What Linux RHEL (Linux Red Hat Enterprise Server 6.7) compatible for oracle database 11.2.0.4 with grid Infrastructure?

Compatible Linux RHEL (Linux Red Hat Enterprise Server 6.7) for oracle database 11.2.0.4 with grid Infrastructure.

Hi all

We plan to patch Linux Redhat Enterprise Server (6.4 and 6.5) to 6.7.

I tried Searchin' on support of oracle for the compatibility of the database for Linux patches, but not able to find accurate information.

can anyone share the ID document or information related to it.

If OS RHEL 6 update 4 to 6-7 update patch

(1) is it compatible

(2) bugs or problems reported

(3) in addition to the binary link again than the DBA to perform any other

Thank you

Hello

6.7 RHEL is certified for the database 11.2.0.3 or newer. In other words, it is certified for RHEL 6.7 11.2.0.4

    It should work without problem.

According to the following document, you should have the kernel version 2.6.18 - 8 or higher.

  • Installation tools in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 64 - Bit vmware

    Hello

I just want to install vmware tools in a VM for 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 a RPM.

I don't want to install the kernel and CCG files, sort of compilation was released, unless I absolutely have to do.

It is a small database server footprint. X - Window is not installed. Perl is installed.

Here is the list of packages to choose from.

    http://packages.VMware.com/tools/ESX/5.1/rhel6/x86_64/index.html

I read the Setup Guide for VMWare tools for OSSP documentation (specifically the table 2-7) and the package base looks like that's what I need, but I don't know which one to choose.

    Should which package I install?

    Thank you!

Linux is not windows.  Libraries are necessary because these tools and programs were designed to use libraries that were not installed with the operating system.  The instructions are VERY specific, they give you a step by step to install, if the base packages are needed you can simply guess or assume are not necessary.

FOLLOW the instructions, that is what they are there for, is not serious if YOU think they aren't necessary, they are required, if the instructions to install VMtools say that they are required.

How mkinitrd here. The last time I have to chroot and mount everything manually due to the error log with my ext3 file system after p2ved. If you're lucky, Redhat rescue will be chroot for you and what you have to do is, run $mkinitrd.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES4 (U5) crashes on startup after P2V

    Hi all

I have a Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 5) Server I try to virtualize. It runs a Tomcat application but also an Oracle database. I am using vCenter Converter Standalone and don't receive any error during the process, but to try to start the virtual machine newly created after the completed P2V happens to the following before apparently locking and no progress any more (while I can still use the keys ALT + function to switch terminals, none displays nothing except #1). :

    SELinux: End of initialization.
    SELinux: Implementation of existing Superblocks.
SELinux: initialized (dev dm-0, type ext3), use xattr
SELinux: initialized (dev tmpfs, type tmpfs), uses of transition SIDS
SELinux: initialized (dev selinuxfs, type selinuxfs), use genfs_contexts
SELinux: initialized (dev mqueue, mqueue type), not configured for labelling
SELinux: initialized (dev hugetlbfs, type hugetlbfs), use genfs_contexts
SELinux: initialized (dev devpts devpts type), uses of transition SIDS
SELinux: initialized (dev eventpollfs, type eventpollfs), use genfs_contexts
SELinux: initialized (dev pipefs, type pipefs), uses the SIDS task
SELinux: initialized (dev tmpfs, type tmpfs), uses of transition SIDS
SELinux: initialized (dev futexfs, type futexfs), use genfs_contexts
SELinux: initialized (dev sockfs, type sockfs), uses the SIDS task
SELinux: initialized (dev proc type proc), use genfs_contexts
SELinux: initialized (bdev, type bdev dev), use genfs_contexts
SELinux: initialized (dev rootfs, type rootfs), use genfs_contexts
SELinux: initialized (dev sysfs sysfs type), use genfs_contexts
SELinux: initialized (dev usbfs, type usbfs), use genfs_contexts

Looking at the DMESG log on the server running, I see that a few lines of a successful boot of the system should relate to the controller floppy drive or at least the lack of it:

Insert the floppy driver for 2.6.9 - 55.ELsmp
    Floppy drive (s): fd0 is 1.44 M
floppy0: not found floppy disk controller

    and then the env initialisation:

Broadcom NetXtreme II Gigabit Ethernet driver bnx2 v1.4.43 - HR (June 28, 2006)
    ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:03:00.0 [A] - & gt; GSI 18 (low) - & gt; IRQ 185
    divert: allocating divert_blk for eth0
    eth0: Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5708 1000Base-T (B2) PCI - X 64-bit 133 MHz to mem f8000000, IRQ 185, node addr xe
    ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:05:00.0 [A] - & gt; GSI 19 (low level) - & gt; IRQ 193
    divert: allocating divert_blk for eth1
    eth1: Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5708 1000Base-T (B2) PCI - X 64-bit 133 MHz at fa000000, IRQ 193, node addr xa mem

However with any combination of cards and diskettes being enabled and disabled controller doesn't seem to be able to get the VM at startup after the "SELinux: initialized (dev usbfs, type usbfs), uses genfs_contexts ' line. The server is orginially a HP DL360 G5.

How can I fix this far? I would avoid that changes to the physical machine to a minimum in order to preserve the State of it, but with the advantage of taking snapshots, I am less concerned to make changes to the virtual machine.

