WebWorks for BB 8820?

Can I develop applications for BB 8820 v. 4.5.0.187 Webworks (Platform 2.7.0.109)?

I developed an application, compiled by Webworks and got .jax successfully and .cod files.

I downloaded the BB desktop successfully.

When tried to install - is well started, numbers were incerasing, then stopped and has NOT installed. No error, no warrning or phone, or on the BB Desktop. I remains to BB Desktop as not installed, I can choose for installation and the action is repeated with the same result.

I can install other applications downloaded by BB Desktop - it works.

I found no specification of Webworks: operating system support.

All opinions are appreciated. Thank you.

The oldest OS supporting WebWorks is BlackBerry 5.0.  The reason why WebWorks uses a WebView (named "BrowserField") which was introduced in this version of the operating system.

  • Extension of WebWorks for BB10 and OS7

    Hello

I am interested to write an extension for some software that will be deployed to the device a BB10 and OS7. I was wondering if it was possible to package the native code for each platform in an extension, so I can then use it in a project without having to include two extensions. Ideally, I would like to include the extension in the project and leave the code intact webworks for each platform and let the compiler decide to use the BB10 or OS7 code from the file extension.

Is it possible to do this?

    Hello!

I tried to install WebWorks for Playbook on my Mac OS X 10.6.8.

First I downloaded with Safari, unzipped in and run it. The installation program requires the password for the admin user (I am logged on as administrator), and then I saw a progress bar and finally a blank screen and a blue 'next' button in the lower right.

  • Can WebWorks for blackberry 7.1 camembert? How?

    Hello

First of all, I apologize if this is too simple. My question is, is the webworks for blackberry 7 is able to design the diagram using converted input data? I think that css can do using google chart api, but I don't know if it can be used for blackberry webworks. Any of you guys have a solution?

    Hello

There are libraries of graphics a little out there when you do a quick search on Google, too many to be listed here I don't see why you couldn't use the Google API, if you prefer?

  • [SDK WebWorks for Mac] Could not load the COD file to the device

I downloaded the latest version of the SDK of BlackBerry WebWorks for Smartphones (Mac version) to my laptop. I am able to zip/compilation/sign my application in a COD file. However, when I try to load the app on my BB device using javaloader, I get the following error: "error: file is not a valid Java code file.

The version of WebWorks package manager: bbwp version 2.2.0.15
The device is a BB Curve 9330 running version 6.0 (v6.0.0.524, platform 4.4.0.438)

If this combination will allow me to deploy on the device? This combo generates a BB 7.0 application?

A test, we tried to load a COD file created on a PC, using bbwp version 2.0.0.18, and we were able to load with this version of the SDK.

So certainly not customized API used here.

  • Web Application vs Webworks for performance

I plan to move from a Java based OS5 native application by using browserfield2 to a mobile Web site that runs in the native browser.

I have several examples of mobile websites which have much higher speeds than I was able to achieve using the Java application.

If I want to have the speed of the mobile site AND still have access to some system resources (possible examples might be local graphics resources, or a cache local or even integration of BBM), WebWorks is a viable solution?

Q2.  If I adjust to the speed of the only native browser (assuming that the answer to my previous question is not), so in this case, WebWorks is just as good as the native browser when rendering web content.

Yes, WebWorks was designed precisely for this purpose. It gives you the power of HTML5 mixed with native platform API. There is one thing to consider though. WebWorks APIs are always released later than the native APIs and sometimes they are never published by RIM (but you can connect to the existing native APIs if you can write an extension).

Regarding the speed of rendering, it is usually as good, but there's an important limitation, you have a limited amount of memory available for your application.

  • WeBWorK for Smartphones BB

Hello! I'm developing a Web application using html5, I can register it on the App store to be used for smartphones and tablets?

    Thank you

The cool thing about WebWorks applications, is that you do not have the restriction of the original cross for AJAX calls.  Please whitelist the domains you want to access in the file config.xml for an application.

You can then package some of your pages to be part of the installed application, but then also a link in JavaScript or other pages to your remote Web site.  You can almost think of it as the distribution of your Internet site on both servers.

Pages conditioned locally are run on a virtual local web server and your distance on the other pages.  You can even link to local pages of your remote pages using the local: / / / Protocol which starts from the root of the local content packed WebWorks.

  • The 2.1 SDK WebWorks for smartphone update?

When I download this SDK Update on this link:

and install it. It's still an old version (2.0.0.201103231828 - 18)
At any site update via eclipse update? Please help:)

As stated in the declaration of the end of life and Associates blog article, The WebWorks Plug-ins for Visual Studio and Eclipse only support 2.0 SDK WebWorks and low.

These tools plugin does not update to support the latest versions of the SDK WebWorks.  Use the versions the latest SDK you should not use the command-line for now, and when the ripple is upgraded you will be able to build and deploy from the emulator.

You will be able to continue to use Eclipse and Visual Studio to build applications WebWorks in the same way as you would for the construction of a local Web site.  More details are in the above referenced blog post.

