WordPad is a * very * primitive processor (that's why it comes free with Windows). It's really more a glorified text than a real word processor Editor. It has very little features and spell check is not * one of them.

There is third spelling correctors, you can download and use, but spell checking is only feaure missing from WordPad, and unless your processing needs are very modest, you would do much better to move to a real word processor. There are a lot of choices, but here are three main:

1 Microsoft Word, which can be purchased either by itself or as part of Microsoft Office.

2 OpenOffice, which is free and downloadable on the web. Do a search of sweb for her.

3 corel WordPerfect

WordPerfect is my favorite, but the choice is yours.

Notepad is a simple text editor. WordPad is a basic, no frills, the word processing program. Why no spellcheck? Because they are freebie programs.

This will check the spelling in WordPad and other places.

  • Check spelling Thunderbird displays in the form of words of errors that are not in the draft text mail.

I'm running Thunderbird 24.5.0 on a system Windows 8.1 (both newly installed). According to Windows / Microsoft Update updates only in circulation are both updates optional (for Silverlight and Bing Office, nor who have or want to).

Today I prepared a letter of project, that has been saved in the subfolder 'Project' of 'local folders '. After further review and editing, I pressed the "Send" button to send the e-mail message. As expected, the window "Check spelling" popped up and said problems with a few words, who were treated by variously by adding them to the dictionary, fix or ignore the. When it reaches the end of the text, however, the spelling continued to draw words hat, presenting more than thirty extra "mistakes".

If this is of any help, these words seem to be 'technical' nature, which suggests that the spelling might have gotten in the part of the document or the system where it shouldn't be. Include "charset", "mso" (multiple instances), 'msoNormal', 'msoChpDefault', 'WordSection', 'qformat', 'ANSI' and 'bidi '.

I might add that at the beginning of my Thunderbird request and in particular the structure and the content of the 'Local folders' hierarchy, have been determined by the content of a profile file created on my old Windows XP system via an import in Outlook Express, which was in turn copied everywhere in my new machine. The project email which is the subject of this question was however prepared entirely on the new system.

    Thanks for your input, Matt.

I entered all the text in the first box above. It was intended to provide an accurate description, with specific examples, the problem I had.

However, further investigation, stated that the problem only occurred when the original text was seized by an account. As a result, I just found out the signature html for this account file was damaged and contained a lot of invisible extra hardware, which the text identified by the spell check.

Recreate a clean version of the signature for the account file solved the problem.

  • Why can't check spelling be disabled in the mail?

While in El Capitan mail preferences give me the option of drafting emails without spell check - that is to say I write "never" when asked if I want to "check spelling? -the mail application is always check my spelling, often by mistake and miscorrects words I don't want miscorrected. Latest example: he has changed "on the spot" in a message to "obscene" with hilarious results. How can I stop usual annoying intuitive mail to change what I write?

First of all, go to Edit-> spelling and grammar by writing an email or a sponsor and check that "automatically correct spelling ' is disabled." " If this is not the case, do, because this is the reason why Mail is trying to verify the spelling even if you do not want.

  • I unchecked "Check spelling as you type", but Firefox always stresses words cut-and-paste the text in some web applications. How can I stop doing that?

I use an online web mapping application that has an entry of descriptive text boxes and stuff like that. Sometimes I copy blocks of text from a word-processing application in these input boxes because I can format the text in the wp. When I paste text blocks, Firefox don't the red wavy underline on the words he doesn't know. I already disabled "check spelling as you type" but it does make a difference. I don't want no Firefox to check the spelling on these blocks of text that I copy and paste. Sometimes I need to capture images of these blocks of text display in the mapping application and I want that they own. Thank you.

Hi, cor - el, this isn't have a tick in the context menu. but I think I was just stupid on the problem because I restarted my browser and now the underline is not past. Thanks for the reply.

  • check spelling

In Yosemite, spell check is too conservative, even with this option disabled in system preferences > keyboard > text

When in TextEdit, both automatically check spelling and abbriviations, (owa = I'll be there!) or anyting has added to this list, does not always pupulate/correct...

When the control is automatically disabled, it always overwrites your own words...

For example: Nightcore - (enter stuff here) - Single

becomes nightmare not after the first word entered u, but after u closed support...

Is this normal? Also abbrivations don't always work...

Tested in other account and the same thing... However it looks like this corrects only at the start of new document, does not the previous edition...

  • Why isn't my check spelling work?

    Hi guys,.

Since the last update of Mozilla version 23.0 my spelling check is no longer in effect. I seem to be miss-written every word, because each of them are noteworthy.

How can I solve this problem? I don't want to change to another browser of crap just because I can't use an add-on check spelling...

As a side note, all that worked on version 22, and I don't understand why it isn't now. I just want to see this problem, please help? Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem and solved it by uninstalling Firefox 23 and all its data and downgrade to Firefox 22. Now the spell checking works properly!
If a developer is reading this, please see the question. My computer has 64-bit Windows 8.

    NOTE
Apparently, this problem was caused by a Firefox bug which has been fixed in Firefox 23.1 the nature of the problem is such that no English installs was more likely to be affected.
My post under gives more information.

Users should not have this problem now, or if you do, then it is likely to be another cause. So please start a new question of your own using the link standard/issues/new/firefox

  • Whenever I wrote something on Firefox, it is used to check the spelling. But now Firefox doesn't check spelling. How can I turn it back on?

Firefox used to check the spelling on everything I wrote. But since the upgrade to version 10.0.2, I don't see no Redline under the wrong words and no suggestion of spelling when I right click on the words.

When you type something like these messages, right click, then select check spelling. You can also enable the option in the Advanced menu panel - accessibility, navigation, network, updates and other settings in advanced Firefox

You probably already have the required dictionary (if you do a regular upgrade, Firefox should not change language version) otherwise, see https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/language-tools/

  • How can I check spelling on my email to outlook express using microsoft home and student office?

I have Outlook Express 6.0 and have always spells check the capacity.  After installation of Home and Student Microsoft Office, I don't have this ability, the ability appears gray.  How can this be repaired?

OE 6 doesn't come with it's own spellcheck. You have need of Word or a MS Office program, before 2007. The spell checker in Works 4 to 6 will work with OE, but not other editions. If you do not have such a program, you can download a free spell check to one of these sites.
