Windows Installer + VSS + Windows problems in Windows 7 SP1 Activation

I used this Windows 7 machine for 5 years now and has recently encountered several problems, which probably are closely linked:

1. Windows installation problem
Can't update programs, although new install if they do need Windows Installer to do. Most but not all Windows not updates install.

2. the problem of volume shadow copy Service

Failed to create system restore points. With VSS errors appear when I try to do. No previous restore point is available.

3. Activation of Windows problem
A pop up keeps appearing every 1 or 2 hours, saying that my computer is not running genuine Windows. Obviously nonsense since this PC was bought during the original Service Pack 1 of Windows 7 and I've never had a problem before.

I searched a lot online to solve all these problems. I tried hundreds of possible solutions, but nothing has worked. I think that it is all caused by the same thing, but I am unable to find it.

Ready to provide more information. Thanks in advance.

(PS: my camera has a pre installed Windows 7 so I own not a Windows DVD, don't want to reinstall the OS, prefer to try to find the cause of the mess)

Do you have same problems if you create a new user account?

What Antivirus utility you installed?

Have you installed a new hardware or software or both since you started these problems?

Could you describe some of the thing things you've tried?

Start by checking your hard disk for errors:

Click Start

Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD

Click on "Run as Administrator"

At the command prompt, type: chkdsk /f /r

When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and will try to correct them.

then

Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any breach of integrity

Restart your system

You can also try to perform a repair upgrade to see if it works. You need to download a copy of the edition of so that your system is under license:

  • Repeated installation of Windows Vista SP1 in Windows Update and fake notification of successful Installation.

I was using Windows Vista Home Basic 32 bit OS in my Dell Inspiron 1501. The operating system is preinstalled and Windows Update updated to SP2. But recently an unknown problem has occurred and my laptop cannot connect to the internet. As no reason was found, experts have advised the reinstallation of Windows Vista. I reinstalled Vista by running the operating system provided by Dell with my laptop DVD. The laptop started to connect to the internet normally.

I started to receive an update to Windows Vista SP1. I installed it. Installation has suddenly didn't have that about five minutes and the computer also has not restarted several times on its own as expected. At the end of the Windows Update notification "Update" successful installation Update history shows also succeed installing SP1. However, I am receiving the same updated daily and installed in exactly in the same way with the same result. After installation, the Windows version does not display Windows Vista Home Basic SP1 but only Windows Vista Home Basic. What should I do?

I had the same problem and it really irritated me. Even when you install SP1, and he says there are successful (takes like 1 sec inst) and you click on updates search is there once again. He said in the story who is has been installed, but is not there, when I tried to install SP2 maually it is said first install SP1, and then I tried to manually install SP1 and it says that I have already. But if you go to start > right click on 'computer' > properties it does not say you have SP1. So here's what I just did and now it worked and SP2 as well.

When you click on the support link that he gave u get the ability to run a thing 'fixit '. That run. And it still didn't work. (read everything in the support page) Then I went on this link and ran the virus Hunter MS. Nothing was found, problem still there. so I ran again the file 'fixit '. (twice he said them that something was fixed.) then I restart my computer and tried to install the SP1 Setup again and it worked perfectly :) then SP2 and it worked as well manually. and he has actally took like an hour to install. maybe try, worked for me. lol, don't know what measures was unnecessary, but it worked. You can download the SP to install it manually, simply google "manually install SP1/2 for vista" or something and download it.
Sorry for the bad grammar/spelling. In a hurry, lol. I hope that you manage!

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community.

If I understand correctly that you have problems with the installation of Windows Vista Service Pack 1.

    Please answer these questions:

    It shows in system properties?

    To open system properties:

    (a) click Start, right click on computer

    (b) click on properties

    (c) see if it shows Windows Vista with service pack 1 on windows edition.

Hope the helps of information. We know if you need help. We will be happy to help you.

