    Try this...

from your windows live client of e-mail:
Right click on the folder you want to synchronize (i.e., Inbox, etc.)
    Click on properties
    Click on "synchronize" tab
Check "in synchronizing this folder, download"
Select 'new messages' instead of 'all messages '.

    Hi Doug MacDonald.

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. What web browser are you using to print Web pages?

If you use Internet explorer, then change the margin settings to the title of the page setup in the file menu and check if that helps.

See the articles below and check if it helps.

  • XP: Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail - Emails have disappeared

My boss had some problems a few months where a piece of his e-mails have been deleted.  Like a year or two of a value.  He had a ton of emails in their Inbox.  Just recently he started having the same e-mail repeatedly.  I decided to download windows live mail and install it on his computer.  It is running XP.

I installed live mail.  He acknowledged the current e-mail account, he is using Outlook Express (POP3).  However, there is only the latest e-mail messages.  So, I went to windows live mail and click on file - import - and I imported Outlook Express 6.  He asked me what files and I clicked on the button that says it all.

He went through the process and declared finished.  It was supposed to put the files in the storage folder.  I check the records of storage and there is nothing in the Inbox sent items folder has its old emails in them.  I looked around, in the other Inbox for the normal email account there and there is nothing more.

I'm going to switch back to outlook express and its Inbox has no emails as well.  I'm like ooohhhh _.  If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it.

I don't know if it compacted emails in outlook express.

    Thanks in advance - James

For now, let's deal with Outlook Express.

Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

Why OE insists on compacting folders when I close it? :
    http://www.insideoe.com/FAQs/why.htm#compact

    Why mail disappears:

    About file Corruption:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/IE/community/columns/filecorruption.mspx

    Recovery methods:

If you use XP/SP2 or SP3, and are fully patched, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.

If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

DBXpress run in extract disc Mode is the best chance to recover messages:
    http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/default.aspx

    And see:
    http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4

A general warning to help avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:
    http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

If letterhead contains images, images must be on the Internet.

  • Windows Live Mail Emails appear when searching...

    Hi guys,.

How to hide my emails in windows live mail appear on searches? They appear when I'm looking for animals in the start menu.

    Brian,

    @Amrita:
Excluding the e-mail messages in the index seems a bit drastic; This means that Brian would not be able to search for messages by sender or date, topic or whatever.

    @Brian:
If you want to find files containing the "foobar", but you are not interested in emails, simply put foobar NOT type: eml in the search box. More tips: Windows Desktop Advanced Query Reference

  • How to recover contacts from Windows live mail email messages from the hard drive.

I was download my messages to e-mail AT and T through Windows live mail (Pop3). My computer has a hardware problem and stopped working.

However, the hard drive is fine and all the data is safe. I now have a new computer. How can I transfer old computer to the new e-mail and messages

Windows live mail in the new computer can actuall import the old e-mail messages and contacts.

Plug the old drive to the new computer.

You may need to show hidden files to see the records of WLMail.

    olddrive:\Users\old Live Mail

Drag and drop messages into an open folder of WLMail.

If you have been given a copy of messages on the AT & T server you have duplicates.

  • How to import my Windows Live Mail email messages in mail for Windows 8?

Before that I have upgraded Vista to Windows 8 I exported my (a few thousand) e-mail messages to save them in a folder.   Now I would like to import to Windows 8 mail.    How do I do that?

I had the same problem, although in my case, I was trying to transfer data to a new computer of Win8 from Win7.  I wanted to just transfer my files, e-mail and contact groups, as I did with previous updates.  According to technology Microsoft Office response that I talked for about an hour, Microsoft does NOT provide a way to import data from Microsoft previous E-mail programs (windows live mail) to any application of Win8, and you can't do that with Outlook.com either.  Basically, Win8 with all tiles or such is not really a basic messaging application yet.  She told me that I have to do is to get a copy of Outlook or windows live mail on the Win8 Office part, then run as a Win7 machine.  This seems to be the best answer, until Win8 is more mature.
