Which is exactly the HP_TOOLS partition? Do I need?

Hi, I bought 21/08/2012 , the HP Pavilion dv6-6c01ev Notebook (laptop),

and the hard drive has a partiton with name: HP_TOOLS (e :)) )

Inside in this partition, it has 3 elements:

1 folder with the name "Hewlett-Packard",

1 .dat file with the name 'HP_WSD.dat,'

1 text file with the name 'HPSF_Rep', (inside there that one day, the next day I bought - 22/08/2012)

In the folder "Hewlett-Packard", it's another 4 files:

1 folder named "BIOS" => inside that he has another 3 files: current - news - previous

1 folder named 'BIOSUpdate' => inside there different files...

1 folder named iside "QuickWeb" => there and files and folders...

1 folder named 'SystemDiags' => inside inside, it has various files

So I would you please explain to me, if you can answer me, because I'm confused

1) where is useful this partition ? and all these folders and files...

2) I need this partition? If I delete this partition, will I have problems in the future?

3) is so important that partition? (as the recovery partition)

Thank you for your help...

And also, I just noticed that the Inthie partition file system is FAT32 and not NTFS...

The partition is used for some things

1 stores advanced (advanced hardware diagnostics) UEFI bios tools.

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01443317#N1218

2 is also used during an update of the bios to store the update of the bios and the bios saved which will be replaced, it is crucial to have if for some reason, the bios update fails and the laptop doesn't start, you can restore the backed up old bios, without this partition being present during the bios update You cannot recover and you will have a useless PC. This partition HP_TOOLS also allows the bios to date outside of Windows, which is much safer.

It is only useful when using multi byte character set for your database. Characterset bytes multi means that the database stores a character several bytes. It can use 2-4 bytes, and it can be vary even within a single character set. I mean for example that al32utf8 can store an English character in one byte so that it can store a Chinese tank in 4 bytes only.

VARCHAR2(10 Char) means that you set the maximum length of your column in characters, regardless of the number of bytes needed to store them.

You can also see the docs. It is a very good book called [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14225/ch1overview.htm#sthref51] Oracle® Database Support Guide globalization [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14225/ch3globenv.htm#sthref385] LENGTH SEMATICS also has a page inside...

    BYTE or CHAR
You can use one, but you can change the value in your sessions. and you can combine definitions of length of CHAR and BYTES column in a table.

16 means 16 bites and that character always set uses 2 bytes to store characters if I knew well.

    unique.

For multibyte in the comment in [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14225/applocaledata.htm#sthref1960] column recommended database character sets, see MB

    (8) what is the real advantage of this column NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS and when should we use and do not use it?

Well in a multi language column where several languages can be stored, it is good to use in my humble OPINION.
So you can type/shop in this equal amount column in English or Japanese, Chinese characters.

  • HP_TOOLS partition could be image backup and then restore it on a volume in the extended partition

I bought the spectra of HP envy and want to install Linux on it. Of course, I want to go for dual boot solution, because I don't want the 'magic' of the compensation to the factory default "f9" gone away. Given numbers partitions on my hard drive had achieved maximum

    -System

    -Drive C

    -Recovery disk

    -HP_TOOLS

    -Hibernate

I could not create a partition for Linux more so 1 of them should disappear. I chose the HP_TOOLS external storage because I have rite now is a key USB to 4 Gbs. So I want to do the installation with this sequence

1 / HP_TOOLS to a backup image and store on a USB or C drive.

2 / remove the HP_TOOLS partition and shrink the C drive down to unallocated space to free up additional space.

3 / create partition extended of these extra spaces

3 / use linux installation partition to create swap, / home/root etc. and an another fat32 to restore the HP_TOOLS which places later.

My question is that... this work?

    I read http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and/Okay-to-modify-the-HP-TOOLS-partition/m-...

and inspired by the idea of ctsshxm.

It would not be the solution, then the only option that remains for me is to get out of the HP recovery on a 16Gbs USB partition. Questions will happen if I do this? The resumption of "f9" still works and how could it be?

