Windows to the Apple system

are the CC of Lightroom and Photoshop CC compatible with Apple hardware and software, or should I buy new versions for Apple?

Yes, new versions are required, however they are included in your subscription, CC up and you don't need to purchase a new subscription. Simply install and connect on CC required. I have the CC applications running on a Mac and on Windows as a cloned backup. You are allowed to use the CC apps on two machines simultaneously.

    Hello

Is it possible to resize the XP System Configuration Utility window to make it possible to see the whole of the entry for 'Command' and 'place '.  What I see now is the «...» "at each end of the entry.  Thank you.

No, you can not resize the msconfig window, you can resize each column by positioning the mouse on the lines in the column heading until you get an arrow with two points and then clicking and dragging.

You can also use the system information utility (start > run > msinfo32 > OK).  Click on the + next to the 'software environment' to expand the category then click on "startup programs".  The window can be resized, or you can 'select all' and 'Print' the list of startup items or creates a file of the startup items (seehttp://www.winxptutor.com/msinfo32.htm .  (Sometimes, msinfo32 shows too many files.  (Seehttp://windowsxp.mvps.org/msinfofix.htm ).

Or get Autoruns http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx (the tab "Connection" of Autoruns is equivalent to the "Startup" in msconfig tab)

  • Laptop will not reinstall windows after the factory system recovery

So I have a laptop HP which is relatively new. I recently acquired the Virus 2010 Vista AntiVirus Pro. When the malware and spyware could not fix the problem, I decided to do a system restore, which would put the computer to the way it was when I bought it. I backed up the files and do the system recovery. He filled the recovery then said it will re-start to reinstall windows and complete the process.

After the restart as it gets and error that says: "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error." Windows Setup cannot continue. To install Windows, click "ok" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. »

The only option is to click on 'ok', but after clicking it he is trying to reboot once again and the same error comes back. We tried to manually close the laptop and restart, but we always get the same error. I can get the start menu when the information system and the recovery is but to the past is just the mistake. Any suggestions on how to fix it? I don't know what else to do.

The quick fix for this is to export the following key using RegEdit:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer
    Save it as:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-Software-Microsoft-Windows-CurrentVersion-Installer.reg
Then load the RegFile in Notepad and do a replace operation:
    Search: C? \
    Replace by: C:\

    Search: C:\?
    Replace by: C:\
    Then save the RegFile as:

  • What is the secret for the Apple passwords?

I'm really getting upset with Apple confused password security protocols.  It lasts for years and I need to know the terminology and protocols for different Apple applications.  After be locked and need to reset, I learn only that there are different protocols for:

    • iCloud
    • Apple TV
    • This forum
    • iTunes
    • Forum iPad
    • Maybe others

    Apparently, there are different terms:

    • Apple ID
    • Username
    • Password
    • iCloud security code
    • Maybe others

I wrote various combinations of my email, username, PW, cryptogram, Apple ID and perhaps other safety information.  They are not the same for different Apple products.  If I do the incorrect entries for a small number of tests, I get locked and am forced to reset the terms.  Then, I use the new conditions for a different product or a utility and get locked again.

Can someone direct me to a site that lists the 1. Apple product/utility (AppleTV, iTunes, forums, etc.) and 2. the term used for safety (PW/user/email/ID Apple/etc name) and which combination of these elements is acceptable?

Also, continuing my rants, it would be good if the Connect dialog box would be easier to use and warn the user of the number of trials authorized and an indication of the correct answer as "usually your email" or "case sensitive" or "L * 02".»  I can't believe that robots or hackers are so sophisticated that it can crack most of the indicators that provide other sites.

There are a few things that have changed a few years ago:

    • Frequently asked questions on the audit in two steps for Apple ID - Apple Support

You can choose to limit the number of AppleIDs to an AppleID; If you have two.

They can be combined; I have only one. Don't see a need right now to learn more.

be changed; Apple support has articles and if you happen to have a new product

their best help is free, if you can ask a question that relates to the newest one.