    See you soon

    Sam

That is a difficult question to debug.  I suspect a problem with the SELinux based on what you wrote.  You may consider to disable SELinux on the source before the conversion.

In addition, it is advised to disable active servers (Tomcat and especially Oracle) before starting the conversion, you could try to do this.

(If your question has been resolved please check the responses as 'Useful' or 'Correct').

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 operating instructions

I only managed to get installed DAQmx and running RHEL 5 and I wanted to put the instructions here in the hopes that I could save someone else a large part of the time.

First of all, I want to thank all who have contributed to the forums OR regarding the DAQmx Linux software installation. Most of the information contained in this how-to came directly from these two positions: Fedora Core 6 How-to and Fedora Core 5 - kernel 2.6.20 - 1.5 NATION howto

A special thanks goes to ninevoltz, who took the time to understand apparently most of this stuff on and even pushed back the developers of the core on the limitation of length of symbol of modpost.

Here are the steps I took when installing a PCIe-6259 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 2.6.18 - 53.1.19.el5 kernel:

    1. Add UTS_RELEASE to the version.h file

      • CD /lib/modules/2.6.18-53.1.19.el5/source/include/linux
      • CP version.h.dist version.h
      • Cat utsrelease.h version.h.dist > version.h
    2. Create a link to asm_offsets.h with an underscore in its name
      • CD /lib/modules/2.6.18-53.1.19.el5/source/include/asm
      • ln s asm - offsets.h asm_offsets.h
    3. Modify the application of modpost to accept names of symbol more of 500 characters
      • CD /lib/modules/2.6.18-53.1.19.el5/source/scripts/mod
      • CP modpost.c modpost.c.dist
      • Change the line 1116 '#define SZ 500' to '#define SZ 1024 "
      • CD /lib/modules/2.6.18-53.1.19.el5/source
      • do (Note: this will fail, but will get far enough to rebuild the modpost program.)
    4. Download ni.com NIDAQ800_RedHat.iso and install it
      • Mount-o loop/mnt NIDAQ800_RedHat.iso
      • CD/MNT
      • . / INSTALL
      • CD
      • umount/MNT
    5. Remove the packages OR rusted, installed by NIDAQ800_RedHat.iso
      • rpm - e - nodeps nipali Edward nipxirmi niorbi nidimi
    6. Download NI-VISA - 4.3.0.iso to ni.com and install it
      • Mount-o loop/mnt NI-VISA - 4.3.0.iso
      • CD/MNT
      • . / INSTALL
      • CD
      • umount/MNT
    7. Recompile the kernel modules OR
      • / usr/local/bin/updateNIDrivers
    8. reset

This procedure worked great on my system, I was still able to run the application/usr/local/bin/DAQmxTestPanels successfully. I had read that others had to wrestle with some MesaLib to make it work.

Yes, whoo hoo! And, good luck.

  • Virtual MACHINE under Linux Red Hat

On the matrix for, 'Oracle BPM Enterprise for WebLogic' on http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/bpm/obpm_config_matrix.html, it is said...

    Linux Red Hat 4.x and 5.x (do not virtualization or kernel XEN) (x 86-32 and 64 x 86); »
    {quote}

Does this mean that Oracle will not support BPM operating inside VMWare (Red Hat Linux) on a Red Hat Linux machine? Have you been successful with that this configuration?

    Thank you

    Dan,

My comment was that I thought that the case was based on my past experience. I've personally never had a problem running BPM on Redhat in VMware. I have worked with many clients running this configuration and they have always been supported without any problem. Your question, Rich, I see no reason that he would not work with the KVM virtualization either since the end of the day it runs on top of Java.

  • Linux Red Hat Server VMWare P2V

    Hello

I have worked to something almost the whole day, but cannot make it work and thought that I should ask for help now. In the subject line of the present States, I need to convert a server running RHEL 3 to a virtual machine on a host running VMWare Server 2.0, no interruption of service, preferably with a physical box, but I'll deal with a small amount if necessary.

I've seen a few comments and those showing how do, but all of them are intended to complete ESX or ESXi. I did the procedure on this page http://www.vladan.fr/how-to-p2v-linux-into-vmware-esx-server/, but when I get to the part of destination, I can't select my machine running in VMWare server. I tried different versions of the programs without result. Currently I am running:

VMWare Server 2.0.0 build 128374 on Windows XP. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

When you run converter for Server 2.x, the destination type must be 'VMware Workstation or other VMware Virtual Machine' and then, you select a folder, local or remote, where he will place the files that you can then add manually to the server creates 2.x once these files are copied to any data store you use on the host 2.x server once the conversion is complete.

I am looking for a compact machine to install Oracle Linux (based on RHEL)

The 14 t Envy Touchsmart ticked all my boxes (with the exception of the touchscreen) and I'm

a point where I am seriously considering this machine. I checked the recommended

material on Red Hat ( https://hardware.redhat.com ) that lists several HP machines,

who did not understand the desire, but I was wondering if there is a significant difference

prohibiting the RHEL running on the machine of envy from the officially

I understand that RHEL is through a thorough process and some materials may

do not be taken in charge yet, but I'm ready to compile and install all the required drivers and