    Hello

any modification made to the MBR will be f9 recovery to stop working. Please create windows recovery media (using hp Recovery Manager) so that you have the possibility of recovery machine to the State factory at any time thereafter.

also, copy of partition HP_Tools is of no use, because if you do not have the partition and quickweb is used, no use to have a copy with you.

Instead, you can create the partition whenever you want and re - install the quickweb application to make it work again.

    It will be useful.

  • Installation on the wrong partition files

I just install Windows XP on a drive with 2 partitions & put Windows files:

    Boot.ini, NTDETECT.COM & ntldr

on the partition to START NO! Can I safely move everything to the directory/folder root of the boot partition? I would like to do some work for this partition, but I don't want to destroy my new installation. Help, please.

Thank you for your answer, but I've done what you said could not be done & it worked fine. As you & others may want to know how I did it & does the job, here are the steps:

    (1) boot to another drive (or drive traction & mount as USB key). You must have access to the drive, when it is not running the operating system.
    (2) * NOTE * make sure that you perform this step for the right drive!
Command line, navigate to the hard drive to BOOT NO & make "attrib - SHR boot.ini" (remove the system, hidden, read-only attributes).
    (3) change the boot.ini with WordPad by changing the two entries in 'partition (1)
    (4) save boot.ini (if you can not save the file, make sure that you have #2 correctly).
    (5) command-line only 'attrib + boot.ini SHR' (Set to System, hidden, read only attributes).
    (6) move the file boot.ini, NTDETECT.COM & ntldr in C:\ (You may need to set Windows Explorer to view system files).
    7) download Partition Master for free here:
    http://www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm
    8) install Partition Master & run the program.
    (9) set, partition, primary partition C.
    (10) together C partition to partition Active, which also affects the other partition to the inactive at the same time.
    (11) to apply the changes. Shut down the system.
    (13) put the player in return, where it belongs. Initialize your reader!

  • Files saved on the wrong partition

I was spared the HP_Tools partition backups (I don't know why...) and received error messages on disk space is low.  I think I've resolved now.  However, I am very confused.  Can someone direct me to an article that explains the difference between backups, recovery, and restore?  In addition, how and when each would be a good thing.  The item must be super base, however.  Thank you very much.

    Good afternoon!

Thank you for you inquiry, I am happy to help you.

I understand - you want to understand the difference between, backup, restoration and recovery.

Typically, you perform a backup to store a 2nd copy of your data to avoid data loss in the event of a computer crash. When you make one is entirely optional, and is a personal decision.  If you do a lot of work every day and would be very unhappy if it has been lost or could not be recreated.  Recreating takes time.  If you do not have a lot every day, you can make one only once a week.  The only question to ask is how much you don't like losing your data or it would become difficult to recover.   It's time to make your backup.   Some institutions may make hourly backups

You can choose any period of time is the best for you.

Here is a link to System Restore: frequently asked questions to explain what is a restore point.

Here is a link to perform a recovery of the system HP (Windows 8) who will explain the different types of recovery and what each will do.

I hope that have answered all of your concerns.

  • How to display prices with which we won the most?

    Hello guys!

I try to learn a few new skills in oracle sql if I was looking for examples on the web. I found this one, with 6 questions. I did all the tables and all the connections. I knew solve 5 questions but that, finally one seems too difficult for me.

If you don't understand anything, despite my bad English or anythning else, feel free to ask. I would be really happy if we could solve this problem!

As far as I know, bill and section have no impact on this problem.  As Frank said, this looks like a Top - N type problem.  You is a way to get answer:

    dev1 > select gains, num_students, lesson_name, course_name

    2 from (select course_name, lesson_name, num_students, gains,

3 dense_rank() ON rn (salary desc order)

    4 of (select c.name course_name, l.lesson_name,)

    5 count (vr.id) num_students,

    6 sum recipes (p.price)

    7 of course c

    8 Join Conference l

    9 l.fk_course = c.id

    Join the 10 visit vg

    11 on l.id = vg.fk_lecture

    join 12 visitor RV

    13 on vg.fk_visitor = vr.id

    price of 14 p join

    15 p.fk_course = c.id

    Group 16 by c.name, l.lesson_name))

    where the 17 rn = 1;