Sometimes an older password will have been too easy for someone to guess or something.

An automated system that can run through dozens of probable combinations a second, one

kind of like a phone dialer automated, but more sophisticated, can possibly guess a lot.

If it's a good idea to change your passwords to connect & use juxtapositions of letter/number.

A little over a year ago, when I bought a new Apple product and asked

use only he, my password was deemed not safe; changing it & then found

my name associated with features I had no intent to use, (he signed me up to iCloud, etc.)

I had to change the password again to a more complex than the previous. And for some

reason, the Apple system he treated as a completely new AppleID. If the account is not affected.

There is a little financial investment by some detective for private information and

of them are not supposed to do this according to the rules of law. Others have paralegal rights

to think that they can do, and then there are these adware scams where people give up everything

their passwords and access computer or peripheral rather than learn how to remove the pop up windows.

Because there are several angles, simple things involve practices secure to avoid user

the bad guys to get an advantage. And avoid giving too many different pieces of the

puzzle online because they can be easily locked to new car computers to do.

    (Avoid calling a phone number in a pop-up message to scam on the computer, for example;

the scam of cale-hostage initially is easily ignored by force – enough of the browser; then launch

the browser with extensions disabled; "or with physically cut internet access).

Anyway, I'm not sure that I answered no questions, but the links above explain the most recent

security aspects in the relationship between devices and Macs; and the sharing of information between

them is also an area where caution is required. Avoid sell or give a device

  • The sound system preference and Callnote

I installed Callnote to record Skype sessions, but I found that it was interfering with the audio system so I uninstalled using AppCleaner. However, I have always had a rest of Callnote in the input and output peripheral windows from the Sound System Preferences: How can I get rid of him?

Also (in the spirit of BOGOF - buy one get one free), it's annoying that my startup to open Safari, it starts but does not show a window - I always click on the Safari icon in the Dock. This started to happen with Yosemite, I think; until a window appears automatically. I presume that it does not show because "Hide Safari" is an inalterable permanent choice in the Safari drop-down menu, but why is this so when no other application has this selected permanently?

Don't know about the first part, but for Safari, try going to system preferences/general and uncheck the narrow windows when you exit an application.

  • Re: How to install Windows on the new Satellite Pro C50 8.1?

I just bought a TOSHIBA SATELLITE PRO C50, that came with Windows 7 pre-installed.

When you start the system for the first time, I simply close and put Windows 8.1 media into the optical drive (disc 1 of 4) then entered the Recovery Wizard and may have chosen the wrong option, because I completely erase the hard drive and partitions.

Now that I did it, I can't find how to install the Windows Media Pro 4 DVD provided 8.1. I can't find the correct option to do this. I changed the startup option in the control panel by pressing F2 at startup, so it reads from the DVD player. The DVD starts but then takes me into a recovery area of the system, which is not good as I wiped the system completely.

How can I just now to install the Pro 8.1 provided Windows on the clean system right now?

    Thanks for any advice.

First, I would like to know what model of laptop you have exactly. If possible, please report the entire model number (C50-xxxxx). I just want to check the specification for this model of laptop.

Did you buy this laptop as any new product and model in box?

Anyway, if you have installation discs original recovery for this, you should be able to install it without problems. Start your laptop and press F12 to get into the boot menu. This menu wil shown on the screen, insert disc 1 into the optical disk drive, choose the CD/DVD drive from the menu, and then press ENTER.

ODD must start reading Wizard disk / recovery will be shown o the screen. Choose the option to install out-of-box / factory settings and just follow menu on the screen.

Can you post the error message you get when you try to install or launch iTunes?

For general advice, see troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps described in the second case are a guide to remove everything related to iTunes and then rebuild what is often a good starting point, unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and other support documents list to the bottom of the page, in case one of them applies.

The more information box has direct links with the current and recent if you have problems to download, must revert to an older version or want to try the version of iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) as a workaround for problems with installation or operation, or compatibility with third-party software.

