Windows Media Player 11 - without audio

Hi all

I'm running WMP 11 on Vista Basic (32 bit) and I have the video but not the audio. If I run the DVD on the same laptop computer using Acer Arcade Deluxe, I have no problem.

What can I do about it?

Thank you.

Hi Kitkat,

  • You have a third-party codec pack installed on your computer?
  • What is the format of the video file?
  • It happens with all the video files?

Step 1

If you have any third-party codecs pack installed, you can try to remove all the third-party codec pack on your computer and reinstall the same to check if it works very well.

Follow the steps below to remove the Codec pack:

a. Click Start.

b. click Control Panel.

c. click on programs and features.

d. check for any codec pack installed on the computer (for example K-Lite Codec Pack).

e. uninstall the Codec pack.

f. restart the computer and verify if you are able to play movies.

g. try to re - download the Codec pack and install it.

Also, let us know if you are able to hear the audio during playback of videos using Windows Media player on your computer

Step 2

You can also try to disable all improvements and check if you can hear audio during playback of the video.

Improvements to todisable:

a. access control panel from

b. nattering

c. Select the playback tab

d. Enter select speakers/headphones

e. click Properties

f. Select enhancements tab

g. disable all improvements

I hope this helps. Let us know the results.

Thank you and best regards,

  • Torrent video plays fine in Windows Media Player, but only audio in Windows Movie Maker?

I downloaded a video torrent on my Windows Vista laptop. When I went to play in Windows Media Player, it works fine. However, when I try to play it on Windows Movie Maker, I can place only the file in the audio section / music, even if it is listed as a .avi file, when I import the file and drag it on the timeline. There is no red X or any sign of a problem with the actual file. When I go to preview, I get only a black screen, as expected when playing audio files. I checked super files supported for Windows Movie Maker, and .avi is supposed to be a supported video format.

I've downloaded xvid on my computer and it is before I even started with torrents. I know that this translates to the game in Windows Media Player.

I tried to download the same different torrents and I get the same problem each time a different torrent site, so I know that's not the real torrent.

I went to tools > Options and unchecked the box I had, which was the AVI decompressor, and the problem persists.

I don't want to convert the video file, unless it is absolutely necessary. If I need to download something, I will do, as long as you point me in the right direction.

I ask this question because I see only problems with the .avi Windows Media Player files, and I want to edit the file to make a music video.

    Any help is appreciated!

It turns out that the only way to solve my problem was to download Windows Movie Maker 2.6. Now, I can actually edit with ease and use the original .avi file without problem. I still don't know why I had so much trouble with the version that came with my laptop, but now it's the only solution that has actually produced results.

  • Windows Media Player cannot play audio files

Hi, I have Toshiba laptop, this is my baby, and all of a sudden I can't play sounds! When I click to play a song in windows media player, it says:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with the audio device. It might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it can be used by another program, or it may not work properly.

I tried everything and I'm on my last nerve! Basically, I'm rubbish with computers, I do not understand this at all, I followed all the ways suggested by the section 'aid' in my computer and I can't always listen to 'The Feeling!' Please help, I'm going crazy here!

Yes my friend. The computer world is really not easy to understand, and sometimes I wish that I could no longer live the island of computer.
but you know, the development never stop.

OK, now your problem; have you checked the Device Manager?
You don't see any yellow exclamation next to the sound card?

I think that you should first try reinstalling the audio driver. Of course, it s a very tips but especially it works essentially ;)

  • Why my windows media player stops the audio output from my headset in the middle of a song?

I listen to music through a Bluetooth wireless headset. However, in the middle of songs the audio stops. Windows media player is still playing and audio output continues for 10 to 30 seconds later.

also, it stops at the end of the songs and takes a few seconds with the new song to restart again.

    Hello

    Method 1.
Try using a different bluetooth or use bluetooth even on another computer and check.

    Method 2.
Play the sog directly on your computer and check the output.

    Method 3.
If the same bluetooth works fine on another computer try to update the drivers bluetooth on your computer and check.

    I hope this helps.

  • Windows Media Player run only audio for all formats

When you try to play any video in Windows Media Player (WMP), all that is shown is a square picture frame and audio playback. The video never plays. Sorts with MP4, MPG, MOV and other formats. All have the same behavior. Tried to uninstall and reinstall the component of Windows Media Player, but it did not help. An image of the player showing what he does is attached. Any help/suggestions are appreciated!

Shot in the dark guess would be if you have not reinstalled your graphics drivers since the upgrade/return that could represent an attempt.

  • Speakers play in Windows, but not in Windows Media Player or other audio programs

My system is a Dell Studio XPS 9100, Win 7 Pro 64 bit desktop.

I had four speakers + sub connected for years and suddenly the rear speakers won't play any sounds other than in the test of Control Panel / configuration mode. In other words, when I go to the Panel and test the speakers, all right. But when I try to play any kind of audio file (.mp3, .wav or a CD) in WMP or VLC media player, I have no sound from the rear speakers.

It's maddening because they were fine until yesterday. Exchange where they are plugged into the native card is moot because everything works when I'm in the Panel and test (so it is not a connection problem).

    Any ideas?

Solved. It was a DD Realtek Audio Manager setting. (I would like to delete this post if this option was available.)

  • Windows Media Player-how add audio files to the existing selection

Editing of existing playlist in Player 12 - great pain

In previous versions of media player, I could drag a song to a windows explore Panel directly in a playlist. so adding media was a nod to a playlist. Now, you must open it in the game Panel, add media, and you MUST CREATE a NEW NAME FOR THE list of READING which is ABSURD! In other words you can not change the playlist, click SAVE, and the playlist that you work is registered. You should always create a NEW name. What I do is add a '1' to the old name, create the NEW name, and then I have to go back and remove the old list. Once again. It is ridiculously heavy. Can Microsoft fix this? Everyone is significant pain is?

Original name? If you change an unregistered playlist, then it doesn't have a name yet. It is quite normal that you must enter a name when you click on save the list for the first time. The next time you save, you will not have to enter a name more (because then it's not playlist not registered).

  • I have just a white screen with complete audio on Windows Media Player.

    Original title: sound, no video

I ordered a series of dog training DVD.  When I went to download the premiera and play via Windows Media Player, I have audio, but the captain was missing, just a screen dance of psychedelic images.  I've screwed around a bit and go get rid of it, but now I just have a white screen with complete audio.

Thinking I need a plug in I released on bail and downloaded the same clip on my laptop. Same thing, only it started with a white screen.  I doubt that this is a problem with the link, but he has seen it happen on 2 different puters a wonder.  I am running Vista on my desk, I think it is XP on the laptop.

    Help?

    Hi Dave,.

I suggest you to follow the steps from the link and check if it helps.

The screen may appear black or green during playback when the Windows Media Player control is embedded in a Web page
