  • Try to install on Vista SP2 KB915597, getting error code 80070670

    Hello

I tried to update Vista SP2 (with Ko 915597 - an update for the Defender) however it returns an error code of 80070670. What happened two or three times last week. Every time the patch installed ok afterwards. However, it is of course a problem somewhere, but where? I tried to search on the code of error on the net + of this Web site, but nothing helped.

In addition, Windows stops also recognize my Creative Zen MP3 player. In Device Manager, it appears as an MTP device with a yellow exclamation point and a "this device cannot start (Code 10)". I've especially tried to Fix It, but this requires Windows PowerShell (928439 KB) must be installed and it also settled with a 80070005 error code.

Sorry if the last piece of info belongs to another forum, but I believe that the problems are related (the same?).

Hope someone can help, as I'm getting a little frustrated.

    Thank you and best regards

Original title: error code 80070670 (under Vista SP2)

    Hi Robear,
I disabled Defender because the 3rd party software that I use was recommended to me as being superior to the Defender. But maybe this recommendation is outdated? I disabled Defender during my first installation of Vista, and 'yes' I have updated Defender on the first day without problems so far.

By the way my system has just updated this morning without any problems with three updates for Vista and one for the office.

Thank you for your efforts to help me beat this problem,

  • Unable to install Java, get error codes

My OS is Vista Home premium 32-bit with sp2 from Vista

Last night, I tried to install Java 6 Update 23. I had java 6 Update 22. So I deleted it via the function of Vista uninstall program. I rebooted after uninstalling. I then and manually removed all elements and Sun/Java files. I rebooted again

I went to the site of java and started the installation process

I was able to download the installation, but not able to install it

    The following message received

Cannot locate the network location %APPDATA%\protector.exe Error 1606

So I googled the Error 1606 and on the Microsoft site, it seemed to be a tool for the mistakes of 1606

So I tried to run this tool and then got an error code 2738, so was not able to run the tool

Error code 2738 looked up and he said something about the following dll files can not be registered

    They areandjscript.dll of vbscript.dll

So I joined two of them using the

Regsrv32 process. Both have shown now to be registered

But then when I went to run the correction tool to correctthe Error 1606, she always failed

I went ahead and even looked at the items of register which shall be fixed by the FIX IT tool for Error 1606 and the elements of the registry seem correct

I even tried to go back and install java and obtained once again that the errorcan not locate the network location %APPDATA%\protector.exe Error 1606

So I'm at a loss to know what to do next

It is the suggestion of Oracle/Sun: http://java.com/en/download/help/error_installshield.xml

This Fixit did you use http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2258121 orhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/886549 ? Have you checked the registry entries listed? (It may be legitimate differences on your system if you have moved the files like Documents). The FixIt must be performed on the account where you do the install. If you start in a standard user account and rise to an administrator by an account invite UAC, you must run the Fixit in the administrator account.

Java is happy to do an update on the spot; Perhaps you forgot something in the registry that is causing a problem.

My system (Vista 32-bit SP2) tried to install update KB980248 for several weeks, but I keep getting error code 80073712.  I tried to follow the directions on the site by running the system preparation tool update... did not work.  Then I tried to go back to a restore point and try the update again.  Yet once, didn't. I went back several restore points, but it has always failed.  I don't have an installation DVD, because it came with Vista preloaded.

Original title: installation server does not, DAX error external Exception C06D007E 16 August 2012

Booted up Thursday morning, Bureau seemed fine except for a box of "Windows Installer" which said it was "in preparation for installation." I let it run and after a long time, new box come saying "Install server answers do not." When I checked Windows Update, it says two files cannot be installed and gave error messages: 80070652 and 652. I continued to try to cancel the dialog of Windows Installer, nothing helps. Another Windows Installer box showed up after I tried to cancel the first area several times. It read: "the component you are trying to use is on a network unavailable resource. Click OK to try again or enter a different path to the folder containing the installation package 'Sparebackup.msi' in the box below. "A search failed to find the target source. Then an external exception DAX error C06D007E appeared. My Windows desktop or my Outlook e-mail program respond to my attempts to open (although I can access Outlook remotely via MS Explorer). I tried two times to do a restore to an earlier date and restore failed also to work. I have Vista Home Premium 6.0. I am a independent and without Windows Office, I'm dead in the water without any way to make my works projects.
