What is the best for my professional job or the retina

Hello

I need tips for buying a laptop Macbook...

My job is to develop software for linux and windows systems, the software I develop usually require a connection to external devices via ethernet and RS 232 ports series, apart from that for windows, I have several special software which I use for programming of robots for use in industries and also the software IDEs for systems shipped as Cypress etc of Microchip.

Linux I mainly use to develop applications for computers beaglebone and Raspberry.

Using a Mac system means that I can develop also on Xcode for systems Mac OS x, something I wanted to do for a long time.

I intend to run these operating systems (Windows and Linux) as the guest systems using VirtualBox, with Mac OSx as host.

Since I also travel a lot maintenance machinery installed (requires Windows) I would prefer a laptop instead of a desktop computer, so I decided on the following configuration.

MacBook Pro laptop

-2.9 Ghz Dual Core i7 Turbo boost upt 3.6 Ghz

-8 GB 1600 Mhz, DDR3 RAM

-Hard disk 1 TB Serial ATA 5400 RPM

I don't have many accessories as I already have a brand new Kensington trackball mouse, if necessary I can use an external monitor of HDMI (26 inches) to my office.

My questions are these.

1 - is the support of configuration above virtualization?, I want to VirtualBox to do this, is it possible with the above specifications?

2 Ethernet RJ45 connectivity is very important for me because I need it to connect to various industrial automats, not to mention I have Ethernet I / simulation software P in need of this port. I see that my Setup doesn't have an ethernet port, so how do I connect via ethernet? Is there an available Ethernet adapter? What possible limitations are there compared to an integrated?

[3. can be Ethernet port be customized through the Mac OSx, customize I mean change the IP, DHCP/Static, the gateway IP address], netmask etc.. These settings can be changed?

4. I would like to increase my RAM 16 GB (or more) I currently have 16 GB, in my view, it is essential for the execution of virtual systems.

5. the HDMI can support a share whole 26 inch HD monitor?

6 is better than Pro retina?, I will not be upgrading my laptop, once I have the RAM and the required hard disk.

7. because this is my work computer, what is the approximate years Apple will support this laptop? Will take in charge the laptop be declined in the following years? I have an Ipad Gen 1, which is totally UN-useableas, it can not be upgraded. My laptop will end up like this in 5 years?

Rest of the card OK for me, 1 TB look better virtual systems consume a lot of disk space, speed may not be a review I would leave the laptop running or in hibernation, I believe that extends the life expectancy of the hard drive. Battery life isn't a review I would leave my laptop plugged in all time.

Please let know us what you think...

Thank you

  1. Yes. But use Parallels instead of Virtual Box. The first is faster.
  2. There are two types of Ethernet cards. We use a USB 3.0 port and Thunderbolt, is used.
  3. Configurations can be configured manually. In most cases, it should be automatic.
  4. You can increase the RAM on the model 13 "as a custom configuration. The model 15 "comes with 16. GBs RAM is not extensible to the user.
  5. The HDMI port should be compatible with most of the ports to monitor.
  6. There is no model non-retine.
  7. Standard warranty is 1 year from the date of purchase. At any time within the first year, you can buy the extended warranty which adds another 2 years after the expiration of the standard warranty. All support including consultancies has a time delay. See registration Vintage and obsolete.

  • What plan is best for digital drawing

    Hi all!

I was thinking through a plan of Photoshop. I learn the drawing right now and so I do not know which one to choose. The foreground costs 12 euros, the second 29 I guess - first is full of Photoshop? Or just to Lightroom? It is said in the "Photography" title, but I want to use it mainly for digital drawing. What is your opinion on the matter?

    Thank you

    Hello

    Greetings!
Plan of photography includes Lightroom and Photoshop.

If you do not use illustrator then this plan is best for you.

  • What display is best for this type of situation

my report structure is like this

    TITILE of the report
    column selector
    Subtitles (title)
name of the column (a column)
    column selector
    several columns (view pivot)

Could someone please help me to find out which view is better and what is the best way to implement this...

    Hello

Narrative views you give great freedom with regard to how you view your data. You can put in javascript, html, reference session variables, variable repository, variable presentation and most importantly all your columns in the report. However, narrative views are not as a friend of the user as a PivotTable. It takes more code by hand and know the correct syntax of the call of the variables and columns. These are best used for moderately formatted reports and are targeted for development by power users.

Tables cross dynamic does not give you plenty of room to get in shape, but they are much easier for end users pick up and start to create reports. They perform different aggregates and totals as easy as clicking a button.

    To sum up,

PivotTables: targeted for end users, easy to use, not many advanced formatting options
View narrative: for power users, complex to use, a lot of advanced options in shape (as you know HTML and javascript).

Hope this helps and if you find this post useful, please reward points!

