Vista upgrade to Windows 7

Hi, need help on the Windows 7 upgrade.

I did an upgrade from Vista HP for Windows 7 HP without reading the literature and realized I should have used the upgrade wizard to complete the task, ie remove the incompatible files etc and replace them with compatible.

But having already made this blunder, I wonder if I should do a clean install. If I do it again with a clean install can I reinstall the Toshiba Software preloaded on after installation?

Is there an another way to prefer to deal with this - perhaps already delt with on another thread.

Thank you

Fred

Hello

To be honest your ad is a little difficult to understand, but generally the upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 can be done without using the Toshiba drive, but the point is that it contains the tools you need from Toshiba. So I guess you miss now some Toshiba tools

If everything works fine now, it should be possible to install from the Web from Toshiba website. Otherwise, it would be necessary to recover to factory settings and then restart the upgrade.

By the way: it should first read the manual! ;)

Welcome them

Want to know if it's OK to upgrade Equium A200 with Vista to Windows 7
I ran the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. It lists several Toshiba applications and/or drivers with the comment "we have no information on this version of the program compatibility. It usefully links to the site of Toshiba Windows 7 Upgrade and finally at this link.

"For the Toshiba PC models listed below, Toshiba provides support 'Limited pilot' on a new installation of the operating system Microsoft Windows 7.

    No Equium model is listed.
That hell "limited support" means in what concerns the Equium A200 + Windows 7. IOW, is it OK to upgrade to Windows 7?

    TIA,
    Peter

    > That on Earth "limited support" means in what concerns the Equium A200 + Windows 7. IOW, is it OK to upgrade to Windows 7?

This means that not all or no drivers Win 7 for models that are not included in the list would be released.
There are two possibilities to install win 7.

-You can do a clean install.
This means to format the entire HARD drive and reinstalling Windows 7 on a fresh formatted partition or HARD drive.
In this case, you will need to install all the drivers

-You can do an update from Win Vista to Win 7
In this case that would be installed Windows 7 over Vista and that provide a benefit. Vista installed drivers (not all but a lot) can be used by Win 7.
As you know, many Vista drivers are compatible with Win 7 and it is why some Vista drivers can work on Win 7.

  • Windows Vista upgrade to Windows 10

can I switch from Windows Vista to Windows 10 one-step bypassing Windows 7, 8.1 etc.. ? For a free upgrade offer applies here?

    Hello

You must purchase an operating system to be upgraded, regardless of which path to take.

Depends on hardware configuration required on later operating systems, and also find out if the manufacturer of the laptop computer is supported and provides drivers for operating systems later as to whether it is possible or feasible to upgrade or not.

There is no free upgrade Vista to 7, 8.1, or 10.

Follow these steps before you buy Windows 7.

Microsoft sells more than 7; Try Amazon.com.

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

It seems to work fine and is not my level of performance of Windows 7, it's big, it's free. I guess my next question is how much cost it to move to W7 home premium?

All you need is a copy of the upgrade to Windows 7 Home premium. The price to
local stores or on the internet.

and it's worth on this machine?

This is, as always, a very difficult question, with different answers
for different people. Here is my opinion:

A change of the operating system should be driven by need, not only
because a new version is available. You have a problem
with Windows Vista you expect Windows 7 to solve? You have or
expect to get new hardware or software that is supported in Windows 7.
but not on Vista? Will there be a new feature in Windows 7 that you need
or aspire to? Your job required that you have skills in Windows 7? Are
you a computer lover who likes to play with what is most recent?
If the answer to any of these questions is Yes (and your
material is adequate for Windows 7), then you should get Windows 7.
Otherwise most people should stick with what they have. There are
always a learning curve and potential for problems when you take a
not too big, no matter how wonderful everything you are
contemplating moving to the East. Sooner or later, you will need to upgrade (to
Windows 7 or its successor) because you want to support for hardware
or software that you can't in Vista, but don't rush.

I say all the foregoing despite the fact that I'm a big fan of Windows 7. I have
It is the best and the most stable of all versions of Windows.

considering that I should add more memory.

Expected? If the performance of Vista are sufficient for what the computer
is used, it will be probably at least as good as Windows 7.
Unless you want to extend its uses, you probably have enough RAM.

  • HP Pavilion Entertainment PC: New HD/OS/VISTA/upgrading to Windows 7 the origin of freedom

OK here it goes. My friend had a HP, HD sound disappeared I can't even a dir to go up above. I put the recovery disk, they sent him to HP and just, he goes back to restart it then comes up with an error. I tried the Seagate Software and the HD has disappeared. Initially, it came with Windows Vista with a free upgrade to windows 7. I thought about putting another HD I got here which is windows vista, but the restore disc shows the Vista so it does not work.