    LESSON_NAME NUM_STUDENTS PROFIT COURSE_NAME

    ------------------ --------------------- ------------ ----------

    C++, programming 3 750 programming

    Java programming programming 3 750

If you really don't want that one line returned with a tie, then you replace dense_rank, row_number or do something like:

    Select course_name, lesson_name, num_students, recipes

    from (select c.name course_name, l.lesson_name,)

    Count (VR.ID) num_students,

    Sum revenue (p.Price)

    of course c

    join the l Conference

    on l.fk_course = c.id

    Join visit vg

    on vg.fk_lecture = l.id

    Join the vr visitor

    On vg.fk_visitor = vr.id

    Join the price p

    on p.fk_course = c.id

    C.name group, l.lesson_name

    order by 4 desc)

    where rownum = 1;

This structure returns a single line in the case of links, but there is no way to predict which of the related rows will be returned.

  • Replaced the portable hard drive, and I can't delete the EISA partition on original disk (which I want to reuse)

I use a laptop 17 inch set that has two slots for drives 2.5 inch/9.5 mm, but it only came with a hard drive (in the primary).  I recently bought a 160 GB SSD and installed in the main Bay, by completely removing the original hard drive.  I installed Windows Vista Home Premium 32 - bit on my new SSD using my OEM Vista disc (as well as all pilots, maintenance SSD utility provided by its manufacturer, etc.), and it works beautifully.

The secondary hard drive Bay was still empty, so I put my original hard drive (conventional spinning drives) return in this Bay. It was immediately found my BIOS and Windows, so I cut and pasted all the valuable data on my SSD (it is not many).  Then I deleted the main partition, for the purpose of releasing the entire disk for stuff like the music.

Much to my dismay, the snap disk management in the utility included in Windows Vista computer management doesn't let me delete the EISA partition on my old hard drive. When I right click on the Visual representation of the partition, the only option I get is 'Help', 'Remove' or other useful functions (who did not appear for the main partition, and I was able to delete).

I need the EISA partition because A) is not yet on my boot drive and B) I have all my original OEM recovery disks, and they are in excellent condition.

If someone could tell me how I could delete the EISA partition on a hard drive formerly-primary but secondary now 111GB laptop to recover the last 9 GB for use by the illustrious Mozart and Tchaikovsky, I would be very grateful.

I expect there to be a way to do this in Windows, I don't know, that's why I post here, but if not, I am willing to find and download an ISO to burn a disk Knoppix to start Linux temporarily just to delete the EISA partition (well I would really prefer not to do it for various reasons).

I ended up downloading a free disk partitioning softpedia.com hard tool and he was able to delete the EISA partition without problem.  I then uninstalled the free tool I had just downloaded (honestly, I don't even remember the name of the program, but it was not hard to find in the list of hard disk utilities Softpedia search), and then used the disk management snap-in in the computer management utility to format the disk, which now has my music on it.

I started this thread when I thought I was out of options, to quickly realize that some kind of solution could be obtained by downloading something from Softpedia, which was true.

My apologies for taking up forum, but I hope someone in a similar situation finds this useful thread.

    Thank you very much!

  • HP Stream 13: Can I delete the extra partition in Windows 10 which is not marked "allocated".

I have improved my Stream 13-10 Windows.  It was very difficult to do and I ended up doing a clean installation (and pay for the cursed BONES) because I couldn't seem to do the upgrade work.

Now, I seem to have even less disk space I did when she used Win 8.  I have almost no programs installed, I keep all my files on a SD card, I ran disk cleanup, and I moved the "previous operating system" files on SD card.  But I still only 1.2 gig left available.

I read that win 8, there is a recovery partition that was needed to keep it in place.  But when I look at the partitions in disk management it says that there is a 7 Gig "unallocated" partition and a 250 MB EFI partition. In addition to the primary partition.