  • Update that installs get Windows 10 app Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 SP1 KB3035583 is NOT hidden

    Hello

I have Windows 7 SP1, and because my computer is a netbook (small laptop) with only 2 GB maximum installable RAM, I don't want to upgrade to Windows 10.

Nor do I want to find that I have any nagging application on my computer, which I find I become obliged often to answer, in order to re - hide the app.

I have therefore configured as Windows Update settings:

'Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them '

    I then "Hid" update KB3035583,

and also confirmed that he had been placed in the: dialog "restore hidden Updates.

I haven't used the system restore from the cache to update KB3035583,

Yet it often reappears in the list of the optional updates available for installation,

and then I have to hide it again!

When KB3035583 reappears in the list of the optional updates, it also is more listed in the dialog box "restore hidden Updates", yet the other updates that I've previously hidden, remain in this dialog box.

This problem only seems to affect KB3035583.

    This problem is normal?

    Any correction is likely?

Is there a way to fix this?

I hope to hear from anyone with a solution.

    Kind regards

    Ray333

This problem only seems to affect KB3035583.

Because updates automatically a mask itself as soon as MS Review and install a more recent version. I suggest to use use GWX Panel - ultimate Outsider to remove windows 10 messages.

  • Do I really need to download Windows Vista SP1, if I already have SP2? Problem reports and Solutions says to download.

I ran, "Find new solutions", in the problem reports and Solutions and a new solution was found for Blue error screen and he recommended that I have download Windows Vista SP1. I have SP2, so I need to download the old version too?

    Hi JJ,

I took the lead and it moved to the Performance and maintenance Forum. In response to the original question don't you're useless to download SP1 again since you have installed SP2. However, it would be preferable to follow with PA support to troubleshoot the Stop Code you receive.

  • Windows 7 Ultimate activation problems

I installed Windows 7 Home Premium (OEM one) on my computer and then upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate (also OEM) some time last year. Unfortunately, the main hard drive crashed between yesterday and today, and I have recently reinstalled the two OSs on the new hard drive, as well as the upgrade of the processor and the video card. These are the only changes I did and Windows 7 Home Premium installed and activated fine. Windows 7 Ultimate refuses to activate. Is there a way to fix this or am I stuck with having to buy a new product key?

    -Update-
Called Microsoft Support, and they were able to give me a new phone verification code. Works great, Windows 7 Ultimate active just fine and all is good now.

Yes, the OEM versions will be reaactivate very well as long as you do not change the motherboard.

  • Cannot run Windows 7 SP1 on big HDD (1 TB)

    Hello

I just realized about this very recent which is apparently now closed:

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=275105

I had same problem with a Toshiba 1 TB drive - I lost on that day and tried at least 10 Windows 7 installs with various behaviours/settings/partitions and still the same result. Cannot run Windows Update.

I also tried to install Windows 7 SP1 from a DVD and have failed with a catastrophic mistake. I also tried to reformat the disk, the WIndows repair tool (ha!) update and installation when you're standing on my head while reciting the works of Shakespear.

I gave up in the end and decided to NOT use it as a system disk at all. Instead, I installed Windows 7 on a smaller drive and uses the 1 TB and successfully as a secondary on the same PC drive with a single partition of 1 TB.

I'm likely to have problems - maybe when the player is more complete and if I might be wise to split into 2 or more partitions?

I just bought the drive so I can send it if it's going to be a waste of time.

    Thank you very much.

And what model of Toshiba laptop do you have?

  • Question about a work-around to uninstall Windows 7 SP1 beta

After making the mistake of making a disk cleanup after installing Windows 7 SP1 beta, the files needed to uninstall disappeared.  Everything I read says that now, the only way is to reinstall Windows 7.  Is there any type of bypass without resorting to this?  Just trying to save time, that's all.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

If all is not lost, where is

There is no official support from Microsoft for Win7 SP1 RC. If you encounter a problem that you can't solve yourself, your only recourse will be a repair installation, or possibly a new installation of Windows. Such are the risks of installing any beta software.
