10.11.4 OSX update itunes library is broken

After the last update of El Capitan, iTunes can not find more my library. It is located on an external hard drive, it is still there but it seems that the file format changed in the latest version of itunes so that it can not find the library more. Anyone has the same problem, and there is no work around?

Open iTunes preferences and make sure the path to the location of media is correct. Quit iTunes and re - open while pressing the option key. Choose the location of the file library on the external hard drive.

  • (Corrupt) 12.3 without updating iTunes library

Today when I opened my iTunes library it saids me that iTunes library was damaged and about 2500 titles and almost all of my missing playlist (it seems that iTunes uses a previous library of mine, like 6 months ago or not). I tried with the last iTunes Library.itl file in the 'previous iTunes library' folder, but given that I haven't had an update, I found the file most recent was December last year (and I have downloaded more than 1000 songs and made a lot of new reading list since then). I also tried to import the iTunes Music Library.xml into my iTunes but it told me that a few pieces of "iTunes" Music Library.xml had not be imported because they cannot be found.

Thanks in advance for your help and sorry for my bad English

See the empty/corrupted after upgrade/crash iTunes library. Is there the .tmp files in the iTunes folder? You have a Time Machine backup? It is quite easy to import new songs. It may be possible to recover playlists if they have been synchronized to a device.

  • Update iTunes library of Snow Leopard in El Capitan

    Hello everyone

I have a new iMac running El Capitan (iTunes 12.3) that I want to update an iTunes library from my old Mac that took place from Snow leopard. (Not sure this number of old iTunes because the old Mac crashed) I copied the old iTunes from a backup folder to the new Mac. Here's what its structure looks like:

However, when I point the new iTunes on this record, he is not recognized and implemented to date so I have everything in my new iTunes. I could import all the media from the iTunes Music folder, but then I do not have my playlists.

What is the right path to access the old library on the new Mac?

    Thanks for the help!

    Hello

Create a new folder in the Finder window and call it Itunes1

Drag all of the files and folders inside except for Album work.

Launch iTunes by pressing ⌥ alt, and then select the iTunes1 library

    It should work

After (sigh, unconsciously and unintentionally) update my Itunes 12.4.1.6 Macbook Pro, my Ipod Classic is as it does not recognize the Itunes Macbook is the parent library. I made a few additions to the Macbook Itunes playlists, but my Ipod sync... at least do not unintentionally erase all currents (gulp, 157 GB of data) and re-import the entire library again. Is there a way to get around this? I did have this problem - at least I don't remember having it-advance updates to Itunes, where the Ipod no longer recognizes the Itunes Macbook as his home library. I ran a "check disk" on the Macbook and Ipod, and they are both clean, no sign of corruption. FWIW, I use the laptop on Mavericks, OSX 10.9.5.

    Hello Subocz E M.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support. I see that you had problems adding pieces and turn off Genius. I know how it is important to be able to add music to iTunes. I'm happy to help you.

Since you are being invited to turn off Genius, you can add music, please use the following information to resolve these two issues:

Turn on or off the Genius

If iCloud music library is enabled, you cannot disable Genius.

Choose file > library > Genius (toggle Genius).

Turning off the Genius Genius Genius Shuffle shuts and and the Genius Mix.

12 iTunes for Mac: use Shuffle Genius, Genius or Genius Mix playlists

Where all the playlists gone and why didn't appear my entire music library? I checked the preferences and iTunes points to the correct folder, BUT only my music purchased appears...

Same thing happened to me. I tried to replace iTunesLibrary.itl with an older copy, but that has not worked. Then I tried to return a version by resetting the Time Machine's iTunes app, but it would allow me to edit or delete iTunes because it is part of Mac OS X.

So, I can not sync my iPad or iPhone, update all apps or find my music, that is, the course of the odf, still on my hard drive. ITunes just can't see the library.