Is - this 7 concerts really unallocated as unused? Is it always a true recovery partition or is it just an artifact to win the 8 that is no longer used?  Can I combine the C partition and the 7 Gig partition unallocated, so I can actually reinstall MS Office?

Hi, Yes, looks like that when you have done the clean install of Windows 10, you did not wipe the entire hard drive clean first.  The 7 GB partition you see is probably the Windows 8.1 recovery partition remains.  You can delete it now that you run Windows 10, but you cannot extend the C: drive to include the recovered.

You can repeat the clean install new wiping clean the whole disc first. There are instructions here.  I had 19 GB available on my C: drive after a new installation of Windows 10 on my 11 flow.

  • G62 - support of recovery with the recovery partition

    Hi all

I have looked around a bit and can not find specific answers for the problem I have, so I was wondering if anyone here has experience... basically, I'm trying to create recovery DVDs because I want to get rid of the recovery partition (I want to dual-boot with ubuntu but the HP creates a mess of the sheets for a reason any) and it does not burn. 5 DVD so far were ruined because it seems to burn about 0.000001% of the disk then spit it out. The DVD in question are of poor quality DVD-r. I could understand if they were RWs or some off-the-back-of-a-lorry blank DVDs, but they are decent, as it confuses me... especially since I'm as talks about data backup using Explorer standard windows 7 burning thingy, and it burns the DVD with no problems whatsoever

But anyway, as I'm not sure that anyone can help me getting unruly software to accept these DVDs, my plan is to install ubuntu on a dual boot with windows 7, which should be easy to do, but I need to get rid of this partition to do (or I would have preferred to do this way). I would like to point out that HP_TOOLS I saved already, as she was pretty * beep * small. So I was wondering:

    (1) what exactly is IN the recovery partition?

    (2) if it's just windows 7 drivers and some HP bloatware, that's fine (I could certainly do without the latter), but is there something special that, if deleted and unsaved, will make this laptop unusable entirely [n. b. [I have another copy of windows 7, so I'm not too worried about it]?

Thanks for reading, hope it wasn't too much of a tl; Dr.!

    Hello

You are right that the recovery Partition contains only the files to reinstall Windows, all the drivers and all the software that was originally shipped with your laptop - deleting it will not affect not Notepad in any way other than you would be able to reinstall the OS using Recovery Manager.  You can always order a set of replacement of these disks at a later date if you find that you need - there is a small charge for this.

Regarding the creation of a set of recovery discs, usually I had more luck with the DVD + r - as it may be useful to start safe mode and try to create them as this can sometimes help.

    Kind regards

  • Need help with the recovery partition/create recovery media

HI - first thing I did when I got my thinkpad is a clean install of w7, but then I thought about it and restored the recovery partition, conviniently located at the end of the training, in order to create a backup dvd factory. Thing is, when I click the autorun (lenovoqdrive.exe) and select 'create recovery media', I get an error stating that "program files (x 86) \lenovo\factory recovery\recovburncd.exe" is missing... obviously since the operating system partition was crushed.

I tried RnR and looked on the software + drivers page and nothing happens as "... \lenovo\factory recovery\" when it is installed. So, where can I download the program that creates the recovery discs?

(I know possible to restore the operating system of the *.wim file but I want to leave that as a last resort).

Okay here's what I did to who mightve had the same question: as mentioned earlier, I have restored the partition Q with (your favorite free partition recovery tool), then booted from a usb winpe (with imagex) generated from victory aik (free).

first I deleted (from winpe boot usb) windoze partition with diskpart and recreated the 2 partitions S & C (and Q is on the left) by hand according to 'recovery.ini' found on q. then I restored S and C 'sdrivebackup.wim' and 'cdrivebackup.wim', respectively, using imagex.exe, which is actually two one liners.

Finally, I tried the bcd to fixation by hand according to "bcdinfo.txt", also found on Q, but that did not really work... so I just jumped into a bootable win7 USB and he rewrote the bcd by itself (I assume). the last step has been fixing the mbr by using /fixmbr and /fixboot bootrec.exe.

ATM I started just and afaict it behaves exactly like the first start-up of the plant. see you soon
