  I had a peek in on the Firefox Add-ons site download managers and we found quite a few extensions that might help.

  Firefox already contains some download management options and these extensions (whether on their own or with others) will expand to this.

  The new version is fine, but I don't know why you would do this change. This is no logic coming from Firefox because I think it's you guys who presents the Download Manager window. Anyone who uses Firefox knows that when you close the window, the downloads remain... at least until now. Maybe an option during installation?

  I, as well as others I know not switched back to Firefox from Chrome due to latency issues, but I'm sure that many of your users is returned to Chrome or IE misfortune because of this problem.

  You can set the pref browser.download.manager.quitBehavior to 2 on the topic: config page.

  That will make Firefox asks for confirmation if you want to cancel the download when you close Firefox.

  The library is where downloads are now displayed. The 'normal' downloads window disappeared for several weeks now in every night. BTW, there's a new toolbar (arrow pointing down) button in the Palette for downloads; It has a "door hangers" which shows the current downloads on the slider "stationary."

  Options > general - "save the file to" and "ask me where...» "is always present for me on Windows XP.

  Options > security always has the "Show passwords" button for me.

  The SDM and the early HP rating program (FUP) are the exact same application. One that is installed depends on passing a switch command line for the installation program (Setup.exe): no switch = SDM, switches = EEP. That is why we find it confusing that SDM updated and installed the EEP.

  You can go to run as SDM EEP, but rather to explain all the manual settings that need to be made, we recommend the following:

  • Uninstall the SDM/EEP.
  • Delete all the files and subdirectories in this directory: C:\ProgramData\HP SoftPaq Download Manager.

  Right-click on the program, and then select Properties.  Click on the Compatibility tab.  Select run as administrator.  Click on apply to save the changes.  Click OK to close the window.  Document manager should now automatically run as administrator.

  Why do you insist that I use Akamai Download Manager (which I hope is never downloaders) in order to download anything?

  Based on the advice of others, I tried to bypass it by clicking on the link "file 1 of 1.  But that does not give me the CF 11 installation file.  It still links to "Adobe ColdFusion 11 - AkamaiDLM.exe".

  I recently installed the update to Flash on my laptop HP - Windows Vista 64-bit - and every time I open a browser to the Download Manager window trying to settle and fails.

  • Opens new browser window
  • A window with a bar saying "Install Adobe Download Manager" with a progress bar appears.
  • System opens a window for Adobe Download Manager user account control. Details: a path to a temporary directory, I think.
    
  • Click on "continue".
  • Installation ADM with the progress bar window back to the top.
  • ADM window opens with no inside except the title bar text.
    
  • Another window of user account control is RPF getPlus Helper. Details - (D70899C5-C07F-46FD-8053-51EEF4CF578A)
    
  • Click on continue.
  • ADM window has no text other than a big orange button that says close Adobe Download Manager. Please see attached file.
    
  • There is no program contained in the programs in Control Panel. I don't know where to look in the registry or how to change it even if I found it

  I tried to cap the windows User Account Control screen, but they take over the system and perforated Cap does not work.

  I have to go through this everytime I open a browser window and I want to get rid of this irritation as malware. The web search brought me here, but I was unable to fnd anything that addressed this specific problem. I run a charitable organization, so I have little time for this and it greatly influences my effectiveness.

  What I was asking is why did open a browser window try to install the ADM?  Is your page "home" browser set to something that requires a download of Adobe? Is it so when you start the browser safe (no plugins)?

  I would like to install a download manager different than that is Firefox. I was with Free Download Manager 2.0.14 until the last update disabled as not compatible. What external download managers will work with the last updated? I'm on dial-up internet and large downloads take a lot of time with starts and stops in between.

  My Firefox crashes regularly as wee. Suggestions how to solve these two problems.

  Is the download manager that you are using a Firefox extension? If so, have you checked that the extension is up-to-date and compatible with the latest version of Firefox?

  Also, is it possible that the button you are looking for should be added to the Firefox toolbar? Customize Firefox commands, buttons, and toolbars.
