  • Windows update error code 80070005 when checking for updates

I was getting updated with no problems on a clean install of Windows 7 Pro x 86.  After I installed MS Office 2007 Pro and other software.  I clicked on search for updates and I get the red box error "windows can not find the new updates" error found Code 80070005 I am logged in as a user with Admin Access.  I disabled Norton AntiVirus...    When I click view update history, it is empty, even though I've updated several times.

    Hi Willaton,

The 80070005 error means usually you do not have permission appropriate to run the update.

You could disable your anti-virue and malware/spyware protection temporarily to see if they are in conflict with the update installation program.

If this does not work, I suggest you log in to the account administrators integrated and update from there. To connect to the administrator account

    1. Click Start, right click on computer, then click on manage.

    2. expand local users and groups, and then click the users folder.

    3. right click on the connection of the administrator, and then click Properties, then remove that checking the account is disabled.

You can now restart the computer and log on to the administrator account and try the update again.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Windows could not search for new updates - error Code 80070005, please can someone help?

I get the message above for about 6 months, really since I tried to install updates including IE9, it went to the wall. It seems that the history of all my previous updates have the problem dissappeared also.

I searched in different forums and tried several solutions but no evail, but some people do not seem to have been lucky enough to rectify the issue even if I do not deliver hope immediately.

I am running Vista Home Premium on a Dell Inspiron 1720, but I don't have any software recovery to help me as far as I know that I'm running as the administrator should therefore not be permissions issues, but please also no matter what advice would be welcome.

If everything fails to buy Vista or a version?

    Thank you for any assistance.

  • Monitor HP updates fail with the error code 80070005

I get a message that not load my updates of the screen.  This has been a problem going on since

the purchase of this pc and installation of the monitor.

In addition, I can't run my Bernina on Vista software.  Do I need to buy special software to do this?

    Hello Sharon sews,

The error that you are experiencing with your monitor is an update of the HP driver for the monitor. It is not a Microsoft Update.
See the post on the HP support forum: follow the cutting edge of technology and should help with your problem.
    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/monitors-and-video/update-error-code-80070005/m-p/11754

Regarding the issue with your Bernina problem, it is probably not compatible with Windows Vista.
    You can try the following:

If the program is not compatible, then you try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.

    Use the following steps:

    (1) right click on the program

    2) click Properties

    3) click on the Compatibility tab

    (4) select run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows Vista or other operating system, the program has been run successfully.

You can also try to do a right-click on the setup.exe or .msi file and choose "run as administrator.

    I hope this helps.

    Sincerely,
