Windows media player won't recognize DVD
My media player can read and play a CD from the CD but when I insert a DVD, nothing happens. Furthermore, I recently installed a software AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 to burn DVDs and would like to know if this new software is the cause of the problem. When I insert a DVD, the AnyDVD does not analyse it and Windows Media Player will not play it (or he acknowledges in the DVD player). And when I try to clone using CloneDVD2, the dialog box says "unable to read video files" and "the device is not ready." I had reviewed the literature on the decoders and drivers, but it ' s all Greek to me. " My PC has apparently already the software necessary to perform these tasks (ie. drvers and decoders), I checked for these programs > please help.

Windows media player won't recognize dvd playback or record
My Media Player will not play it plays the cd and burn cd dvd if I try windows Director, acknowledges that the dvd drive is there but it will not record or play videos
The reader has already worked? If it used to work OK but suddenly failed, then there's a chance (the DVD part of) the drive has failed. You could try a CD/DVD cleaner lens to see if that helps.
It may be interesting to try this fixit MS - http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/ and run the built-in utility to see if they find and fix anything.
I guess that its listed as 'work' and showing no problem in the device (on the Panel) Manager?, but its worth checking.
It may also be useful to check on the support site for the PC see if there are updates made support for the PC and player. These can sometimes help.

Windows Vista operated computer that has worked well so far, now Winsows Media Player does not recognize my burner. Tried to do the upadting for my burner,

Hello
You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
correctly.Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.
Brand of the CD or DVD drive can also be the problem. Low quality (cheap brands) are always problematic.
CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.Several good info here:

Windows Media Player doesn't recognize DVD
Windows Media Player will recognize is more DVD - it opens with a black screen and then stops. However, it will play CDs and videos from internet and attached to e-mail. It will also burn videos to DVD. All the drivers are up to date. What is the solution?
Hi tomkucharski,
-What version of Windows Media Player is installed on your computer?
-What software changes you did on the computer before the show?
-The problem occurs with every DVD or a specific DVD?
Follow these steps:
Method 1:
Run automated troubleshooting who diagnose and fix problems with your CD or DVD drive when trying to read or burn media automatically.
See your CD or DVD drive cannot read or write media
Method 2:
You should maybe download and install plug-ins for Windows Media Player (WMP).
See the Plug-ins for Windows Media Player.

Windows Media Center won't play DVD
Windows Media Center won't play DVD. This program has played these exact DVD in September. These DVDs can be played on other devices. Error message indicates that there is a problem with the decoder, but don't tell me the code of error message. I searched other forums, but it is impossible to find an answer to this problem, except the recommendation of a codec - although I don't know how I "lost" the codec in the month. Microsoft Security Essentials have installed and up to date, if it is not a virus. Have problems in other programs with the recognition of previously readable files. Not sure if it's related, so I'll post in separate... forums but I'll give you a link if you want to. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Hello cowgurlup55,
In addition to the response of Santosh, please relay if the problem occurs when you play a DVD or a single. Please also relay if the same problem occurs when you try to play the DVD with Windows Media Player.
In addition, if you have an extra DVD decoder installed, then try to update the DVD decoding software.
For more information about MPEG - 2 DVD decoders, please visit the link below:

In addition, you can also view the thread below with a similar problem:
I hope this information is useful.

Windows Media Player does not recognize the new downloaded songs
I have a Pavilion a4310f Prod Nr: race AY014AA-ABA, Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
I just found out that Windows Media Player does not recognize the songs, I recently downloaded from Wal-Mart music download Site. The songs can be seen in the music library in a folder called 'Downloads' and I can open each song and he will play when double-clicked. The problem is that I can't create a playlist containing the new songs and burn a copy of the reading list, because the songs are not listed in the Media Library Player any hot it is sorted (artist, Album, Genre, etc.).
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
MitchProblem solved!
Went to: start == > Control Panel == > troubleshooting == > view all == > and ran troubleshooting on the library and the settings of WMP.
Convenience store detected library corrupt and "in media files appear in the WMP library. Then ran convenience store on WMP settings which reset OMP to default settings. After that, everything worked as announced.
Thanks to Big_Dave for putting me on the right track.
