I live in a House with other roommates and need to know if there is a way with windows vista to restrict my network speed and download. I looked at the software and routers, routers, or way out of my price range and offers much more, then I would need a home network.   There is no option to set the download speed on a particular computer in Windows Vista. There are 3 third party applications which allows you to limit the download speed of Windows Vista.

  I had the same problem. At the same time hold the screen lock button and the home button until your iPhone restarts. That solved the problem for me.

  Reinstall the drivers for DVD player and check.

  1. click on start > run

  3. in Device Manager, expand CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives, right click on the device CD and DVD and then click on uninstall.
  4. When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove the device, click OK.
  5 restart the computer.
  6. when the computer restarts, the drivers will be installed automatically.

  I watched updates of the audio driver for my pc and am not sure which one I need or you can even use it.

  Although "4.1" speaker systems are very common, the ADA745 should work without problems on a new system.  I have no connection to the ADA745 info but I guess it would connect everything as you are currently connected to the old PC.  New systems PC audio supports up to 7.1 speaker (with the most common 2.1 or 5.1) systems.  There is no drivers for speakers, however, you need to define the types of speakers in the control panel (e.g. article 4.1, and if this isn't an option, try the 5.1 and see if works well).   Printed with the new PC installation worksheet should detail the audio connections and if not, there is a copy of the Dell manual loaded on your PC and it has the details on the back panel connections.

  In Vista, the sound control panel is accessible by Start/Control Panel/hardware and sound/Sound.

  Well, I tried something I should have done immediately: download the latest driver wireless.

  After you have installed the latest driver for my G62-340US laptop wireless, I'm finally reaching internet download speeds similar to my office (which is connected directly to the router).

  I will edit this post once I have do some testing LAN speed, but it looks very promising so far...

  EDIT:

  Yep, LAN speeds are where they should be with my current wireless router.

  Anyone else having a problem with slow download speeds should update their driver.
