Wise schema exp/imp or complete database exp/imp better in cross platform database 10g migration

Hello

When you perform a migration of database platform (big-endian to little endian) of 10 grams, which should be preferred to a database export import full or can do without schema using exp/imp?

The data base is about 3 TB and a server Oracle ebs with many diagrams custom in it.

Your suggestions are welcome.

For EBS. export/import of individual schemas is not supported, because of the dependence between the different schemes of EBS - only complete export/import are supported.

What are the exact versions of EBS and database?

If you want to import only a single schema, then use the parameter:

    SCHEMAS =.

Remap_schema does not limit the imported objects, renamed it simply diagrams.

  • SQLFire support separate schemas or the names of database like Derby?

    Nice day

I am currently evaluating porting application of my company on SQLFire.  We have already supported for Apache Derby, so I hope that's not too big a job.  Normally, we have deployed a number of tables at least three different Derby 'databases' (basically separate directories on the disc).

SQLFire supports this type of separation of data?  He takes supported the schema names other than "APP" (default to Derby).  If so, what would be the JDBC connection properties? Finally, SQLFire has an option to auto-create of Derby ' create: true "sign in URL property?

    Thanks in advance,

    Guy

    Hi Guy

    > SQLFire does not support this type of separation of the data?

Yes, you can use separate schemas as in Derby. A CREATE SCHEMA can be used to create a schema explicitly, or just create a fully qualified table name e.g. EMP. Table1 implicitly creates the schema.

To persist data in different directories, use several data stores in SQLFire and associate them with different tables. See CREATE DISKSTORE and CREATE TABLE in the reference section and user guide for more details.

    > Support the the schema names other than "APP" (default to Derby).  If so, what would be the JDBC connection properties?

If you need to use objects (tables, functions, views, etc.) DB in a schema, use qualified names complete as above. To set the default schema for a connection (i.e. used when qualified names are not used) use the statement "SET CURRENT SCHEMA . By default, SQLFire sets the name of the default schema user name as in Derby and for unauthenticated sessions the default user name is APP you mention.

    > Finally, SQLFire has an option to auto-create of Derby ' create: true ' property sign in URL?

SQLFire does not have a concept of different databases as such. A distributed SQLFire system is a unique database (and therefore a database so we can say). Therefore there is no need to explicitly create a database. So when a SQLFire server is started and joined a distributed system, then it is ready to be able to create tables etc. client or embedded connections.

  • No schema found. Please initialize database

I'll put up a new server Vcenter. I'm at the part of the installation database connection.

I connect to a MS SQL database and I have a successful connection, but it indicates "schema found. Please initialize database'

I don't know where to go now. Any suggestions?

Also note that when I started the installation of the vcenter, I chose MS SQL express instead of using a regular sql instance on a real SQL Server. Should I uninstall/reinstall and choose an instance of sql?

    Thank you!

To install vCenter on a custom database, you will need to create a DSN and then use while insalling.

Open "ODBC datasource Chief" from "Administrative Tools".

Create the DSN to use the database you created for vCenter.

Start the installation of vCenter and select the option to use a custom installer database.

Select the DSN that you created and complete the installation.

Before you perform these steps, you uninstall the existing VC that is installed on the express edition. Make sure you remove the DSN before beginning the new installation.

    Also, please see http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r40/vsp_40_esx_vc_installation_guide.pdf

    I hope this helps.

  • MBRC and SYSTEM STATISTICS in Oracle database 10g.

    Hi all

I am performing the upgrade of Oracle 8i Solaris database to Oracle 10 g HP - UX using the exp/IMP.

But I have some doubts about the MBRC and system statistics.

MBRC in Oracle 10 g is adjusted automatically if MBRC parameter is not defined, but I found the value 128 as shown below.
    SQL> select * from v$version;

    BANNER
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
    PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    CORE    10.2.0.4.0      Production
TNS for HPUX: Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production

    SQL> sho parameter multi

    NAME                                 TYPE                             VALUE
    ------------------------------------ -------------------------------- ------------------------------
    db_file_multiblock_read_count        integer                          128
Also, I made a simple full table scan to test... but read scattered file db performs on 128 blocks. So I don't think that 128 and is automatic, I mean MBRC is not defined in consequence he always uses 128.

The MBRC value affects the performance of the whole base?