  • PlayBook Simulator included in the SDK WebWorks for Mac does not start

Hi, I downloaded and installed the WebWorks BlackBerry SDK for Tablet OS for Mac from http://us.blackberry.com/developers/tablet/webworks.jsp . I have VMWare Fusion installed 3.1.2. I used the beta3 .iso Installer to create a virtual machine, and it worked very well. Open the bbwp/blackberry-tablet-sdk/BlackBerryPlayBookSimulator-1.0.1/BlackBerryPlayBookSimulator.vmx file load VMWare Fusion and adds a virtual machine named "BlackBerry PlayBook Simulator" in my VM library. When I try to 'turned on' virtual machine, nothing happens. The power seems to be on for two seconds and turns off the virtual machine. I can't find all the lines from log in Console.app. the 'Virtual Machine'-> 'Force Start Up' menu is no help either. I download the stand-alone "BlackBerry PlayBook Simulator for Mac", that is also marked v1.0.1 but I am not optimistic if it is delivered as a set of folders VMware. Please do not make me run the PlayBook Simulator in a virtual Windows XP machine!

    Hi jaschroe,

Try to manually copy the folder BlackBerryPlayBookSimulator - 1.0.1 to another location on your Mac and then try to open this copy of the VMX file in VMware Fusion. (No need to re - install).

  • Set up the SDK WebWorks for Tablet OS - 2.0 signature

    Hi all

Initially, I created my app with the beta relase of webworks. I've made a few improvements and want to send it now. It must be signed by the gold (2.0) release. I uninstalled the Beta SDK and installed Gold version succsefully. Now, I am confused on how to set my machine to sign again. I have the new keys (CSJ files) and I'm trying to figure out how to save them and to replace my sigtool.p12 file.

    (1) I guess the RDK file is used for the official signing (and the COMINCO is to create the debugging token) correct?

2 email shows me up here and since I upgraded (at least I think I am upgrading) and he told me to just do step 1, which gives me an error. Do step 1 is not also save the new LSB. http://docs.BlackBerry.com/en/developers/deliverables/27280/Configure_signing_for_tablet_application...

    (3) can someone please tell me a good walkthrough how to do this? Only command line please.

I'm so frustrated with RIM processes. I don't understand why everything has to be SO confused and why their docs or textbooks don't actually explain anything correctly.

    Thank you.

Understood that I just needed to recreate the sigtool.p12 keystore and then sign the application using the old file of csk that I initially created with the beta.

    Confused, but done.

  • WebWorks for Playbook and using photo APIs

    Hello

The API documentation, I found that the camera what API can be used to call the camera from an application. Thus, it can be used to capture an image that will then save the image in a folder of the playbook? If Yes, how can I know the name of the file that is the last one added to the camera file in the shared location? Please help me with this.

    Thanking you in advance,

    Praveen

    garciaf wrote:

Is there a way to get the photo you take with the camera.

You must use the Phonegap Framework http://www.phonegap.com/

They provide a specific function that represent you to get the URI of the file or data directly.

(But if you get the data directly there is a problem of memory)

Another way is to encode your own API in Java and add in the web works. (If you choose this solution and the success you, I would be very interested in the result)

    Concerning

    Hi garciaf,

You are right that PhoneGap has this API for smartphones, but they have not yet supported for Tablet OS.  And on Tablet OS, you can't create an extension using Java, because it is not a Java virtual machine.  You must create an extension with ActionScript

The takePicture() API becomes even closer now to PlayBook and smartphone.  You can see what the API signature will look like in the jsdocs found here:

    https://github.com/BlackBerry/WebWorks-API-docs/BLOB/Delta/API/blackberry_media_camera.js

It will be the signature of the API used for both BONES of tablet in the 'Delta' version and the Smartphone 'Epsilon' version:

  • Menu of the app (Swipe in the Menu drop-down) in Webworks for BB10.

    Hello

I tried to build an app menu (the menu that appears at the top when you drag down on the screen BB10) for my applications Webworks.

However, I wasn't able to find anything that satisfied my need here https://github.com/blackberry/bbUI.js/wiki

In samples for BB10, I found this message under Swipe Menu here https://github.com/blackberry/BB10-WebWorks-Samples/tree/master/swipemenu

'This example is not really applicable for BB10. The menu blow follows different guidelines that this and most of the applications must use the context menu instead. »

However, the interface instructions user of BB said that for generic application-level functionality, you must place in the menu of the Application. (Here https://developer.blackberry.com/devzone/files/design/bb10/UI_Guidelines_BlackBerry_10.pdfof Page 47)

So now I'm a bit confused. Is there a Webworks method to create a Menu of Application for BB10? (I found documentation of older versions). Is there something I'm missing?

    Thanks in advance.

    Prashanth

Gotcha - I see where the confusion is so

menu screen in bbUI.js = menu of the application.

It's a swipedown menu where you can place the lesser measures. It has a slightly different feature on Playbook and a completely different feature BBOS but from your point of view, it will do what you owe for BB10

It is set on a base by screen at this moment (discussed changes that, but nothing has yet been decided) but follows the BB10 UI/UX guidelines for the application menu. He now has the ability to the elements of the upper left and right so that you can get your help and settings menus to the appropriate locations.

Let me know if you need other help for this.

    BCR.
