Windows Live Messenger - no display of Avatars

I got Windows Live Messenger for years. Today the avatars of my Contacts appear in the area of vertical Messenger showing my Contacts, but when I click on Contact, the Chat window shows all the avatars, although he has always in the past.

The solution here - http://windowslivehelp.com/solution.aspx?solutionid=28a84173-0ee1-449c-b6a5-71df075bb506 - is of no help.

I thought I would try to uninstall/reinstall, but in "Programs and features", I don't see Windows Live Messenger in the list, although there are several other Windows programs listed.

1. Windows Live Messenger forum link:
http://windowslivehelp.com/forums.aspx?ProductID=2

2. you will not see Windows Live Messenger in programs and features because it is part of the package of Windows live Essentials.
Right click on Windows Live Essentials > click Surdesinstaller > watch the screen > it asks you what program you want to uninstall...

    Original title: desktop display problem

My desktop only Acer Widget & Windows Live Messenger, although my desktop folder contains everything that needs to be rendered outside the basket. There is no problem with the other user account on this computer. How can I fix this problem?

You have already found the problem, perhaps unknowingly.

quote... There is no problem with the other user account on this computer

It is a strong indication that your user account is damaged.

If it is an administrator account that you are having problems with, please set up another admin first.

Make sure that the new admin account works smoothly without the display problem.

Then decide if you keep some of the files for the damaged account.

If you don't care to keep everything, then simply remove the damaged account.

If you don't want certain files etc kept, then use this tutorial...

One of your antivirus programs? You should not have two or more on the computer much
less running. They load the pieces themselves at startup and interfere with each other
which can actually reduce safety. If its best uninstall all but one and run the removal

I just bought a Microsoft Lifecam Cinema, connected with my PC and installed the software 3.6. What I noticed that the quality fo the vedio going well under the lifecam software or to preview audio/vedio setting of the windows live messenger. However, the vedio quality is pretty poor, when I compose a vedio with other people using windows live messenger.

I don't know if this is related to the operating systems or not. My operating system is XP Professional, the other part is windows 7. the version of my windows live messenger is current.

    Any advice?

    Hi IanZ11,

The LifeCam software requires a card video and monitor that can run a resolution of at least 800 x 600 high color. Set the resolution of Windows display on 800 x 600 high color and then test the software.

Try the steps listed in the article below and check if that helps you.

Don't troubleshoot bad or no video or problems to start the LifeCam software

I assume you have Windows Live Messenger, because you have installed the Windows Live Essentials.
    If so, a brief explanation...
Windows Live Essentials includes some programs that can be installed or NOT, must be installed. You can choose whoever you want.

    Now, you have 2 options...

    1. you can disable. He will remain in the system but inactive.

    2. you can purely and simply uninstall it, and it will be out of the system.

    RE: Disable Messenger
Open MSN Messenger > at the top, click on tools > click Options > column to the left, click on Sign In > straight column, uncheck all boxes > click OK done wnhen.

    RE: Uninstall Messenger

Start button > in the search box, type programs and features > press the Enter key. Scroll down to Windows Live Essentials > right click it > click on uninstall...
Follow the guests but be careful to screen > it will ask you what program to uninstall. Select Windows Live Messenger. Follow the prompts.