  • What raid is best for me? 5 or 10

As part of our DR plan, we decided to virtualize our primary and DR site. I bought 3 HP Lefthand iSCSI free with 6 TB raw each. 1 will be on the main site and asynchronous replication with the DR site that will reflect to #3 to Dr. #2. We will use the Site Recovery Manager for failover. Because we have a lot toleraunce fault we could come out with a raid 5 for redundency. A raid 5 gives me a little more than 4 to and one raid 10 give me a little more than 2 to. What I read your writings are faster with raid 10 in 2 x in most cases. Currently we use about 2 TB of local storage total (fully provisioned). We are virtualization 1 SQL DB and 1 as well as 2 domain controllers Exchange Server, file server, ect. Opinions and suggestions welcome. Thank you!

    Critical salvation

If you already use 2 TB 2 TB total will not give you plenty of room for the growth of the data.

I understand that you are using physical servers at this time.  I'd work with PAHO are / s total required for Exchange & SQL - then transfer to SAN.  Then look at the San configuration and make sure that the configuration that you use can respond to these.  In this way, you are guaranteed performance will be acceptable for both systems.

Here is a useful link to give you an idea of the requirements for the Exchange: http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2004/10/11/240868.aspx

By measuring these numbers, you can back up your decision.

Not a SQL expert but I'm sure there is something out there.  You may be able to use Raid5 and get an additional 2 TB for files and other growth.

  • What is the best editor/Photo for iPad Pro?

Just watch to see what everyone uses.  I don't like on the cost.  I want to just make sure we can use the pencil and is good quality

Apple's Pencl works only with applications that have been encoded/programmed/designed to operate it.

Do a search in the iOS App Store for Apple Apps of pencil.

I don't think there are image/photo editors who use the pencil to Apple.

For what is 'best', 'better' image editor is a subjective term.

Do your own research in the iOS App Store for image/photo editors and see what will work best for you and your own workflow.

On iOS, you will find that you need more enforcement of an image/photo to cover everything you need to do with images.

I use Photos of Apple's iOS app, but have other applications that can do other things to images/photos.

You must see what is available and choose those who can work for you.

There is no best or overall image/photo-editing app.

iPads are not a notebook computer replacement / full desktop again!

It can take more measures or apps to do some different things that have been easier or more directly on a regular computer.

iOS is not also fully recommended and robust as ordinary computer operating systems.

    Good luck!

What is the best software for imac photo management

This will depend on your needs.

Looking for a database of professional for a huge collection of photos or photo is a simple tool to keep photos organized suffice?

Software of Apple's professional photo 'Openness' is no longer sold. Professional software, you will need to look for software from third-party manufacturers - Lightroom, Capture One, to name a few.

The News Photos of the Apple is still very basic and more suitable for an amateur user casual; you don't have much control over the design of the database of Photos.

  • Support for Windows XP. What is the best OS to install, Windows 8, 7, 8.1?

I have Windows XP Professional and see that Windows XP will support ending April 8, 2014. My question is quite simple: what is the best operating system to install instead of XP? Is - this Windows 8, Windows 7 or Windows 8.1? I don't want a touchscreen application. I'm used to XP. I have a desktop computer with a lot of programs running at the same time, am constantly downloading big files and open the three browsers (MS IE, Google Chrome, Mozilla). I can't afford downtime if things stop grinding and safety is an important issue for me. I want to continue to receive updates. Any help from the community would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone had Windows XP Professional and already past to another OS? If Yes, what kind of problems you are having or, at the other end are things runnig smoothly?

    Thank you!

I don't have personal experience with Win 8, so take the following with a grain of salt.  It is my understanding that Win 8 is really designed for touch screens, although it works without one.  There was a lot of vocal dissatisfaction with Win 8, but which can decrease as people get more used is a pretty important user interface change.

I had XP Pro Win 7 Pro change quite easily.  In addition, if you plan to use your hardware even (rather than buying a new computer with Windows pre-installed), your old hardware is support Win 7 to 8 win more.

My suggestion: go with Windows 7 Professional

If you plan to install one of these operating systems on your current hardware, run these first:

    Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor
Upgrade Wizard of Windows 8 (for 8.1, see http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/upgrade-from-windows-vista-xp-tutorial)

What is the best way to upgrade Windows 7 Professional to Windows 7 Ultimate to load the language packs?

    Hello
Welcome to the Microsoft community. Sorry for the delay in responding.

Please take a look at this article for more information on the upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate.
Upgrade to another edition of Windows 7 by using Windows Anytime Upgrade but now it would be better if you upgrade to Windows 10 directly. If you have Windows 7 Professional, you qualify for a free update to Windows Professional 10.

    Upgrade to Windows 10

Which edition of Windows I get as part of the free update?

To install the language packs take a look at this article.

Windows 7 language packs are available for computers that are running Windows 7 ultimate or Windows 7 Enterprise

Hope that the information provided has been helpful and let us know if you need more help. We will be happy to help you.

  • What is the best way for a J2EE developer with oracle?

    Hello

I am a J2EE developer, for the moment I'm working in a commercial bank as an enterprise application developer. Java, I learned when I was following a degree of local COMPUTER and with the help of books, work at my place of work and the internet, today I develop applications with JSP, Servlets, JSF2.0, EJB3.0 and third-party J2EE part libraries JSF etc (I also develop software using other programming languages such as Asp.net, c# .net, etc. WPF, but I prefer to be in the path of java). Other than that, I also work as the designer of the user interface of most of our applications.