My apps no longer appear in my Itunes library (since the last update, March 2016)

It's on iTunes from your computer? Do you still have the apps on this computer, but not in the iTunes library (file > add to library if you have)? If not, then add them to the back of your backup of your library of downloads / (file > add to library), or them (assuming they are still in the store and you have not reached the country) download via the purchase link under quick links on the right side of the homepage of iTunes music store - or if your iPad is still on iOS 8 as your slogan says you can copy the back of your iPad via file > devices > transfer purchases

    Hello

This seems to be a new issue facing users of iTunes while trying to update to the latest version of iTunes on Windows 7. I checked in the Apple support sites and found that uninstalling iTunes and then put it back in place, by running the installer with administrator privileges has solved the problem for many users with similar problems.

You can see the responses made by user turingtest2 in the following threads of the Apple Support forums, the steps are correctly described here:

    https://discussions.Apple.com/message/24609674#24609674

    https://discussions.Apple.com/message/24616175#24616175

The steps which have been voted as useful for these discussions include:

First, uninstall each of these programs from your computer:

    • iTunes
    • Apple Software Update
    • Apple Mobile Device Support
    • Hello
    • Apple Application Support

Then, Download and save the installer for iTunes by clicking on this link: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

And finally, reinstall iTunes by running the installer registered with elevated permissions. Here's how you can do this:

    1. Right click on the installer downloaded.
    2. Click run as administrator.
    3. Click Yes or continue when Windows ask you for your consent.

This should help you solve this problem. If you are still not able to get the iTunes program works correctly, you can also post your request in the iTunes of Apple Support Forums. Here is the link for forums:

Let us know how it goes. We will be pleased to be of further assistance. Thank you and have a nice day!

  • How can you dowgrade from iTunes to iTunes 12.1 12.3 while keeping the same update by iTunes library 12.3?

iTunes 12.3 is not correctly synced the Notes field in Microsoft Office Outlook Contacts (but it's sync correctly the addresses and phone numbers). Apple support told me that iTunes 12.1 was the last version supporting a correct sync and sent me a link with iTunes 12.1. When installing iTunes 12.1, it woul does not open because the library containing the media, appsm and info was generated, over time, by iTunes 12.3. Thus, version 12.1 has been installed, but not working. The library, seems, is not backward compatible.

Someone has an idea? Thank you very much!

  • Why don't the addition of metadata to be added manually in the iTunes library song change metadata in Windows Explorer and anywhere else?

Adding metadata to a song in the iTunes library has no effect anywhere else (as in Windows Explorer or the Groove music).

I would like to know if I have disabled this in error or if it is not guaranteed to all visitors.

Where it is not provided to customers, I would like to know how iTunes stores this metadata and whether it can be automatically sent to the library of Windows.

    Thank you.

A reason of changes committed to iTunes cannot be is covered in the tip of the user, fix the iTunes for Windows security permissions but iTunes usually returns to the original data if you probably don't see this particular problem. The other possibility is of several tags.

    Several tags (Mp3 files only)

The ID3 specification allows files to have several tags in different versions and languages, but iTunes does not work properly with simple tags. When multiple tags are present it can sometimes do not apply updates to the tag that reads back (probably update one of the others in the file) and it is also possible that the iPod and iTunes may have different rules for the tag that they give priority to. This could lead to situations where everything is properly organized in iTunes, but then inexplicably collapses on an iPod, or tracks that display different information in Windows Explorer or another media player. There are tags 3rd party editors that allow to manipulate several tags, but I don't have a casual recommendation. A workaround in iTunes is to use the context menu convert the ID3 Tags... > None a few times to remove all the labels, then convert ID3 Tags... > v2.3 to build a cool tag with information still held in the iTunes database. I've read in the past that iTunes is not completely compatible with the specification v2.4, although this may be the case, support is more however for v2.3 is widespread, then I would say using v2.3 to v2.4. All embedded work will be deleted so it must be replaced if wanted. For Windows users running a script named CreateFolderArt before and after the cleaning process tag should handle this.

Note that some data, for example the sides and the counties of game, is only stored in the database internal iTunes and not surrounded by tags.
