Is this a real Windows/Microsoft Update or an attempt of hacker to access information?

    Hello!

Please provide the details of the e-mail address that you were dubious about. It helped us identify the problem.

This is certainly a phishing attempt trying to steal your personal information. It is not Microsoft and there is no kidnapping exercise past in Windows Live accounts. Answer with the information that has been requested by the sender will give them your personal information that they could use for something else. Do not meet these emails.

I put some links here that can provide additional information to these phishing scams, hope that helps:

  • I get a request to (maybe) MS to find out where to send a security code on my hotmail account. The choices are my phone (not smartphone) or comcast email. Is - is this legitimate?

I get a message that looks like it's from Microsoft on my Hotmail account. I am connected, but I can't yet see one of my mail until I answer the email from MS asking where to send a security code (if I need one).

The choices are my home (landline) phone or my other email which is with Comcast.net account.

I was finally able to access my mail after by checking a box saying to remember in 6 days. Was it really from MS? What is phishing?

It's really true.  This security feature is that many companies use now, including Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Twitter and many banks.

Basically, it protects you by making sure no one can access your account unless they have two things:

    1. Something you know (your password)

      and

    2. Something you have (your phone or to another e-mail account)

Even if someone were able to guess or steal your password, they couldn't always access your account.

  • No one knows what makes Trojan.HTML.Phishing.LG?

I was expecting a file from someone, it happened--in a format I does not - and I clicked it, twice because I couldn't open it. I did a security sweep later that day, and he was revealed as Trojan.HTML.Phishing.LG. No one knows what it is supposed to do? Sites that look as if they could tell me are not the sites that I would touch with a bargepole! Thanks in advance.

Help and Support for Windows Live Hotmail can be found at http://windowslivehelp.com/product.aspx?productid=1

If Hotmail is not your e-mail provider, contact your ISP. If you provided the connection information by clicking a link in an email and you believe that you have been a victim of phishing, change your password * immediately * by going to the site that you thought that you connect to.

Each piece of mail in my Inbox is marked * phishing * how can I get rid of this label on my emails?

I guess that your e-mail provider is doing this, or you have some useful security software. I am 100% convinced that Thunderbird does not do that. It does not change the subject line.

  • I received an email with songs that I didn't not buy what is a phishing e-mail?

I have not seen any invoice attached to my credit card on the account. Thank you. Not so computer savvy, tim

Yes, more than likely it is. You can simply delete the email, or you can send to Apple to [email protected] and then delete.

    Can someone enlighten me please?

Fake phone calls to technical support

Calls unrequested telephone of this nature are almost always a common scam. Do not let them give any info, do not give access to your PC, not give them all the money and do not go to all the websites that they suggest. One moment.

    Please see:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security/online-privacy/msname.aspx .

Microsoft issues never not solicited for phone calls of support or security.

These types of callers can use completely fictitious names or bogusly claim to be of real companies other than Microsoft as well.

  • Constantly flooded with pop up / phishing scam messages!

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help. For the past 2 weeks I've been flooded with boring jump - rises from the constant / phishing scams "congratulations you have won..." "on my iPhone and an iPad 2! It has gotten to the point now where I can't use any of these devices! as soon as I use safari, google chrome, most apps for example BBC News, BBC sport, etc... It automatically goes to the prize / competition messages and can't click on them. I was not on all questionable websites, just news and sports that I used for years, starting by it seemed to be only BBC sport app but then quickly spread to all! It seems also occur just after I did the last software update, do not know if this is related to the problem?

    So far, I have:

    • Removed from web history (several times)
    • Completely erased and reset all devices and set up as a new iPad / iPhone.
    • Created a new Apple ID, incase it was related to my original account.
    • Make sure blocker made in the settings.
    • Been in the apple store for help twice, they just did what I had already done. He seemed to disappear when in the Apple store, but as soon as I got home n used them once again, he was back!
    • I tried installing apps blocker, but they did not work, and most are not comparable with iPads.
    • Messaged Apple on the Live Chat, but they did not help, just what I had already done before.

I'm completely lost what to do next.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to get rid of these horrible annoying messages / pop - ups, I would be very grateful.

    Thank you
