebear Hello!

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I see you want to access the video files on an external hard drive and not to transfer to the HD on your MB Air. You must import the video into your iMovie library to work with it, but what you can do is move your iMovie library to an external hard drive. Here are some articles on how to do it, according to the version of iMovie that you use.

  • How can I change the video display Mode when the monitor mode not supported?

While creating my new monitor, I changed the computer video display mode at 120 Hz by accident.  Now I see something on the monitor other than the words not taken in CHARGE the MODE.

My system is a new HP Pavilion p7-1423W running Windows 8.1 with Intel i5-2320 3 ghz

I tried the start mode by pressing ESC on power but do not help the startup options.  And the just F11 menu option makes the startup screen disapear and puts the monitor mode not supported.  Tapping F8 doen't work and tapping F12 just puts me in the bios menus that do not help.

How can I upgrade the video card integrated with a video mode that is supported when I can't see the screen?

I answer my own question because I found my solution, thanks to my grandson (freshman to Renselear Politech).

I shoot to buy a monitor that displays a refresh rate of 120, so I could put my rear view.

    Here is the solution.

My computer double exit DVI.  My grandson told me to connect my new monitor to the other output because the output does not get touched when I changed the original mode of production.  He has worked and is automatically selects the default monitors mode.  Then I've reconfigured the original output using the integrated display software. Solved!

  • Windows XP does not display the available wireless connections

I formatted my hard drive and created two partitions. Then I installed Windows XP in one of them and Vista in the other. Then only under Vista the network card works and I see all kinds of connections available. Where, in Win XP it will not display the available wireless connections. I have tried everything to try to activate my net work card but can't find a way to do it. Maybe Win XP a clean installation driver missing. Does anyone have any ideas? I have studied all the forums and that you can't find the answer.

Thanks for all the ideas that I could research.

  • Hi I reinstalled my Win XP Home because the current drive was getting old. But I installed it on a new hard drive connected as "Slave" but now he can't start

I have connected the new hardrive as a 'slave', re-installed my Win XP even & re-patched everything on it including SP3, programs & ups back-ups, but oh no! the new hard drive when it is plugged in as a 'master', it does not start!

But with the old hard drive connected as long as 'master', I have the option of "dual boot".

I guess because my new drive is not a reader of "system"? I can see that my old drive is listed as 'system '. How to make my other even without having to re - install all over again? Thank you!

    Hi Fishlipps,

Thanks for posting. Most likely you see it as your boot.ini is located on a drive corresponding to your system on a different drive. The easy way to do this would be to reinstall or do a repair on the computer installation. Please make a backup before attempting this.

    1.

When the message Press any key to boot from the CD appears on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.

    2.

When you see the message to install Windows XP nowand then press ENTER is displayed on the Welcome to the Setup screen, press ENTER.

    3.

Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console.

    4.

In the Windows XP licensing agreement, press F8 to accept the license agreement.

    5.

Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP.

    6.

Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

Another option would be to modify the boot.ini located directly on the root of your drive. Below is a knockout with instructions on how to do it. However please backup all your data by doing one of them because both can make your computer unbootable.

I use Vista and want to backup all my pictures and video on a flash drive.  How can I do this?

The simplest and most reliable way is also the fastest and safest:

    (1) connect your Flash drive

    (2) open your pictures folder and the Flash Drive file side-by-side

    (3) drag your photos into the Flash drive

  • I need the video/display drivers for my Dell Inspiron 6000 with Windows 8.

I need the video/display drivers for my Dell Inspiron 6000 with Windows 8.  Laptop is the Intel Pentium M processor 2.00 GHz RAM, operating system, 32-bit on x 86.  My resolution is not at the right level and videos have hard play.

    Resolved - finally

    2 essential steps
    1 https://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?c=us&l=en&s=gen&docid=DSN_179256&isLegacy=true#Issue5
Reconstructions of Dell should be loaded in a particular order until the drivers are installed, that is to say the controllers then the drivers for the chipset and resolution etc. They are specific to this.
    then;
2 CharlesGrimes comment '... ". searching on my computer for the Dell under the old windows files and the old drivers were loaded. "I had tried this but not good. So went into a ghost of Dell image when the resolution was good on Win7, recovered files in windows/System32, which has old drivers. Does the update in graphic cards [Device Manager] driver and manually looked through above the files recovered from previous instal win7 and YES they charge this time.
Oh what a relief to have a higher resolution. Experience had taught me how snappy Win8 is, I picked up a shortened bunch of ways to circumvent the operating system, and it is growing on me. WIN8 Pro works best on this old machine than its original Home XP and Win7.
Thank you Carlos and others for your info that led to my positive resolution.

  • All the sites SSL Web I visit displays the message "this connection is untrusted" and shows me a false SSL certificate for a different domain name.

When I visit a Web site that requires SSL I displays the message "this connection is untrusted". Any Web site that I visit, it's always exactly the same message and the same SSL certificate that she is no longer valid for www.thawte.com

support.Mozilla.org uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not approved, because no sender string has been provided.
The certificate is valid for www.thawte.com
The certificate expired on 11/11/2011 23:59. The time now is 11:46 28/01/2012.

When I click "Add the Exception" on a Web site and view the certificate, it is exactly the same certificate with the exact same serial number.

I had a similar problem with Internet Explorer showing a 404 error when I visited SSL protected pages but to do a restore of the system a month ago to correct this. All other bowsers are / were very good.

I installed Firefox 3.x month last to test something that is when the problem started. I have since uninstalled Firefox 3.x and reinstalled the latest version. I deleted all the preferences/settings, disabled modules and reinstalled many times. I did a Windows system restore to before that the problem started with no luck.

The time / Date on my computer are correct. I have no firewall other than the windows one. I had no antivirus (netbook) until I installed a (Avast) yesterday to see if a virus was causing issues (found nothing). This problem arises on any internet connection (tested to work and home).

    Try bypassing the caveat

or try to use the module Skip Cert error (to jump to the SSL/TLS certificate error page)

  • Password protect an external hard drive connected to Time Capsule

I have a WD passport external hard drive connected to my time capsule, so my wife and I can easily share files. I have the external hard drive connected through the locked time capsules WiFi network so someone in the House can not access however if they walked the time capsule and not plugged in the external hard drive they could walk away with it. When I try to password protect external hard drive then time capsule may not recognise, and so I can't use it as an external hard drive that is shared. No one knows how, to password protect the external hard drive connected to the time capsule as if someone physically stole the external hard drive it would be locked, but have yet still recognizable by Time Capsule when I plugged?

    Hope that makes sense.

The only way to do is to encrypt the files on the computer.

And you both use the same password. Unfortunately, this probably means that you can not share files directly... The TC is not a SIN... never, it was designed for this purpose so there no controls to help admin file sharing.

If you create a DMG file on WD drive that encrypt you and you can copy files to and from... but only one at a time.

Another method would be to use a specific software... Watch chronosync.

    http://www.econtechnologies.com/Chronosync/guide-sync-with-disk-image.html

I don't him have not run in this configuration... so, you have to experiment if it manages what you want.

I think that there will always be limitations on concurrent access from multiple computers.
