Video of flickering on Alienware M17XR3

Hi, I have an Alienware M17XR3 screen flashes up and down.  I updated all my drivers and even took the video card and cleaned a put back.   But still get this glitter.  No one knows what is the cause and may help.

Thank you

Joe

Hi, Wingnutt99

I got exactly the same problem as well. Try to right click on your desktop and select screen resolution then advanced settings. In the "Monitor" tap water, try to change your "screen refresh rate". Mine was at 60 Hertz and I changed it to 40 Hertz, and the problem was solved. I hope this works for you also. Let me know if it worked. :)

  • Video glisten with AMD Radeon HD6870 on Alienware M17XR3

    Hello

This is my first post on these forums, so I apologize if this is in the wrong location or format and whatnot.  Thanks in advance for all recommendations.

I have an Alienware M17XR3 with switchable graphics; AMD Radeon HD 6870 (9.3.0.0) and Intel HD 3000 IGP.

When you use the AMD card, I get horizontal video flickering along the top and half inch (felt) of the background screen.  When I switch to the IGP, the graphics are fine (other than to not be able to run intensive graphical applications).

There is a bit of new pilots, but as soon as they are installed, Windows Update tries to "update" to the version mentioned above.  This is a common complaint with graphic patterns switchable.

Now here's where it gets weird.  I started to run some diagnostics with the ATI-tool ""-> "Scan for artifacts", and as soon as I kick off, the flicker disappears.  Until this discovery, I took the card simply become badly inserted or something.  And it still may be the case.  But it's really weird.

So, if I use the AMD driver, running ATI tool, I can run any application, set apart from the fact that the use of the GPU spikes at slightly less than 100%, which is undesirable for other reasons.

Does anyone have an idea of what these symptoms could point to?

    Thanks again.

I actually figured this out with a lot of trial and error.

It turns out that the issue has been the driver of Windows Update for video cards.

If you ignore the drivers from Windows Update and download directly from the site of AMD, things seem to work well.

I think the problem is that there are newer versions of the available driver that Windows Update tries to shoot, but they do not work due to the switchable graphics, if something is corrupted.

If you have questions, just reformat and reinstall the OS, then hide the Windows graphics updates and manage them manually.

  • Video and sound on Alienware x 51

I got an Alienware x 51 for a few years already and have always noticed that there are two size HDMI ports in the back.  The manual of the these calls the 'edge' (on the motherboard) port and the port "discreet" (nVidia video card).  I currently have the computer connected to a bar that works then to a TV.  HDMI is my preferred connection type as the Soundbar is not equipped with too besides for the entry.

Initially, I plugged the HDMI in the quiet port in order to use the video card.  But I noticed by doing this, I have not received any sound.  This kind of sense to me, it's a video card.  But it beats type of the object to a HDMI connection.  Then try the integrated HMDI port gave me both sound and image.  I used this connection for the length of time I've owned the system.

In diagnosing another problem recently, I received your comments that I don't actually use the video card.  Their logic makes sense, I'm not connected to the discreet port.  Without knowing how the internal mechanisms work, I can't say with certainty.

I have two questions for someone competent with the Alienware x 51 and it's dual HDMI output:

    1. By using the HDMI Board, am I without going through the video card completely and by using the (I imagine most rudimentary) integrated graphics capability?  The system always use the video card and switch the output via the on-board HDMI?
    2. If I am without going through the video card using the integrated HDMI output, how can I use the video card (and discreet HDMI port) and get her out of the system?  Is this possible?

Sorry if these are stupid questions, I know a bit about computers.  I did a lot of research on this topic, watched videos of Alienware on the connections and I've seen a few posts on Dell for similar subjects.  But I didn't get answers to the foregoing specifically.  I would like to know how it works.

    Thank you!

  • Where can I buy a new video card for my Alienware M17x R3?

    Hello

I have a videocard of 660 m which seems to now be on his way.  To make a long story short - it seems to be appearing and disappearing from my device manager.  I have two OS on my system, and it does not show even in the other when it becomes capricious.

in any case - where can I buy a replacement?  If I have to spend $$ I might as well update if possible.  On the forums, I noticed that it is possible to buy one directly from Alienware?

  • I presume that the motherboard is the cause of the failure of the video card on my alienware aurora desktop. Where can I buy a motherboard for this system?

HI: Blues ray and dvd drives work. I checked the raid drives, test of redundancy having failed, too bad sectors. I presume that the motherboard is defective in this case for the video card failure. I see some white corrosion around the battery from the motherboard. I put other work disk drives into the slots on the drive. Where can I buy or upgrade the motherboard for this system? Thank you.

The network cable is not shining, which confirms that the motherboard does not work.

  • Flashing/flickering screen alienware 15r2

    Hello world.

I just got my new Alienware 15 R2 and I accidentally push the Fn + key instead of the key Fn + F12 break

    My screen then start flashing

I try to restart, close and then restart, change the rate of the monitor, update the drivers for the monitor software. But it continues to blink.

I hope that this can be corrected.

If someone has had this problem or can have an answer please tell me.

    Hello

Try reinstalling the drivers for the Intel and NVidia/AMD. Two of them first uninstall and restart the system. Install the Intel driver first, restart the system and install the driver NVidia/AMD. You can download the drivers from the Dell support site.

  • Pavilion dv6 laptop unable to see video - audio flickers OK Windows 7 IE9

I'm able to view the video such as episodes of TV series. I don't know when the problem started, but I think that it is after I've updated for IE9. I ran both 32 and 64 bit, but no luck. I checked with HP to update the drivers and updates

Adobe Flash Player to the latest version.

