I get an error message: windows defender error 0x8000106ba. What is c? I use windows Vista Home Basic. This happened only after I installed mcafee antivirus protection or either windows updates. I don't know but anyway that I can't get rid of the message. and it does not access my start-up changing the programs in Control Panel.

1. open an elevated command prompt. To do this, clickStart, click principally made programs, accessories, right-click Guest, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.
2. type the following command and press ENTER:
sfc/scannow
The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

Is it possible that the message said you that Windows Defender does not work?
If so, maybe the following could explain why:If you have the following AV, antivirus, programs installed, close your Windows Defender. Purpose of these AVs have their own advocates. 2 defenders on the same machine will create conflicts.
Bottom line: it's ok. It's normal.

You apparently Forefront security or installed Microsoft Security Essentials. If this is the case, you can not install Windows Defender. MSE already has an element antispyware anyway. So what antivirus/security software you have already installed on the computer? I don't like Windows Defender on XP machines in any case.
