  Since November 2008, on my Vista Windows Update has failed. He detects that there are updates available, but when I give the command to download, it tries and then say he failed. This is the case even when I tried to install the new Windows Live Messenger.

  I tried all the troubleshooting that Windows had to offer, and now I'm failed. I would appreciate your help. It gives me the error code 80240016 and says that windows update currently install other updates. But I do not see other updates being installed!

  I've recently noticed that I had problems installing anything new from microsoft.  Last week, I tried to download internet explorer 8, but he repeated that the link was broken.  Then I tried to download other things on the microsoft Web site, and I got the same message.  Now, the update of windows tried to install service pack 1 and it is said, could not be updated with 80240016 error code - saying it currently installs other updates.  I think the problem is that the computer can't download anything from microsoft, any help on this would be appreciated.

  Since you have not found the option run as administrator of the normal mode, I would say that you follow step in the link in safe mode. To correct these goal, also try and create a new admin account and see if you can run the program as administrator of the normal mode.

  How to start in safe MODE

  1. Restart your computer if it is running.
  2. Press the F8 key after your computer powers initially.
  3. Once you see the menu Advanced Startup Options , you can stop tapping.
  4. Up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.
  5. Select Safe Mode with network and press enter.
  6. You should see loading drivers and then Please wait.
  7. You should then be on the Welcome screen.

  Connect to your computer using an account with administrator privileges.