    Hello

Check the following if you use IE9.

Open windows control panel, open Internet Options and click the Advanced tab.  Under the graphic acceleration, make sure you there is not a tick against 'use made instead of GPU Rendering software.  If it is, uncheck the box and click on apply to save the change.  Restart IE.

If the above doesn't help (or does not), download the latest installer of Flash Player and save it to your desktop (I realize that you already have the latest version, but it may be best to completely uninstall before reinstalling the latest version).  Then, close all browsers, open windows control panel, open programs and features and uninstall Flash Player.  Once completed, restart the laptop.  Now, double-click on the Setup program on your desktop to reinstall Flash Player.

Another option is to download and install Firefox as a temporary measure, as the latest version of Adobe Flash seems to work OK with that - you may need to run the installer of Flash again after installing Firefox.

    Kind regards

  • HP probook 450 G2: flickering horizontal lines on the screen while watching the video after water damage

    Hello

My father accidentally threw a glass of cola on my computer, on my keyboard. I was able to turn my laptop upside down very quickly and went out of the battery. I then let dry for 24 hours. At first glance the damage seemed limited to my keyboard that I already replaced. Everything else seems to work very well (sound, touchpad, usb ports, hdmi, dvd drive port) until I watched a video. Flickering horizontal lines appeared in the background, which are only slightly visible. Lines do not appear when I'm surfing the internet, playing games, or when I do no matter what other casual stuff. I also don't see any flickering lines when I connect to my laptop to an external display.

Does anyone have an idea on what the problem might be and what parts can I replace to fix this?

The unit to boot BIOS and check if you get all the lines. If you don't get all the lines in the BIOS screen,

then update the BIOS and chipset. But if the problem persists then you must send it to the service.

  • Repost - Alienware x 51 Question upgrade video card

Sorry for spam... Accidentally, I posted in the dell forums.

    Hello world

So, with cars of which will be released in March I thought to upgrade the video card in my Alienware X 51.  Unfortunately, I get some conflicting signals that I perform an Internet search on what cards will and work habit.  I'll definitely with Nvidea but where the concern comes is food.  My pc has a 330w power supply and I want to make sure that everything I buy will work correctly on this subject.  Also, there is a bit of a problem of space because I think that video cards up to 9.5 inches fits.  Correct me if I'm wrong on either, but I was wondering if you may be able to offer a video card for me.  I'm looking in the high-end 400.00.  Any help would be great!

    If it helps I currently GTX 555, i7-3770 w / 16 GB of ram, windows 7

Correction: you must have a 330w PSU to run a high range GPU, and you should have a power supply r2 card to launch the GTX 900 series (I hope not for the GTX 960, though).

R2 Power Board can be installed together with a card mother r1.

  • Video garbled after export - CC Pro encoding

I tried to export a file that is on Adobe first Pro CC 4000 MB; It is a H.264, 1080 p 23.976 FPS. The first time, it has exported the video was completely garbled. the second time half of the video has played well, and then it began to falter and he was completely jammed after. The audio works perfectly, it's just the video once it's coded, does not play well.

I shot with a DSLR Canon 1080 p 24 frames per second. The files are MOV.

I don't know what is happening. is this a bug? When I just changed, I noticed that my video editing flickered when I played it for a while. Does this mean that my file is corrupted? Should I copy and paste to a new sequence?

1038 is that still a number of problems for MPEG-based media.  I recommend you copy and paste all your clips in a sequence corresponding to your support.

Once that is done, try an another export.  You can add a crop 20 pixels high, and down in the export settings to get the desired proportions.

  • 1. to Stor.E TV is very glitchy

I bought the TV in Stor.E 1 TB a month ago, overall I am satisfied with the product but it is very glitchy.

Problems and bugs I have encountered:

    1. When you watch the videos, a flickering thin gray bar along the left side of the screen.
    2. sometimes, when a break of a video, the TV Stor.E is blocked and needs to be completely reset
    3. the audio and video installation folder often have to be reconfigured, because the drive attaches back by default frequently inside selections.

feel free to add your bugs and flaws to this list.

Maybe correct some elements if they never deliver an update of the firmware Toshiba

    Hi vox_1,

I m not Stor.E TV owner but have you already contacted an authorized service provider? Maybe that's not normal and can be fixed with a replacement or other food.

Just give them a call and let's wait to what they say on this subject. Technicians may try to fix for example and it s worth a try.

I hope someone can help me. I have a HP Altec running windows 7 and I have the following problem...

Looks like you may have a defective display unit. You can read other messages about similar problems with display.

  • Warranty days LAST do not know if I should pick it up!

    Hello

Today a tech came to replace the cable to my LCD because they thought it was broken. After that we replaced that the laptop has not yet begun. The technology called dell and they will pick up tomorrow to get it fixed. The last chance too because today is my LAST day of the guarantee.

After leaving I took apart and back together again and it works perfectly now. I tried for 2 hours to get back to the problem, but it still works perfectly.

Should I leave to pick up my laptop perfectly. IM so afraid the laptop will give the problem again tomorrow when Im out of warranty. He worked until the problem was gone and he returned again the next day.

Well, my motto is:-"do not fix what broke. I wouldn't send the computer in for repair.

But I will do my best to try to extend the warranty (if possible). If you send the computer to the repair shop, they will review it. Turn it on. Seeing that the computer is turned on and you've got the picture. They will put in a box and ship it back to you.

Let me know if you need anything that anyone else.
