  I have a strange situation here. First of all, I must describe the system:

  • 2 machines both with TS4.1 IDEs installed Win XP SP3,

  This is probably the problem. Subdirs, especially on a network drive to the research should generally be avoided.

  I would recommend against using the options "search subdirectories", even in the case not connected to the network, since then, not only can it lead to performance problems, it can make unintentionally using the incorrect module because the module where you want to say, if you come to specify the name of the file and rely on the recursive search could be ambiguous and have several possible matches. It is best to use a fixed search with a partial if possible relative path directory.   As you reinstalled just Vistas, you would have a very limited number of Restore Points!

  Try the system restore.

  If this does not work, and you don't know what you were doing, reinstall it again.

  Do Safe Mode system restore, if it is impossible to do in Normal Mode.

  That may be a problem with the DDE.

  Try to undo and redo Firefox as default browser.

  If there are problems with the implementation at day then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version and remove the Firefox program folder to remove all remaining files.

  Download a new copy of Firefox and save the file to the desktop.
