Windows 8 Installation, no HARD drive detected

Hi guys,.

My first post here and hope I can find a solution here. I have the Alienware 17 X R4. My main HARD drive is the 256 GB SSD. So, apparently, I had windows 8.1 and everything was working fine until I don't know how I got the 10 installed top windows. So now, I have 10 windows on it. After using it for a day, that I wanted to do a clean install just so I could get rid of some unnecessary errors. I created a bootable USB stick using the alienware respown. When I tried to do a clean install I just cleaned my C drive and chose the option to completely clean my drive. The installation failed, and now I'm left with a computer that does not have an operating system on it. Since nothing did not work I thought of formatting my C drive which I did using the command prompt and also decided to return to windows 8. I had the USB bootable to windows 8. I has not changed anything on the system BIOS configuration, but would still installation system and ensured that I return to the default settings just to be sure.

I started installation of windows 8 and here my problem, I am not all readers. I had 2 HDD. An SSD is and the other is a regular 1 TB of HARD drive. I don't see any of my hard drives so I can't install windows more. I also ran the full system diagnostics, and it seems all good. I tried to put the discs into the USB port but it would still give me an error. Finally, I read somewhere on the internet to change something in the RAID BIOS to ACHI. I did and that actually worked. But I tried to install windows and when it reaches it took some time and that the installation was not performed. Now I don't know what to do about this. Please someone suggest something, I want to just my computer running with the right settings. I don't want to waste his time. If anyone has an ideas please let me know.

Thank you

Delvallée

Don't bother trying to reinstall Windows 8, it is now obsolete. Since you already had put Windows upgraded to Windows 10. Your systems hardware profile is saved with a Microsoft Product Activation Server and considered a Device 10 Windows , this means that you can reinstall clean Windows 10 directly. See here for more information about getting support for Installation of Windows 10:

http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/download-Microsoft-Windows-and-Office/Download-Microsoft-Windows/download-Windows-10-OEM-and-retail-ISO/

You must use the right support to Installation of Windows 10 and not a Windows 10 disk recovery you have a system with several hard drives. Make sure that you select the correct edition. Skip the product three times in the course of installation and Windows 10 key it will activate automatically.

You should not need to prepare and load the SATA drivers for Installation of Windows 10 support, but if you make them instructions are here:

To install Windows XP, you must have a driver for the disk controller VMware disc. You can consult this article for download one-

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=1000863&sliceId=1&docTypeID=DT_KB_1_1&dialogID=32908933&StateID=0%200%2029476991

If that one doesn't work, then, you must submit a request for support and ask management to send you the right driver

    Hi Carolinelightfoot,

This error message occurs when the system could not read and write data to the registry file. The error indicates a problem with the registry.

    Method 1:

You can run a Checkdisk to see if there are drive errors that can cause this problem.

Check your hard drive for errors

Note: When you run the disk check, there is a chance of losing the data that you can take a backup of important data before you run checkdisk.

    Method 2:

You can also try to boot from a full version of Windows Vista installation disc and try to perform a restore of the system to WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment)

What are the system recovery options in Windows Vista?

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Installation of Windows on a new hard drive

I have a computer I want to get a new, more large hard drive. The vehicle currently has Windows Vista installed on it and the hard drive still works, I just need more space. What should I do to install Windows on the new drive? I will use the installation disc that came with the computer. If I get out the old hard drive, install a new one, put Windows on the new, then format the old one? Basically, I want to avoid having Windows installed on two hard drives to work.

    Hello

the steps you have mentioned are correct:

take out the old hard disk - the new drive hard install - reinstall vista - old erase hard drive

You can then use a the old hard drive to backup your data

and read too much about the displacement of the full to avoid you operating system having to load data and programs again. but then you still wipe the old disk

It might make you save time and effort:

hard drive manufacturers will normally provide the cloning software to move your operating system installed from the old to the new hard disk

Search for information on this subject on their Web site

If you have vista business or ultimate, you can use the builtin vista complete PC Backup to move

    read the information below

or if you have vista home version you'll need 3rd party software

The disc is defective, stop using the PC now, replace the hard drive with a new one and reinstall Windows using your HP recovery media.

Once you windows reinstalled on the new disk and the PC is running windows, fix the old hard disk on the pc using a sata to usb adapter, see if you can see the drive in Windows Expl. ORER, if you can copy out of your important files on the new drive C.

You say that you have started from the XP CD, but something is wrong with that
you do. Just boot from the CD and follow the prompts for a
clean install. A new installation by formatting the

    Hello

There are different ways to do

and these methods depend on your hard drive work

hard drive manufacturers will normally provide the cloning to move your operating system software from the old to the new drive hard If your old hard drive still works

Search for information on this subject on their Web site

If you have vista business or ultimate, you can use the builtin vista complete PC Backup to move

    read the information below

also to put your machine how you bought:

    1. If vista is preinstalled, you should have a recovery on your old hard drive partition

You can recovery disks to reinstall on your new drive hard If the old drive still works

ask the manufacturer of the machine how

    2. contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

    3. or borrow a microsoft dvd vista

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

The OEM of Windows 8.0/8.1 license is related to the motherboard and not the hard drive, so you can reuse the new hard disk provided his will in the same computer.

About the old drive you need not to worry about the formatting as the old disk can never be reused. If you want to be sure, you can physically break the old disk with a hammer before throwing.
