X230T: Slow scrolling afterwards on Windows 8

Hello!

I have a X230T running Windows 8 and works very well with it.

I'm facing a problem with the help of Windows 8, the scrolling speed after that drag (f. e. in Internet Explorer or start menu) is quite slow. For example: you have loaded a web page in IE 10, which a lot of text and you scroll down using a simple touch - page begins to scroll, but soon the movement is out of accelerated and scrolling movement stops very quickly with a small space saving.

How configure, or calibrate this behavior?

Any ideas?

Thank you!

I fixed this myself.

I found out there is a registry setting that controls the inertia of the tactile movement. Back in Windows 7, there was a user interface (a page in the pen/Touch settings) that allows you to set this value. Obviously, this one is absent from Windows 8, I wonder why, since there is no alternative, and this parameter is very important for a Tablet operating system.

The key is:

The 'Friction' under [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wisp\Touch] param. You can assign numerical values of 0-64. 64 means high friction, 0 means very low friction. Of course, I chose 0 to scroll after slipping very quickly. I needed a reboot to make this apparent. Don't forget there are a few copies of this structure in registry under [HKEY_USERS], you must set them also (execpt for the very unlikely case that some user wants to slow down the touch scrolling).

I'm puzzled why Microsoft does not offer a configuration of this very important setting.

  • Scroll smoothly makes very slow scrolling

Since the version 15 (I think), the functionality of scrolling smoothly in Firefox makes very slow scrolling. Before that it was a much faster way. With the scroll wheel makes it easy to just go up or down a page, it is smooth, but terribly slow. With smooth scrolling turned off, it is all back to normal speed (as in Windows Explorer, but also in Internet explore when scrolling is quite normal speed). Downside with people with disabilities, of course it's all more jerky now.
All the drivers are up to date. Everything where I scrolling is not serious, the normal speed. Only Firefox is way to slow down with scrolling when Smooth Scrolling is enabled.

Is it possible to change the speed of scrolling with active smooth scrolling?

Well, did some experiments and found a setting in everything: config that makes Smooth Scrolling fast and smooth: look in: config for mousewheel.min_line_scroll_amount. By default, which has a value of 5. I changed only in 50 and now smooth scrolling looks and feels like before.

OK, I have seen a lot of questions about it, anywhere on the web and no good response from someone at Microsoft or at least an acceptance that somewhere along the line, someone out there screwed up where perma-slow USB transfer for Windows 7 users.

Yes, my drivers are up to date. My USB transfers are spend only 6 MB/s MAX I tried all ports. FireWire transfer is fine. eSata too.

Clean your PC boot, then test transfer USB (voltage ICH? I don't think)

  • Slow Internet connection on Windows 7

I have Windows 7 Home installed in my HP laptop. Web brosing speed is too slow on the PC. I have a fiber optic internet connection which has max of 16 Mbps download speed. The internet speed is good and reaches sometimes up to 10 Mbit/s, while it barely reaches 2 Mbit/s in normal mode. Most of the programs I uninstalled, run the registry cleaner by Norton, Scanner Malware bytes, regularly updated Norton antivirus definitions. I also installed only a few program - MS Office 2010, Norton Antivirus, Real Networks, itunes and HP provided software preinstalled with the laptop. Internet activity is limited to a few Bank sites and youtube. Like all the anti virus scan, spyware scans were not able to detect any virus or spyware, I'm at a loss to find any reason for the slow internet speeds. The speed of the internet is amazing when I use my tab Thosibha or on my smart phone Sony. Any ideas please.

I have this noted in may 2013 and unfortunately do not have the restore point beyond June 2013.

    Hey fatty,.

Thanks for posting your question on the Forums of community of Microsoft.

    1. At he start normally before? If YES, you did important equipment or modifications to the software on the computer before this problem?
    2. The second problem is specific to a particular program?
    3. What is the serial number and model your computer?

The question my occur for various reasons, including some drive corruption, outdated BIOS version or damaged file system. Then I suggest that you try the following steps of diagnostics to verify if you are able to reach the office in one of the following modes methodical.

    Method 1:

I suggest to run a Startup Repair to repair the damaged boot system files and try to start normally. See the section: How to use Startup Repair in the following link.

    Startup Repair: frequently asked questions

If this does not help, try to boot from a disc to install Windows 7 on the Windows recovery environment mode and then try to run the Startup Repair tool and check if you are able to start normally.

If the problem persists, proceed to the next method.

    Method 2

Step 1: Try to start your system in a State of services necessary to the operation and a minimum set of drivers enabled, called Safe Mode.
Start your computer in safe mode

Step 2: If the system works fine in safe mode, try to clean boot the system to exclude the possibility of a software conflict.
How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Note: See "how to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to prepare the computer to start as usual after a repair.

Please check the second issue in safe mode and clean boot, as mentioned above. If the problem persists, try to update the display adapter driver, as described below.

    1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click System and Security, and then, under System, click the Managerof peripheral . If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  • Working with windows 8 or 8.1 and 5.3 view Horizon using the VMware customer 2.3.3) slow scrolling and hesitate

I was wondering if it's something big or something right in the House.  When the wired or without wireless on Windows 8 and 8.1 (laptops / tablets), using the client to view Horizon 2.3.3 I get hesitation to scroll in Outlook 2010 and Excel more large spreadsheets, that I don't see on my Windows 7 machines using the same client.  Anyone else noticed this or fix?