Things you can do to solve the slow Downs

If your computer seems to run slower, here are some things you can do:

Start in Safe Mode , and then repair your hard disk and permissions:

Fix the hard disk and permissions before Lion

Boot from your OS X install disk. After the installer loads, choose your language and click on the button continue. When the menu bar appears select utility drive in the Utilities menu. After that the charges of THE select your entry from hard drive (mfgr. ID and car size) in the list on the left.  In the status area, you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is faulty or has failed. (State SMART is not reported on external drives Firewire or USB). If the drive is "verified", then select your OS X volume in the list on the left (subentries under the entry for the road), click the first aid tab, then click the repair disk button. If THE reports any errors that have been corrected, and then run repair disk again until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, click repair permissions. Wait until the operation is complete, then exit FROM and return to the installer.

Repair the hard drive - Lion-Lion/mountain/Mavericks

    HD recovery start:

Restart the computer and after the buzzer, press on and hold down the COMMAND and R until it appears the screen of Menu utilities. Otherwise, restart the computer and after the buzzer, press on and hold down the OPTION key until the Boot Manager screen. Select recovery HD disk icon and click on the button below.

When the recovery menu appears, select disk utility. After that the charges of THE select your entry from hard drive (mfgr. If THE reports any errors that have been corrected, and then run repair disk again until no errors are reported. If no error is not reported, then click repair permissions. Wait until the operation is complete, then exit FROM and return to the main menu. Select restart from the Apple menu.

Restart your computer normally and see if it helped at all. Then do little maintenance:

For disk utility can't handle situations, the best third party is Disk Warriorutility;  Fixed DW only for problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by the corruption of directory; Warrior drive 4.x is now compatible with Intel Mac.

Note: Alsoft ships DW on a bootable DVD that will boot Mac running Snow Leopard or earlier. He cannot start Mac that came with Lion or later preinstalled, however, DW will work on these models.

    Suggestions for OS X maintenance

OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are supposed to take place on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. Maintenance scripts that are run at the beginning AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep). If this isn't the case, then a great solution is to download and install a shareware like Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacronor Anacron utility that will automate the maintenance regardless of whether activity if the computer is off or asleep.  Dependence on third-party utilities to run periodic maintenance scripts has been significantly reduced since Tiger.  These utilities have little or no functionality with Snow Leopard or later version, and must not be installed.

OS X automatically defrags files smaller than 20 MB in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files it little need to defragment the hard drive.

Under no circumstances should you install operating MacPaw or ZeoBit software (CleanMyMac/CleanMyDrive or Mac Keeper, respectively.) You don't need special software to keep your computer.

The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.

Difficulty a few pop ups browser that supported Safari

Common pop - ups include a message saying that the Government has taken over your computer and you pay release (often called "Moneypak"), or a false message saying that your computer has been infected and you need to call a number of tech support (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it to be resolved. First of all, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and that your computer has not been assigned. This "hack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so don't pay not money, call number, or provide personal information. This article will give an overview of the solution to remove the pop-up window.

    Quit Safari

Usually, these pop-ups will not go by clicking 'OK' or 'Cancel '. In addition, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in grey, including the option to leave Safari. You'll probably force quit Safari. To do this, press command + option + ESC, select Safari, press on force quit.

    Relaunch Safari

If you restart Safari, the page will reopen. To avoid this, hold the "Shift" key when opening Safari. This will prevent windows since the last time that Safari was running since the reopening.

It will not work in all cases. The SHIFT key must be maintained at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window is displayed again. In these circumstances, after force quit Safari, turn off Wi - Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then restart Safari normally. He'll try to reload the malicious Web page, but without a connection, it will not be able to. Leave this page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com and try to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet and the page that you entered is displayed rather than the malicious.

If you need antivirus protection Thomas Reed recommends to use ClamXAV. (Thanks to Thomas Reed to this recommendation.)

