Why is my battery icon gray just a box in my taskbar?
Hello
I just brought a Toshiba running windows 8 Professional Kira ultrabook.
I've only had the laptop for a day and the battery in the taskbar icon is a gray square:
I spent the last 2 hours trying to find an answer on this forum and others, but I have not found something that worked.
Some people have had a similar problem and a solution was to go into Device Manager and uninstall "microsoft compatible ac adapter" then "News Analysis".
"material", unfortunately, this solution did not for me.
Desperately hoping that someone will know an solution :)
See you soon
Joel

The battery icon will not be displayed on the taskbar/system tray
The small icon in the system tray notification stopped appearing after a year and a half of work. I already went to the Control Panel, to the taskbar and start menu, went to the area of notification and for some reason that I can't verify the right of the checkbox beside where it says clock. The 3 above I can check and uncheck the box no problem, but for some reason any vista won't see me is how responsible. My battery was dying and I got the prompt, "your battery is capable of loading normally, however blah blah." So I have no idea what is wrong, I hope someone can help?

Dear all,
I bought a X 230 (i7) laptop. I found that has removed the battery from the laptop and use only the power supply with the X 230 Notenook. The CPU frequency will said to 1189 MHz. It will not change no matter how the laptop program is running. The CPU frequency will increase to 2.9 GHz or up to Turbo when the laptop with battery or battery and AC power. Why the CPU frequency will be just said to 1189 MHz when the X 230 had AC power ONLY (battery removed)? This is not good. No matter which setting in X 230 Notebook need to change? Help, please.
Welcome to the forum!
What you feel is the factory default setting. You may or may not be able to get around using an adapter 90 w instead of a 65W one, but I've generally not recommended to use the ThinkPads without a pile of work.

To do: Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. Portege R100 - XP shows constantly the battery icon at 0%
Hello!
I have a Portege R100 with just the standard battery. Having bought used, it has been reinstalled with Windows XP and all the drivers of the unit in question and public services. The BIOS has been improved to 1.60 and ACPI common Modules installed.
The problem is that XP shows constantly 0% battery icon, even if the power supply is on. As far as hardware is concerned, the battery charge and works very well for about 1.75 hours. As far as XP is concerned, there is no battery.
It's very weird and a bit frustrating! Can anyone maybe shed some light on this and, more specifically, if it is the battery or the charging circuit in the R100 itself? Obviously, one is a * much * more expensive than the other!
Thanks in advance,
Sophie.

Hello
You don t the right something on your operating system, but I assume you are using Win 7
Windows 7 hides most of the default status bar icons.
You need to fix to 'Show' If you want to show it again.
But even when hidden, you can display all the icons in the status bar by clicking the small arrow just to the left of the status bar.You can do this:
Right click on the taskbar-> properties-> in the 'Notification area' click on 'Customize' and then (the battery icon) 'display the icon and notifications '. -

Hello
Well, I have a question about battery:
Is not supposed to move in the icon next time and not become constant on the screen of the laptop while recharging? like when load you mobile phone that it moves up to his full supportBecause in mine only move after I plugged the cable the battery of entrance for a few seconds and then stop to move and become in the background and the very slow recovery.
Is this normal? because I used to see other laptops try icon moves while it recharges like a mobile phone
help would be very appreciated
Hello
That s nothing unusual in my case it of the same.
If you unplug the power adapter, you will see just a battery icon.
If you connect the adapter once more, the battery icon would be changed to the icon of the battery with a small power supply. Now, this icon is moving for a few seconds and then it seems stable.
Only the battery indicator flashes orange during charging. -

living options volume and battery are grayed out.
My wife has a dell xps m1330. the volume and the icon of life batteries have work then dissappeared. I looked to where you would turn on them, but they grayed. I can't turn their back on. How do you get them back on?
Hi Jarynelle,Thanks for choosing Microsoft answers Forum.
This problem may occur if the Windows group policy disables the power (or battery), and Volume icons, or the registry keys related to notification area icons have corrupted. To re-enable and restore policies must be turned off, and the registry keys, cleared or fixed.Activate the system via Local Group Policy Editor icons
Run GPedit.msc to start local Group Policy Editor.
Expand the tree and access Configuration user-> templates-> Start Menu and taskbar to administration.
Change the status value the value to Disable or not configured for the following group policies allow the display or the display of the icon in the notification area.
Volume: Remove the volume control icon
Power (battery) icon: remove the battery meter
Close the local Group Policy Editor.
Restart Explorer, Log off and log back or restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
User who uses Windows without Local Group Policy Editor can change the registry value via the Publisher of the registry instead.
Turn on the system icons to display or display via the registry
Run the registry (RegEdit.exe) editor.Navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
Delete and delete the following registry values in the right pane:HideSCAPower
HideSCAVolume
NoTrayItemsDisplayThen, navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ExplorerYet once, remove all if found following registry values:HideSCAPower
HideSCAVolumeExit Registry Editor.
Explore and restart, logoff and connection of the output again, or reboot the computer to apply the changes.
