When I start my computer, Windows XP starts to load up, but instead to see the screen of my account, the screen is blank. I tried to make a diagnosis of computer, but can't find out how to get Windows XP to continue loading.

When I turn on the computer, I see starting Dell screen then the Windows XP screen.  Once it loads, it is supposed to show my page accounts logon, but all I get is a white screen.  I can see the mouse icon.  My son and I tried to make a diagnosis of computer but I can't solve the problem.  It could be a virus or something my son made when he stops some programs when it is on the computer.