The user Joe Bailey comes this equally useful advice:

    The facts are:

    1. There is no anti-malware software can detect 100% of malware out there.

    2. There is no anti-malware that can detect all targeting the Mac.

    3. the best way to prevent breaches the most is for you as the user is aware that

the most successful malware attacks rely on sophisticated social engineering

techniques preying on human greed, * and fear.

4 Internet pop-up windows telling the FBI, NSA, Microsoft, your ISP has detected malware on

your computer is designed to trick you into installing their malware thinking it's a

    protection against malware.

    5. some of the anti-malware market products are worse than malware

go where they are supposed to protect you.

    6. be careful where you go on the internet.

    7. don't download anything from sites, you know are safe.

8 avoid links that you receive in email, always be wary, even if you get something

you think a friend is, but that you did not expect.

    9. If there is any question in your mind, then assume that it is malware.

    Troubleshooting Applications

I recommend that you download a utility such as TinkerTool System, OnyX, Mavericks Cache Cleaneror hiding a Cocktail that you can use to delete the former newspapers and archives, cleaning, etc. Corrupted cache, logs or temporary files can slow down the application or OS X crashes and panics of the kernel.

If you have leopard snow or leopard, then for similar repairs install Applejackfreeware utility.  If you do not start in OS X, you can boot into single-user mode , where you can run Applejack to make a set of routines for repair and maintenance of the command line.  Note that it takes 1.5 AppleJack for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard. Applejack does not work with Lion and later versions.

    Basic backup

For some people, Time Machine will be more than enough. Time Machine is part of Mac OS X. There are two components:

    1. a panel of Time Machine preferences as part of the system of preferences;

    2. a request for Time Machine, located in the Applications folder. It's

used to manage backups and restore backups. Time Machine

requires a backup drive that is at least twice the capacity of the

    drive being backed up.

You can also get an external drive at least equal to the size hard disk internal and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the disk utility's restore option. You can also create and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (the order is not significant):

    1 Carbon Copy clone

    2. get backup

    3 already seen

    4 superDuper!

    5. Synk Pro

    6. Tri-Backup

Visit The FAQ XLab and read the FAQ on the backup and restore.  Also read How to back up and restore your files. For using Time Machine, visit FAQ Time Machine of Pondini for help with all this time Machine.

Referenced software can be found at MacUpdate .

    Additional tips

Make sure you have a sufficient amount of RAM installed for the number of applications you run simultaneously. Make sure to leave a minimum of 10% of the capacity of the hard disk as free space.

Add more RAM. If your computer less than 2 GB of RAM and you use OS X Leopard or later, then you can do it with more RAM. Snow Leopard and Lion works much better with 4 GB of RAM that is their system. Most concurrent applications, that you tend to use the more RAM you should have.

Always have at least 15 GB, or 10% of the capacity of your hard disk as free space, the largest. OS X frequently accesses your hard disk, so offering enough free space will keep things slow down.

Check for applications that may be hogging the CPU:

    Before Mavericks

Open the activity monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select all processes in the drop process .  Click the % CPU column heading twice to display in descending order.  If find you a process that uses a large amount of time processor (> = 70,) then select the process, and then click the quit icon in the toolbar.  Click the force quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Don't forget to mention the name of the runaway process, so you can find the cause of the problem.

    Mavericks and later versions

Open the activity monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select all processes in the menu display .  Click the CPU tab in the toolbar.

This problem occurs often because of a corrupted cache or the preferences file or an attempt to write in a corrupted log file.

Once again, everything seemed to go smoothly, installation, etc. until it got to the point when he said "Marketing Services".  Then, as before - everything stopped and jumped up to the exact same APS Daemon.exe - error box system (with the same message) referencing MSVCR80.dll once again, saying that it is missing and try to reinstall the program.  From now on, I don't know exactly what that means (I know, I know) or if it's something someone like I could fix (or even try), or if I should just run down to my local computer store?   Never had any problems with the Apple or Windows updates before this one.

Thank you to everyone how wants take a few minutes and help a person who has started working on computers far too late in life!
    Sincerely, mark Hawk