About SYSTEM STATISTICS, I found below result:
    SQL> select * from AUX_STATS$
    SNAME                          PNAME                               PVAL1 PVAL2
    ------------------------------ ------------------------------ ---------- --------------------------------------------------
    SYSSTATS_INFO                  STATUS                                    COMPLETED
    SYSSTATS_INFO                  DSTART                                    11-09-2009 04:59
    SYSSTATS_INFO                  DSTOP                                     11-09-2009 04:59
    SYSSTATS_INFO                  FLAGS                                   1
    SYSSTATS_MAIN                  CPUSPEEDNW                     128.239557
    SYSSTATS_MAIN                  IOSEEKTIM                              10
    SYSSTATS_MAIN                  IOTFRSPEED                           4096
    SYSSTATS_MAIN                  SREADTIM
    SYSSTATS_MAIN                  MREADTIM
    SYSSTATS_MAIN                  CPUSPEED
    SYSSTATS_MAIN                  MBRC
    SYSSTATS_MAIN                  MAXTHR
    SYSSTATS_MAIN                  SLAVETHR
Now if it is better NOWORKLOAD or workload, and this server is still in the process of building... so how can I accumulate the workload statistics, as it is not possible to make a high load on this server? Is he really need to collect system statistics, what will happen with stats NOWORLOAD?

I saw no single database where system stats are gathered in our organization with more than 2000 databases.

  • Apex Migration - Version 3.2 to 4.1 + Migration of database 10g to11g

    Hi all

I'm looking for the APEX 4.1 upgrade guide step by step from 3.2 to 4.1.
I found the installation guide (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23903_01/doc/doc.41/e21673/toc.htm), but is it the same as doing a new installation.

Also I'm migration since the version of database 10g to 11g. On the 10 g Apex 3.2.I I was wondering if I could simply do a full full and export datapump import and skip the configuration step 3.2 in the new 11 g database.

I know it's lazy DBA approach, but I'm still curious. I know there are many storage spaces that need to exist before the import, but besides that, is there something special in the tablespaces of apex (ie the flow...) which are not lost or preserved damaged during a work of import/export.

    Sincerely

    Jan S.

    Jan:

I guess you can try to install the 3.2 in your 11g database (if not already there, 3.2.1 comes by default in 11 GR 2, unless you unchecked the option of standard components) and then only import lines of the APEX_030200 of the Forum Express Application in the diagram of APEX_030200 on the new 11 g database. You must also export/import all schemas associated with existing work spaces of the old Application Express instance. This method is not supported but can work.

Yes - pl see the Upgrade Guide - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e23633/toc.htm

You can skip the part of the doc where it plans to install 11 GR 2, since you already have installed binary files.

Thanks for your reply, but there are 2 zip files as seen in the Oracle database software download link | Oracle Technology Network | Oracle

When each file is unzipped, there is a directory of databases each. I agree that there is only 1 setup.exe. So the directory structure might be like below to extract zip files:

    (1) the parent directory say as a record Oracle12c at level 0, I mean as the root.

    (2) the parent directory would have 2 directories named winx64_12c_database_1of2 & winx64_12c_database_2of2, created by the decompression of each zip file respectively.

I hope that my request is clear.

    Concerning

    LOn

Unfortunately, new Windows raises its ugly head and bites those who cannot see past the pretty buttons they click.

Go back and re-read what sanae posted on "extract to".

When you click a "compressed folder" (zip file) and select "Extract", windows DEFAULT behavior is to extract in a (uncompressed) file the same name as the zip file.  You need to work around this behavior and provide a folder name yourself.  I suggest that simply call you "winx64_12c_database".  Provide this same name of folder when decompressing files 1of2 ("to pull") both 2of2.  Then you will have a unique folder named "winx64 - 12 c" and slot than a single subfolder named "database".

When you "check out" the second file and specify the directory target existing now, windows are going to be asked if you are sure.  Say Yes.

    Thank you
    Engr.M.K Chowdhury

    Hello

To be convinced, you can do the following:

    alter database begin backup;

Then, you check the backup status of your datafilles with the following query:

    select file#, status
    from v$backup
    order by file#;

If the status is ACTIVE, this means that the data files are in backup mode, and you can copy them.

The redologs online, you can save them but this is not mandatory, because you have logs archived.

It is important to get all archived logs generated during (and after) the backup.

To do this, you can run the following right after the hot data files backup:

    alter system archive log current;

It will generate a log archived that you need to include in your backup.

If you lose all your data (including the redologs online), after you restore the data files, you need to retrieve
the database. During this operation, you apply all archived logs and then you reset the redologs. It is a
    incomplete recovery.

However, for the online redo logs, it is important to multiplex to another disk. So, if you lose members on
a single disk, you can perform a full restore with their copy on the second disc.

    Hope this helps.
    Best regards
    Jean Valentine