I have the skills and practice after having worked for 4 years as a developer of web/enterprise applications & UI designer, but now I have to focus on some grades of paper and so I do BCS.

Now, I want to be a professional in the Oracle java path, and I need to know what is the best way, I choose to go with Oracle. I finished my SCJP courses, but did not take the exams, because there were rumors that Oracle will clear these reviews in the future. I am interested in Oracle university, but I'm unable to even think about it as I live in Sri Lanka and is not only a large part of the wealth to go to the USA and join.

So I really appreciate if any professional Oracle could suggest me the best educational path based on what I mentioned about my technical and professional training. Because I have a dream to join Oracle a day as an employee and be a good contributor on the same forum, which I get help today!

    :-)

    Thank you!!!

As you can see on our Web site, Oracle did not retire Java certifications. You can browse through the available certifications and I hope to help determine your path.
    http://education.Oracle.com/pls/web_prod-PLQ-dad/db_pages.GetPage?page_id=140

SCJP became Oracle Certified Professional Java Programmer. You can find more information on these reviews on our site here: http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=320.

Concerning training, virtual training live might be an option for you. You can find more information at http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=233.

  • HP Z400s under spec for HD in CS4 edition. What is the best way to go?

    Hi all

I recently bought the three HP Z400 workstations for editing XDCAM EX 1080i (HQ) a timeline in Premiere CS4. It's a very hasty and ill-informed purchase. Unfortunately I only came across the Adobe forum after that I ran into trouble with 1 and 2 workstations. After reading a lot of useful messages, it is quite obvious that new two of my machines have the ability to edit full HD 1080i chronologies stably.

Before I describe my problems, I'll describe my system specs:

    Z400 1 workstation

    Windows XP 32-bit
    Xeon W3505
    3 GB RAM
    GPU: Quadro FX 1800
    C: 500 GB OS/programs
    D: 2 x 500 GB Raid 0 zero

    Z400 Workstation 2

    Windows XP 32-bit
    Xeon W3520
    3 GB RAM
    GPU: Quadro FX 3800
    C: 500 GB OS/programs
    D: 2 x 500 GB Raid 0 zero

Z400 Workstation 3 (this machine works well and has not had stability problems)

    Windows Vista 64-bit
    Xeon W3540
    8 GB RAM
    GPU: Quadro FX 3800
    C: 500 GB OS/programs
    D: 2 x 500 GB Raid 0 zero

While I was able to edit clips XDCAM EX 1080i HQ on all these systems, work stations 1 and 2 are very unstable, crashing regularly, especially when rendered.

I'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to technology, so after reading through the many excellent posts here, I'm still not entirely sure which is the best way forward for me to put jobs 1 and 2 to the height. It is clear on reading these posts that I more capitalized on GPU cards, underestimated the importance of the RAM and committed a fundamental error of my choice of operating system:

    • In the spirit of the community - are the specs for Workstation 3 enough for stable HD editing?
    • What is the best solution with 1 and 2 workstations? Reader threads I guess I upgraded Vista 64 bit OS and spend at least 6 GB of RAM - it would be enough? If this is not the case, what do you suggest? In addition, the existing processors (w3505 and w3520) are quite fleshy for work?
    • And this could take liberties... all topics widely discussed on this forum; I'm having trouble getting my head around storage. What is the best configuration that I do with my current gear (z400 motherboard) for HD editing (including adding additional disks)?

Thanks in advance... I'm not much of a techie, so all the words of wisdom are like gold dust.

    See you soon,.

    James

Your CPU 3505 is only a dual core chip.  Certainly working on upgrading the CPU on a quad core.  I don't know if HP offers capabilities overclocking on this motherboard single processor.  If so, you could try prejudice overclocking guide lines since it is structurally almost identical to the i7-920.

To the power of the processor which is the most important point for the creation, you can use one of these processors W3520 / W3540 / W3570 (2.66 to 3.20 GHz, 8 MB L2 cache) If you prefer do not overclock or if HP didn't you provided the functionality in the BIOS.

Certainly wait (I think that it is the date) October 22 to Win 7 64 bit OS it is certainly faster than Vista 64.

Incidentally, I don't know if you have ordered these units, but it may be useful to call HP and see if you are eligible for a free upgrade to Win 7.

What is the best OS for a late 2008?

El Capitan.  He will run the latest apps and have the latest safety features.

Do not install the maximum RAM that your model will accept (best sources RAM compatible Macs are OWC and Crucial).  If the bank account is fat, install an SSD (Crucial and OWC SSD are recommended).

  • What is the best software project management for a Mac

Hi I just bought a MacBook Pro for my business. My company has won an engineering project that I will be the Project Director. My client uses MS Projects, I can't on my Mac, what is the best option

    John

Maybe this blog Capterra article can help you with choices for an alternative to MS Project for Macs.

However, what I would recommend is to run Windows under BootCamp or a virtual machine, such as Parallels or VMware and then, install a version of Windows from MS Project to be entirely compatible with what your company uses.
