Windows 8 mail "e-mail" as Outlook rules?

I have so many set up in Outlook e-mail rules. Is it possible to have e-mail rules in windows 8 mail?

Hi Kathy,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community forums!

I understand from the description you posted, you need set up e-mail rules in the Mail application.

Outlook is a Microsoft messaging client that has an option to set up e-mail rules.

Unfortunately, you cannot configure rules in the application Mail in Windows 8. There are only a few options and parameters; You can change the Mail application.

Check out these links for more information about the Mail application:

Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:

    For Messages:

Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail. Open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

    Location of OE message store:

In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

    For addresses:

Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

Open the Contacts list in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.

Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.

In OE: Tools | Accounts, select the account and export it to the desktop. This will be an .iaf file. Copy it to the new computer and WLMail desktop: tools | Accounts and import the settings from the location you saved the.

Whenever I get messages with windows mail or outlook express, all attachments of JPG will not come through.  I can change the security setting to allow dangerous files and they will come through.  I don't know what happened to two computers at the same time.  I had not changed all the parameter before it began.

  • Export of email from Windows Mail to Outlook 2003

Can I export e-mails from Windows Vista Mail to Outlook 2003

    1. the process requires Outlook and Windows Mail being installed and functional on the machine do the transfer.

    2. to move the e-mail messages, export to Microsoft Outlook (or Exchange) of in Windows Mail.  This places the e-mail messages in the Outlook Personal Folders file that is attached to the default Outlook profile.  When you then open Outlook, your messages will be already there, no need to import.  Export emails from OE/Windows Mail still works better than import with Outlook.

    3. to move Contacts, export them Windows Mail for one. CSV (Comma Separated Values) file and import the given in Outllook.

  • Windows Live Mail does not present as an option for default programs or in the Start Menu.

Something happened this week. I can't identify enough exactly when so I can't say with certainty whether or not it is the new update of 2011.

I use Windows Live Mail (desktop application) for the mail. It is installed and since I built the machine first. I've recently updated for 2011 through Windows Update. In the Start Menu, the default e-mail link no longer works. If I go to customize, I have the options of Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, and Outlook. If I select Windows Live Mail, it launches a web browser to go to live.com and use Hotmail (which I don't use).

Now, if I choose Windows Mail, and then re - open Windows Live Mail manually, I can set it by default. In this case, when I go back into the Start Menu, the link is there but empty and you get a message that "the selected item is not available. It might have been moved, renamed, or deleted. You want to remove from the list? "I can't get around that. Under "Default programs" in the Control Panel, Windows Live Mail is not yet there. It's as if she is not yet installed, and whatever the shortcut points to (wherever it may be) is apparently nothing. In the registry, under HKLM/Software/customers/Mail, there is no key for 'DLLPath' and "LocalizedString" as there are other programs.

I must point out that repair installation does not help and neither does file and reinstalling.

I managed to solve the problem.  I received an email from another user and I'm sorry to say, I do not remember what were the instructions in the email.  The answer to (y) our problem used to exist on the web, until Microsoft has removed the old answers live site, or something like that.

IIRC, I believe that it was fixing the misdirected registry keys.

  • Cannot send mail with Hotmail on Windows Live Mail, error 0x8DE00005

I can't send an email to my hotmail account. Download Live Mail error ID 0x8DE0005. Help, please!

[Original title: can not send email]

    Server error: 3219
Windows Live Mail error ID: 0x8DE00005

These error codes indicate that your Outlook.com account has been upgraded to the new version. Please log in to the account to http://mail.live.com; do you see something like that in the upper left of the window?

If so, you cannot use DeltaSync for access to this account. You can find instructions to set up the account using the IMAP protocol on this page: Windows Live Mail and Outlook e-mail

If you connect Windows Live Mail with this account, you will find that the calendar or contacts don't will sync any more.

If all goes well, this will be a temporary situation until an update is released for Windows Live Mail to synchronize these accounts once more.

  • Emails, do not download Windows Live Mail of BT Yahoo

My wife's cell phone bought in 2011 running Windows 7 and it uses Windows Live Mail to his email. She has accounts of BTinternet and until about two weeks ago e-mails downloaded easily from the BT Yahoo accounts. E Mails can be read on the BT Yahoo server but do not download in Windows Live Mail more. Strangely it can send form emails Windows Live one of his accounts.

How can I fix this please?

    Colin

Microsoft no longer supports the so-called synchronization delta including windows live mail uses
If you use ONLY to send and not calendar & contacts windows live mail (any version), you can configure to operate using IMAP/POP.  If you do not need to synchronize the calendar & contacts...
It is an excellent replacement for Windows live mail which is free to try (up to 2 accounts) that BECAUSE of the work with the new outlook e-mail format called emclient.  There is also a paid version. You can either get here
It works with Exchange, POP, IMAP and looks like Windows live mail.  Frankly, it's the first replacement I've seen that actually works.  I spent.
They have their own support forums, a decent product and seem to be the only replacement for WLM that has the appearance of it.
You can import all your windows live mail in emclient easily by doing a file > import > windows live mail.  This will import your current data of WLM in emclient
On the side of caution I make a copy of the entire record of the WLM and save it somewhere safe.
There is a good wiki about it here
