Windows easy transfer to a new computer with two flash drives

I've updated a computer windows vista to windows 7 and I used easy transfer to transfer files and the user account. I had to use two flash drives to save files due to the lack of space on the disks. now, my problem is that when I run easy transfer on the new installation of windows 7 only allows me to transfer what is on the first hard drive, but when I put the second disc and try to run easy transfer. He tells me that I need to insurt a disk and click Retry or continue. so, how can I get the rest of the files that are located on the second disc transferred?

Hello

Welcome to the Microsoft community. I apologize for the delay in response. I will certainly help you with the problem you are experiencing. I would like to ask you the following question:

  • What all the options that you see when you connect the second USB drive?

  • You are able to view options such as the DVD, USB, network drive etc. ?

This problem may occur when you are not using the right settings. For more information, see the links below.

  • Updated Windows and transfer to the new computer with a new installation

Hi I have an office of aging that I plan on upgrading within 12-15 months. I am currently under W7 and want to upgrade to 8.1. When I finally buy my new material under a BONE, me will be possible to transfer 8.1 overall with a full installation and not an image copied from my current position?

    Thanks for the tips

To clarify my last sentence: If you buy Windows 8.1 full and use it to upgrade your old machine (Win 7), later when you buy your new computer and install 8.1, you will need to remove the old computer (it can only be activated on a PC at the same time).  So if you were to sell your old computer, legally you have to withdraw Windows 8.1.

How can I see what backups are on the time capsule? My laptop is also saved to the time capsule. Everything is in 'Data' when I look through the Airport utility. Time Machine backup to a sparsebundle.

The sparsebundle will use the share name of computer. So, it should be obvious who is your Macbook and that is your Macpro.

Open the sparsebundle in Finder and keep open the subfolders until you get to the backup of each separate hard drive...

You has of course set the exclusion in Time Machine?

By default, Time Machine will exclude your second drive unless you have included it. Did you?

Once you get to this level during the backup, you can do a full restore manually whenever you want.

  • Restore Windows XP files saved via Windows Easy Transfer on the same computer

After downloading and using Easy Transfer to back up files on an external hard drive (which is where they are now) for the purpose of upgrading Windows XP to Windows 7, I have now decided not to continue because the purchase of a new computer with Windows 7 already loaded is a purchase that I'll soon make and so I'd be disadvantaged I now realize given the short waiting period if I pass with a Windows 7 buy some now.

  • Satellite Pro L300 - how Windows easy transfer on the new HARD drive?

    Hello

I recently got a broken hard drive of a laptop larger than mine.

I would like to put in my computer, but I don't know what would be the way to transfer the partition of installation (or better yet also already installed windows partition).

Will I be able to reinstall linux in a few minutes, but for windows it's something else.
Do you have an idea of the procedure?

The best would be to make a mirror copy, or something like that for me, to have just to extend the size of some partitions.

    Thank you.
    Stone

    Hello

I recommend the creation of an image.
You can create either an image that contains only the content of a partition or the whole HARD disk content.

There are different image on the market tools. For the most part, you will pay for this software.
But you can also use an internal utility for Microsoft Windows 7. Its share of the Win 7 system.

If you are using Windows 7, I recommend this solution.

Here's a nice page of Microsoft on this tool and how to do it:

  • Windows Easy Transfer does not

I got a new computer WIndows 8. I want to transfer my data from my Windows 7 computer. Easy transfer works on windows 7 but not 8. When I pull up on the 8 I have the question Yes or no. Yes constituting the data is already on a drive hard and being that I have not used before. If I click No., it closes. It brings me to another menu as it does on windows 7. I want to transfer data via wifi.

Transfer files and settings with Windows Easy Transfer in Windows 8

Windows easy transfer supports several methods to transfer your files and settings.
You can use Windows easy transfer to transfer information to a computer running Windows 8 computers with one of the following operating systems:
    • Windows 8
    • Windows 7
    • Windows Vista
    • Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) or Service Pack 3 (SP3)
NOTE: Windows Easy Transfer cannot transfer files between a 64-bit version of Windows and a 32-bit version of Windows. Instead, the files must be transferred manually using external storage devices. To find the version of Windows on your computer, see the is the Version on my computer 32-bit or 64-bit Windows
    ? support document.
Step 1: Determine the best method of transfer

When you transfer files between Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 computers, choose a method that works on both computers. Windows easy transfer supports the following transfer methods:
    • External hard drive or USB flash drive: to use a USB flash drive, you need a USB port on each computer. If you use an external hard drive, it must be compatible with both computers.
    • Easy transfer cable: you need a special USB cable designed to work with Windows 8 and Windows Easy Transfer and a USB port on each computer. If you don't have an easy transfer cable, you can order one online or get one at an electronics store. The easy transfer cable is supported on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 computers.
NOTE standard USB cable: A cannot be used to transfer files and settings between computers.

    • Network: both computers must be connected to the same cable or wireless network and both computers must be able to share files and folders.

To decide which method to use, consider the amount of information you will sit. If you are transferring everything from all users on the computer, or all of your user account files, an easy transfer cable, external hard drive or a network works well. If you transfer only a few files or folders, a USB works well.
Step 2: Open Windows Easy Transfer on the new computer in Windows 8.1

All the following steps on the new computer from Windows 8 to open Windows Easy Transfer. You must be logged in using an administrator account.
