Windows 8 for Canon MP160 printer driver

I just bought a new laptop with Windows 8 is installed. When I try to install my printer, I get an error saying that there is no driver. Where can I download a driver for this printer and the OS from?

The last driver from canon site seems to be for Windows 7. However, it can be installed and works correctly with Windows 8. If you want to try it, download and install according to the instructions.

http://www.Canon.ca/inetCA/ServiceDetail?m=load&ID=5&SID=27&mid=0002200246&type=D&opt=1

There is a driver for the MP 150 series available through Windows update. If you want to try this one, let us know and I'll post directions and instructions.

  • Windows 7 x 64 Driver for Canon i9100 printer

When I try to install my Canon i9100 printer on my HP laptop running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, Windows is unable to locate a driver.  Visit the Canon Website, I find an update for Windows driver module.  Cannon wrote that the printer MUST be installed using Windows Updater before their update of the driver can be installed.  I tried everything, but I can not get Windows to find a driver.  Windows Update says that my computer is Up To Date.

    What I am doing wrong?

    Thank you

    David

I'm also not able to install the necessary drivers from Microsoft to connect my Canon i9100 printer.  Can you direct me to the correct driver site?  I have a windows 7 64-bit operating system.

When Canon says that "your printer must be installed through Microsoft Update before you download and use this module", this does not mean you should run Windows Update (or Microsoft Update).

The Support Engineer's view is not correct: Windows Update can't find a new driver for a device that is not yet installed.

    A, Normal mode

What does the message mean, is that your computer must be connected to the Internet when you try to install the Canon i9100.  When you connect the printer, Windows should search for a driver.  When it cannot find a driver locally, you should get a pop-up message asking permission to connect to Windows Update to search for a driver.  You should allow this.  Windows should then find the driver online, download it and complete the installation.

If this does not work, you can get the driver in one of two ways.

    B. manually through Windows Update.

    1. Unplug the printer from the computer
    2. Click Start > devices and printers
    3. Click "add a local printer.
    4. Click "Use an existing port" and leave the default to LPT1, and then click Next
    5. Select the Canon in the list of manufacturers
    6. Confirm that there is no entry for the i9100 in the list of printers, and then click 'Windows Update'
    7. Wait... This may take some time... when it's done, check the i9100 is now listed
    8. Leave the printer Installation Wizard
    9. Connect the printer to a USB port and it should now install correctly

    C. go to the Windows Update Catalog

Even if the above methods should work, you also learned how to https://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspx using Internet Explorer only , and search for "Canon i9100.  You should get 5 hits.  Click on each of the drivers for Windows 7.  Look at the line that reads "Architecture."  If you have Windows 7 32 bit, you need the x 86 version.  If you have Windows 7 64 bit, you need the AMD64 version.  The procedure to install a driver got that way is a bit complex.  If the methods A or B do not work, post to get further instructions.

  • Need Driver Windows 7 for HP 6122 printer

I can't find a Windows 7 driver for my old printer HP Deskjet 6122.  Windows Update does not come to the top with almost anything.  HP Web site suggests using another driver HP 990c, HP seems to think that this driver is available from a menu in Windows 7 but it's not.  I used this printer with a Vista computer that died today and only had just bought new ink jet cartridges.  Then I come home with a new Satellite from Toshiba with Windows 7 and impossible to get printing to work with her.

I can assure you that this driver (replacing hp deskjet 990c) is available by using Windows Update. I have the same printer and I installed it successfully.

First, plug your printer and turn it on, then...

Start > devices and printers > add a printer > if this is a local printer connected directly via USB to your laptop, select Add a local printer and specify the correct port: USB... and then go to > press the Windows Update button and wait for the list > in the manufacturer list choose: choose HP in printers: hp deskjet 990c > finish the rest of the installation...

If this is a network printer that is connected by a router, you may need to read section Setup LPR for Windows Vista (any Vista/7) in the middle of this article: LPR printing

Go in the * Canon * Website and look. I can't tell you if
the drivers, you need exist or not, but keep in mind that each time a
new operating system comes out, the former hardware manufacturers
often decide that it is is not worth their time and their efforts to develop
new drivers for it. So, you might well be out of luck.

How do make you them work together?

Canon IP400 is a printer pretty old and you my not to operate correctly with the W8.

Go to the Canon website below and download and install "Printer Driver add-on Module Ver.1.10 (Windows 7/7 x 64. I noticed that they have only drivers for x 64. Thus, your PC must be a x 64.

  • Instructions for custom universal printer driver

You need a print driver custom, only once.  Will not not make a career out of this.

Is there a simple how-to, step by step to that anywhere?

(I've seen page 220 + 'guide', and it's not what I'm after.) Too many words for my ADD brain.)

    Thank you very much.

OK, Windows XP may not be as flexible in the control of what could make a user determined, but I'd suggest the following:

Download and install the two drivers and the M551 Laserjet Enterprise 500 color printer series driver the HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL5.  After the printers are installed, you can rename and customize them.  I suggest you call the driver universal a "Black Printing" or something like.  Click on start, Control Panel, printers and faxes, right-click on HP PCL5 universal print, properties, General, rename the printer in a suit, a request, click the device tab settings, do scroll down to the print color Mode and Turn Off, and apply, click the general tab, the print options, chooese the appropriate default print settings (it may be desirable for this printer select EconoMode on the paper/quality tab) well.

