Windows 10 up grade

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-CS215 J which was originally run under Windows Vista and I have upgraded to Windows 7.

Now let me turn again to Windows 10.

Is it possible? or I have to make problems.

Yhank you

As long as your computer meets the system requirements, then the answer is: Yes

If you want the free update for Windows 10 it would be the path. Upgrade Vista to Windows 7 and Windows 7-Windows 10.

Please note that there must be available Windows 7 device drivers for your computer and the model number. If there is no Windows 7 available device driver then you're stuck with Vista that Windows 7 will not work correctly.

Windows 7 Professional upgrade - Vista owners: be aware that the upgrade to Windows 7 Professional can be used only to perform a upgrade in place for computers that have Vista Business Edition. Unfortunately there is no indication on the box or retail in the EULA/license restrictions of invalid paths to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional.
http://www.PAGESTART.com/windows7proupgade.html

Users of Vista Home Basic, your choice of upgrade is: Windows 7 Home Basic Edition, Premium 7 or 7 Ultimate

Users of Vista Home Premium, is your choice of upgrade: Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate 7

Users of Vista Business, your choice of upgrade is: Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise

Users of Vista Enterprise: only one way of upgrading that is: Windows 7 Enterprise

Vista Ultimate users: once again as a way of upgrading that is: Windows 7 Ultimate.

  • Install Vista on the new hard drive with upgrade media

Original harddrive in Lenovo has failed. I replaced but didn't have a recovery disk. I bought Windows Ultimate up grade, and he scored when I installed the new drive. After the initial installation, new drive must be reformatted (again). Now windows says my registration number is already installed. It was purchased by me and installed on my original Lenovo machine. I have the original product code on the back of my Lenovo and the new product code on Vista Ultimate box. What can I do to register again? Thank you. Mike

You must first install the original operating system and activate.  THEN install the Vista upgrade and which activate.  You can't ignore all during the installation of the original operating system.  You can't do a full install of a drive to upgrade (or product key).  I suggest that contact the manufacturer for a set of discs of recovery of re - install the original system.  It is the only way that this is possible.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Is it legal to use and the version of Windows XP OEM from an old computer (to be retired) to the lower-grade a Vista to XP computer?

(I have a few Win XP computers running the great. And I like Win XP.)

    Here's the situation:

I have also a Vista computer and a very very old computer Win XP.  This computer very very old win XP has been in the dust of basement collection and will be sent to the recycling center.

    Question:

The two Vista and old Win XP computers came with the OEM version of windows.  (Not the retail version.)

Is it legal to use the Windows XP from this very old (to be retired) computer to down-grade the Vista to XP computer?

(Will do that if it is not legal.)

    Thank you

    Skip

Sorry, no. You cannot move an OEM license on another computer.

You can move the windows on a new computer

If it's a full license or upgrade retail - Yes. You can move it to another computer as long as it is installed on one computer at a time (and if it's a version upgrade the new Windows computer must have its own license of qualification). The previous Windows installation on your old computer must be formatted or deleted. You will have to perhaps call Microsoft and explain what happened to complete activation. Turning it on the second computer will automatically be in effect 'disable' the license for the first computer.

If it's an OEM license - don't. OEM licenses, including Windows preinstalled on a computer before purchase and Windows purchased separately, are related to the first computer, they are installed on and cannot be transferred to another computer. To install Windows on another computer, you will need to buy another copy.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

You must install Windows 7 as a new copy on the system.

  • my pc is Windows xp. but I up grade to windows7 and I want to register with microsoft. can I use the same disc if I reboot my pc?

    help me with this plese...

It is not clear what you're asking. Next time please put your question - with enough detail to be clear - in the body of the message, not on the subject line.

I interpret your message to mean:

    1. you have a computer with Windows XP.
    2. you're going to buy a Windows 7 upgrade, using the Windows XP install like materials for upgrading qualification.
    3. you want to know if you can use the Windows XP license on another computer.

If I interpreted your message correctly, the answer is 'no '. The Windows XP license is subsumed under the license of Windows 7 when you use it for an upgrade.

If this wasn't what you meant, please clarify. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

How to get Vista recovery Media or the Vista recovery Partition on your computer back to factory settings.

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • Can I up grade to Windows 7 Professional for Vista Home Premium?

My daughter gave me Windows 7 Professional for Christmas.  My HP laptop is a little older than a year.  Read the info seems to be saying that I can't move from Vista Home Premium?  I have not opened the package.  I allow to share and save money?  Or is there a way for me to install installing first as a base and then upgrade to the professional?

Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

    Ideas:

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

Can not perform a direct upgrade to Windows 7 Professional to Windows Vista Home Premium - a "clean" installation is necessary.  Please see: upgrade Windows Vista to Windows 7 (custom installation).  The only version that can perform a direct upgrade from Windows Vista Home Premium is Windows 7 Ultimate edition.  Please download and run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and follow the recommendations contained in the report it generates.