If I put a new HD in, I use Vista disk, I think for his healing? The problem is how to move to windows 7? I have a copy of the upgrad to mine, although it is only 32-bit. This system is 64. It is out of warranty.

I'll enter the supporting figures to see if it appears there, which is highly unlikely.

  • Vista upgrade to windows 7 does not and could not roll back to vista

I bought a retail pack for the Windows 7 upgrade. I tried to install it yesterday evening - took to always (more than 4 hours) and froze in several places for more than an hour. At the last second stage (installation of windows features) - he crashed and closed. Reboot, it says "set to level failed - rolling to the previous operating system". After about 1/2 hour of rolling back - it crashed again - blue screen "STOP: c000021a.» System fatal error. Process of initial session or the processes of the system ended unexpectedly with an error code of 0 x 000000000 (0xc00000001 0x0010037c). system was stopped.

the laptop (a Dell Studio 1555) cannot be started and is not an operating system. A terrible catastrophe for what seemed like a simple upgrade. I followed all the instructions in the Windows tutorial "upgrade Windows vista to windows 7 ', no warning that I should set out a clean boot which I've since found in blogs. I'm mad at Microsoft for releasing a product that will destroy my system when you follow their instructions.

I obviously need to re - install an OS - my question is... I have an other laptop Dell Studio 1555 which came with windows 7 and I have the installation disc. Can I use this disc to do a fresh install on this laptop and use the product key that came with Windows 7 upgrade disc?

Otherwise, it will be a long and difficult process of re - install Vista, upgrade to SP1 and upgrade to Windows 7, and then potentially have fail again. Please notify.

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • Upgrade XP to Windows 7 Professional and Vista upgrade to Windows 7 family of versions for a family network.

We have two computers on a home network: I had built in 2008 with Windows XP and then I bought a HP on shelf with Vista for my children.  I connected them together; the XP pc is connected to the ADSL and the Vista pc gets access to the internet through the network as well as access to a wireless network laser printer.  I'm looking to upgrade to Windows 7.  I would like my own upgrade to Windows 7 Professional for my XP programs, etc. are always usable/accessible.  What I need to upgrade the computer Vista business, too, or can I just switch to the Home version, while keeping our network?

You will need to buy two separate editions of Windows 7. You'll have to do a custom installation of Windows XP without worrying, there is no way to upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7.

According to the edition of Windows Vista you have, you can do an upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7.

    The upgrade to Windows XP?

Please read these instructions carefully and completely before you begin installing Windows 7: there are important steps that you must follow to upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 in order to preserve your files and settings.

Before you begin, you'll need to backup all your data to an external storage device, and you will need all the installation discs for the programs that you want to keep. Please make sure that you have an external hard drive (see details below).

More detailed instructions are available at windows.microsoft.com/upgrade-windows-xp. Here are the basic steps.

    1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor (windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor) to see if there are known issues that may affect the installation and the question of whether you should install the version of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7.

2 back up your files and settings on an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer (windows.microsoft.com/windows-easy-transfer). If you do not have an external hard drive, you will not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. Alternatively, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick, CD or DVD.

    3. you will need to manually reinstall your programs, such as Microsoft Office, after I installed Windows 7. Gather the installation for your programs and all partner/license product key discs. You may be able to download programs from the Internet. For example, Windows Live Messenger can be installed from the download.live.com/messenger.

    4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)."

    5. when Windows 7 is installed, use Windows Easy Transfer to restore your files and settings.

If you are not comfortable Windows 7 installation, check with a local retail or the services of the PC company store to see if they offer upgrade services.

    The upgrade of Windows Vista?

When important changes to your computer, for example an upgrade, it is always recommended that you back up your system before installing a new version of Windows. In your case, you can upgrade to Windows 7 depending on the edition and the architecture of Windows Vista, you have installed. If you are running a 32-bit version of Vista and upgrade to a 64-bit (Windows 7 edition) version, you'll have a pure make install, it is the opposite case.

If you are using Windows Vista Home Basic or Premium consumer editions, you can only upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate. In addition, you can make downgrades, which means, if you are running Windows Vista Ultimate Edition now, you cannot downgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. You perform logical upgrades:

Windows Vista Home Basic > Windows 7 Home Basic, Premium or Ultimate

Windows Vista Edition Home Premium > Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate

Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Professional, enterprise or ultimate edition

Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Enterprise

Windows Vista Ultimate > Windows 7 Ultimate.

From Vista, you should have very few issues. You can visit the sites of manufacturers for updates to driver for Windows 8. Most of Windows Vista/7 drivers will work with 8 that he shares a very similar code base.