Even defined the parameters for the Laserjet 500 color M551 version and an appropriate name.

  • Window update causing problems of printer driver

Hi, I have a laptop running XP and router wireless computer (WAG54G) and a set of HP6380 in one. About 2 nights ago an update to Windows Installer by himself and rebooted the laptop (even though I have some turned off automatic updates what they seem to be screwing with anything these updates produce still grr)...

I went to try and print and to found the 6380 was absent from the list of available printers... The problem is not with the wireless network (as it is trendy and functional). I don't know what it does the update of windows... but when I tried to reinstall the drivers for this printer from the disc, he acknowledged that they were already installed... So I uninstalled them instead (and it is taken up only parts of the driver remained and he removed these pieces).

Then I tried to do a fresh driver... install that took a long time because it got stuck at the end... Finally, he came up with an error and so I tried to introduce him, HP - and received click on a desktop icon... (Icon HP - XP Installation). I tried it but it tells me to 1) Reinstall driver (done twice -) solve printing problems wireless (not a problem at this point given that I have no printer driver and I can use the network wireless for other things very well) well tried anyway... or 2

Anyone has any suggestions please > in the past when Windows updates have caused problems, I used the system restore to roll back, but this is only a temporary solution - as Windows insists on the updates I want!

    Thank you very much!

If you have the original HP software CD, look in the folder of the ccc/utils for a L3_unintsall (or similar).  Run for an uninstall very full.

    Reset.

Now, download the latest version of the software for your printer from the "Support & Driver" link at the top of this page.  DO NOT reinstall from the CD (a good rule is in general not the CDs software, but to go to the website of the manufacturer for the latest and best).

When you request support, please provide the model name and product number complete (p/n) of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq made thousands of computer models. Without this information, it can be difficult, even impossible to help you solve your problem.

The information requested above are on the bottom of your computer, inside the battery compartment or on the BIOS boot screen. Please see How can I find my model number or product number? for help more to find this information. DO NOT include your serial number. Please enter the product/model information consumer HP Online Support page and post it here for our review.

If you create your personal HP recovery media, please contact official HP Customer Support, via the Portal Support HP's worldwide, to see if the HP recovery support is available for your computer.

    Alternatively, you can try this download of Windows 8 OEM; http://www.Google.com/URL?SA=t & rct = j & q = en_windows_8_x64_dvd_915440.iso & source = web & cd = 1 & cad = AJLN sqi = 2...

It is a unofficial "official licensed copy of Windows 8 OEM." Download this file (you may have to try several times or several times successfully download this file) and burn the ISO image to a DVD. Set the BIOS to use UEFI, enable 'Secure Boot' and disable 'Legacy Support... If these options are present. Boot from that disk and install Windows 8. It should register as an official copy and use the key embedded in the BIOS. Please note that any customizations HP or HP value-added is installed using this method.

Please guide me to reinstall windows 8 or 10 for the new HARD drive via online, coz' I don't have any support recovery (DVD or USB).

    And further,

1.) is it possible to reinstall windows for one SSD?

If your system already has Windows installed and activated 10 follow my instructions here to directly download and reinstall clean Windows 10:

    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/download-Windows-10-OEM-and-retail-ISO/

    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/a-clean-install-of-Windows-10/Windows-10-clean-reinstallation-via-bootable-USB-from-ISO/

Looks like you're in this scenario.

Note Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 editions are specific. If your system came with Windows 8.1/10 unilingual homepage, Windows 8.1/10 will not be activated.

Unfortunately there is no clear marker for end users to determine the edition so my advise is to try first to try Windows 10 Home, if she does not activate Windows 10 unilingual homepage.

Get a SSD for optimal performance.

Dell have updated drivers for Windows 10 pilots (WT64a) system:

    http://downloads.Dell.com/published/pages/Inspiron-15R-5521.html

See installing the driver recommended order:

    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/2015/09/27/driver-installation-order-Windows-10/

If Windows 10 was not enabled you must reinstall Windows 8.1 and then upgrade. Follow my instructions here:

  • How can I reinstall the window 8 for a new hard drive?

I just got a new hard drive for Dell to replace the old, which is at the top and about to fail (according to the Dell diagnostic tool).

Reference Dell included a record called 'Restoration of Windows 8 for Windows 8 64-bit products Support'

I'm a layman, but can certainly replace the hard drive. What exactly should I do it (step by step, if possible) when I turn on the computer for the first time with the new hard drive in place. The disc should already be in the optical drive?

    Thanks, Alex

There is not much to be done in any real particular order really.  It won't hurt to have the disc in the drive the first time that you start with the new player connected, but even if are not the worst case, you get a "no OS on this disc, press ctrl + Alt + Del to restart".

When start you, you may need to press a special sequence on the keyboard like F2 or DEL or Escape to boot from the CD. He can say so on the screen, or it can just try first default (likely) CD.

In any case, once you start from the CD, it is a wizard from there. Simply press 'next' and 'agree' and all that jazz to what Windows 8 is installed back. Then search for updates & restart for the next 4 days :)
