When I restarted the computer, all the icons and the Start button are left so far I don't see more than words stretched far to the left
The screen is stretched so far left start button and most of the icons are off the screen. I clicked blindly off the screen until I found the internet E. I found no where to find help for this problem. When I arrived at my home page I tried to move around the screen using the top bar... which did not work. try a restore of the system before this happened

If necessary do in safe mode

Using the F8 method:
- Restart your computer.
- When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
- Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
- Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
- To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
- Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.

Every thing seems to have returned to normal, but when I restarted my computer all the icons on my desktop and all programs in the start menu disappeared, and yet, all programs are always in: Control Panel > add/REMOVE programs. I can still connect to the internet by going to-Start > my computer > view > go to the desktop. How to get back all the icons on my desktop. I tried a click right, but in vain. I also ran a scan complete antivirus. any help would be appreciated.
Thank you Joel S. Before I could put your advice into practice a friend recommended a friend who advised me to do a system restore, which he said he would be happy to do it for me. So look like an easy option, I agreed. It seems to have solved the problem (fingers crossed), but now it seems that I need to format the hard drive. If you have any tips on formatting hard drive I'm all ears. Thank you Owen

I downloaded programs to see when I restart the computer they went
I have a new computer with windows premium 7.
I installed nero and downloaded other programs such as google, that they seemed to be installed with the icons on the desktop, disappear when I restart the computer
Thanks Mike P, I'm sure in the future that all added to the computer is 64-bit application. Good advice! The problem is almost solved, it seems that the Asus motherboard needed a patch and by some miracle, a Council came through just after the announcement of this complaint. I turned on the computer this morning, it has pulled up directly on windows without needing a disk of slow start, but it works now!

The parameters of the dock in the system prefs not saved. When I restart the computer, the dock is always located at the same place (bottom) even if I changed before. I have mac os X 11 5 on a mac pro (mid-2010).
In the case where all third party apps, anti virus are installed, remove them. Click go > hold down the option key and don't release > click library > Preferences find com.apple.dock.plist, com.apple.systempreferences.plist and right click on them and move to the trash.
The apple logo reboot and empty the trash.
