Windows goes on the desktop by default?

Start Windows in the start menu (as it should), but aften 5-10 sec it go to the desktop (even if I don't touch anything)

Why is this? I want him to stay in the Startmenu.

It very probably means there is a program based on the Office to open at startup which invites you to spend at the office.  These programs could include 'replacements start menu', 'programs classic shell"or perhaps one not intended to do anything.

I press Ctrl-Shift-Escape, then use the tab to start on this window to disable all programs that run at startup and test it.

  • I installed windows 7 and the desktop icons and bar tasks are enormous

    Original title: Windows 7

I installed windows 7 and the desktop icons and bar tasks are enormous, go to Web pages, I have to use the scrollbar at the bottom of page to see the other half of the page - he said could also be a driver problem, but don't know what I'm looking for - someone can help?

    Hello

Yes, well part of the problem from the point of view of Dell is the only "acceptable" operating system for the Office of series 4600 XP. So they have no drivers 'official' for any function of Windows 7!

But first I need more information on the video card. Try this (on the Dell site): 4600 system is supplied either with the built-in car video or a dedicated real card video.  You should know that you got.  Right-click of your mouse on the desktop, click on Properties in the next area, you see.  This will bring you into the display properties.  Now click on settings at the top right of this next area, click Next on the advance .  Now, click on the adapter on the top.  Just below the upper on this last box, you will see your listed video adapter.

You will need this information, regardless of where you get help. My best recommendation is that you go to the community of Dell and after a question here. Someone may have already found one, but there is nothing official since the operating system is not officially supported.

I'm sorry, there is nothing more I can do.

    Kind regards

  • Is it possible to reinstall Windows XP on the desktop of our family by using the i386 folder in my laptop XP installation?

Hewlett-Packard Windows XP edition my family family computer from office worked very erratic recently and the resettlement of old CD provided by the reseller of the computer do not work because we have improved the system video card, motherboard and power supply. In addition, the system runs very slowly, the resolution suddenly returned to a low resolution (we cannot set to a higher resolution, regardless of how hard we try), and the sound on the PC does not work correctly. I should add that we have the copy of Windows is legitimate and has been installed by the computer gurus in a store of the local computer. I don't know how they have reinstalled Windows, but we do not have functional installation for Windows discs.

I'm no computer expert, but it's my suspiction that malware detected by Microsoft Security Essentials on the computer during a full crawl may have done havoc on computer files and corrupt drivers and other essential records and files before being detected and deleted by the anti-virus software this last.

While I looked on the World Wide Web for a solution to our problem, I found a few sites that said that Windows can be reinstalled utiilizing from the i386 on the computer record. I looked for the folder on the desktop of my family, but nothing helped. Several records with that name, but I couldn't find the winnt.32 files in these folders. Just out of curiosity, I searched the i386 folder on my netbook Windows 7 Home Premium and found, but it seems to relate to my previous installation of Windows XP. My question is, it is possible to reinstall Windows XP on our bureau a copy of the i386 on my netbook, if we have the Windows XP product key that came with our office?

P.S. If the latter does not work, is it possible to borrow a disc to install Windows XP Home Edition to a friend / relative if we have the product key for Windows XP Edition family?

    Hello

You have a product key for Windows XP Home edition retail?

If you have a product key for Windows XP Home edition retail, you can borrow the installation of Windows XP Home edition disk, install and then try to activate it.

If you have the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) product key, you can contact the PC manufacturer for a specific recovery for the system disk.

    Hope the helps of information.

    Hi SteveRock!

These kinds of problems face you usually caused by Spyware or Malware infection. First try to check for malware on the computer. How to get rid of spyware please visit this link:

    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/vistasecurity/thread/ba80504b-61f1-4D71-960f-b561798b7b42

After the audit of spyware, if still problem persist. Try o create a new user account and check if the file is corrupted in the new user account or not.

Use another user account to determine if the problem is related to your account user, use a different user account to test Internet Explorer. If you do not already have another account on the computer, follow these steps to create a new account:

    1. Click Start and then click Control Panel .
    2. In the search box, type user accounts .
    3. In the Details pane, double-click user accounts , and then click Manage another account .
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click continue .
    4. On the page choose the account you want to change , click on create a new account .
    5. Follow the steps in the wizard to create a new account. For troubleshooting, we recommend that you grant administrative credentials for the new account.

After you create the new account, log off the computer. Then, use the new account to connect. If the problem does not occur when you use the new account, you can migrate data and settings from the old account to the new account.

If still problem exists, feel free to come back.

  • Windows 7 - all the desktop shortcuts have disappeared

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (Build 7100 evaluation version)

I was using my computer tonight (normal use, nothing happens out of the unusual, without errors or problems etc.). I shut down the system to go for dinner but later when I got to use again, I started it and connected but were none of my icons on my desktop. I got about 26 icons, 4 included shortcuts 'system' to the computer, the user files, network, trash.

When click with the right button on the desktop, the option is there to add a shortcut, navigation and selecting a file results in nothing, no shortcut is visible. When I go to my desktop to users home directory, in the following location: "C:\Users\loggedonusername\Desktop" most of the shortcuts is visible here (including those above, I added that resulted in anything on the desktop) and I can add more within this directory, but they also do not appear. The 'system' ones (computer, user files, network, trash) still show as checked in the menu of desktop customization, unchecking, reticking, change theme and other options does nothing to restore them on my desk.
Icons/shortcuts on the start menu are fine (visible and functional) - just nothing I try seems to show those on my desk. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS - I did a full system scan with the AV, nothing, even with malware/spyware scanners software. I also did a scan with Windows SFC - audit was 100%, no violation error / integrity.

Most likely a minor bug with the CR. After execution of the RC for several months I am now facing two minor problems myself with the Explorer shell... (1) the window 'Opens' is enabled preview pane and no matter what I do, it is not off and (2) I had to rebuild my library because they had all kinds of mix upward on the folders they were supposed to point to (my library of music made for my photos, pictures sharp documents downloads pointed to a nonexistent drive, etc.). The good news? The RC is just the RC and is only temporary :-) Jonathan Matthis aka "7test" on MSN QnA

  • Lack of Snipping tool in the interface user of Windows 8 (NOT THE DESKTOP), but in any Windows Apps Store

Is there any tool to capture in the user of Windows 8 interface?
The only way I figured out was to use the PRINT SCREEN

If none of these tools, it is a very big lack not being able to take just one part of a screen in the user of Windows 8 interface

    Windows 8 Pro (MSDN)

I know where it is that I use daily and very often.  It does everything not in the user of Windows 8 interface
On the desktop, there is no problem with him, but as soon as you go into the user interface of Windows 8 it is a similar tool when we are in the interface user of Windows 8 (Windows Store apps) so there's no way to use it?

    Hello

Workaround for this would be to create a screenshot in the App Store, load the screenshot in Paint and and crop the image of what you want.

There is a new keyboard shortcut in Windows 8 to create screenshots.

    1. press Windows + PRTSCN key. This will create a screenshot and automatically put my Pictures\Screenshots in your folder.

    2. open the screenshot in Paint and use the Select + tools to harvest.

You would use neither Extendscript allows instant access to the office of the current user through the predefined folder class member:

    Alert (Folder.desktop);

Folder.Desktop is a fully functional pointer in a regular folder, as seen with

    Alert (Folder.desktop.getFiles().join("\r"));