I know it's a bit old, but found the fix for our windows users tablet 8.1.   On the client itself, we have removed the cache of the client completely do the following steps:

Create a new file as below.

  • Firefox very slow, slow and unresponsive on Windows 8.1

Basically, everything is very slow and each action takes a long time to complete - tabs, switching takes about half a second to a full second (5 seconds if there is another tab currently loading / refreshing), by clicking the Center button of the mouse takes more time, about half a second to a second for the exactly scrolling of arrows is displayed same thing with regularly by clicking on the scroll on the right, Firefox bar pretty much freezes for about a full second before reacting to the click.

I tried to run Firefox with addons disabled, which did not help, which I did not know that he don't would be not since this problem started before I even had the addons - pretty good the second, I installed Firefox.
I have Firefox running on an SSD card and a new installation of Windows 8.1. I tried the two Aurora and nightly (currently using every night), both are just as slow.

I have not tried to reset, because once again, the question was already there during my first installation of Firefox.

Figured out what the problem is - it is a software of DisplayFusion I use to support multiple monitors which is causing the problem. I'll just get an alternative until (if ever) the question ceases to exist.

    Thanks for the help.

  • Slow scrolling from the bottom!

Hello, whenever I scroll to the bottom of the page in IE, or simply in the files, it is extremely slow. the same thing happens when I look at the video or something else. This has happened since I reinstalled WINDOWS XP from scratch. What could be the problem? A driver problem?

    Thank you

    Hi Jonathan

If the OS is now reinstalled from recovery CD, I would like to know how you installed the OS earlier. In my view, it cannot be driver issue, as there are on the recovery CD of appropriate drivers for all hardware components.

It is very possible that there are some active background process and it may be the reason why the slow CPU performance.

  • Very slow scrolling with Images

    I'm under Framemaker 11 on a Windows 7, 64-bit machine with an i7 processor with 2 + ghz 8.0 MB of RAM.

My frame files, with images referenced/imported, are scrolling very slowly. When I say slow, I mean that the page scrolls in see it freezes for 10 to 20 seconds ahead of "catch-up" and the display of the page.

I have an image of 'background' on my master pages that contains simple graphics for some curbs to delineate areas of the page and the header at the top. These environments is imported. Any Thjese files are approximately 1.1 MB.

My remaining images are imported by the various pages of reference body. They are files .ai and 2.5 to 5 (ish) MB in size.

I was searching for an answer. My deadline will pass my by while I wait for pages to load. Help, please!

The. EPS and. Files HAVE of that time were near the same format as the EPS and used the preview images of low resolution (for precisely this purpose of not having to make the full graph for the work on screen).

The current. Files I use a PDF format who think FM is a true PDF and try to make (she does an internal conversion in EPS and creates a preview frame high resolution all on the fly, he's doing extra work). Directly import current. HAVE the files is not recommended because you can lose features and content because it is not a true PDF format. Create EPS files from the. The files and try to use those instead.

  • control keyboard to scroll through the window of the observer?

I use the current version of mail.app (9.3) in OS X 10.11.5 (El Capitan).

I would like to be able to do basic operations of reading email with the keyboard controls.    There are keyboard shortcuts to create new messages, reply to or delete messages, move up/down in the list of messages in the message list pane, etc.   That's great.   But for most common task of simply read messages, support for the default is keyboard commands.

In previous versions of Mail.app, I could use the arrow keys to move through the message list window and I couldn't use the previous page and next page controls (up arrow fn and fn-Basel on macbook pro keyboard) to scroll the message up and down view pane.   It was also possible to scroll up/down in message window using the space space and shift.   The page-up/page-down and SPACEBAR space/shift conform to the General conventions of Mac, including Safari.

In El Capitan, it seems that this feature has been removed.  Instead, previous page and next page just cause scroll through the message list window.   Space does nothing.   A work around of all kinds is to hit the tab to move the keyboard focus in the list of messages display message, followed by commands to scroll, and then either hit tab twice or press shift + tab (but no space or shift-space) to focus back to the list of messages again.    It is not practical for an operation that I easily hundreds of times every day.

Anyone has any ideas it is possible to restore the former function?   Hacks like hidden messaging preferences settings?    ... or a way to use the Resource Editor utility (what is the sort of thing even exist anymore?) to modify the application?

Was it a former function that I have just forgotten or abandoned by Apple?   Or was it a bug or an oversight that it was omitted in the new version?     Doesn't have Apple deemed incompatible with the new directives of the interface?   This feature replaced some other keyboard shortcut that I don't know everything?    Y at - it a 3rd party plugin or something that I can use?   Any ideas would be appreciated.

Space bar always works for me.

Opt + arrow up / Dn also works.

I don't know which would not interfere with these things. Perhaps a third-party app, but I don't know what.

Have you connected outbound/inbound or restarted?

  • How can I solve very slow scrolling with the mouse when you press the command key? (MacBook Pro, Lion, no problem when using trackpad, no problem with other web browsers, other mice have the same problem)

Scrolling speed is fine, but when you press the command key and then it becomes very slow.

He does it with a mouse, but not with the trackpad.
It does when the modules are disabled.
No problem on Safari or Chrome.
    No problem on PC.

I think it all started when I went form a MacBook with Snow Leopard on a MacBook Pro with Lion.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!
