10.2 after 11i oracle Home > upgrade 12

We did an upgrade from 11.5.9 to 12.0.6 on TEST. We did the DB Upgrade separately (IE - not as part of the installation). So we have the original home of 10.2 oracle 11i, as well as the 10.2 oracle which was supplied with installation. That is the question:

(1) is question that Oracle Home is used (assuming that both are at the same level of the Group of hotfixes? Will be the future implications if the House of 10.2 oracle 11i is used?

(2) if we use the 11i 10.2 Oracle Home, how we move to another Oracle Home (one that provided installation 12 version)-is this part of the performance of the appsutil.zip? Please bear with me on these issues - it's been a few months since we did it, and we're just review everything again in detail.

Thank you all.

Hi Colin,

1st quarter) that installation file system provided (as indicated in point 2 above) - essentially is nothing - that is to say - it's a duplication?

That's what I understand from your first post.

Q2) under the "Oracle Applications Upgrade Guide: version 11i to 12.0.4 version"-Page 3-2, Oracle said «we strongly recommend that you use the version 12.0.4 Oracle Home provided by Install quick...» "- I guess that's the part that has me a little confused, or I need a second opinion on. My assumption is that we are OK here in what we were doing - that is, using the 10.2.0.4 for Oracle 11i.

Yes, that's OK, since the two ORACLE_HOMEs are the same as on the Group of hotfixes, so there is nothing to fear, as mentioned in my previous answer.

Kind regards
Hussein

You already have the answer :)

Why only 806 why not 9i.

  • Expected .dbf files copied from old house Oracle Oracle home again after an upgrade out of place?

    Hello

I recently performed an upgrade out of place of Oracle 11.2.0.2 at 11.2.0.4 by following the checklist to upgrade Oracle (Doc ID 1276368.1).  While doing an RMAN backup, I noticed he was doing market back files .dbf since the old Oracle 11.2.0.2 rather than the new Oracle 11.2.0.4 Directory directory.  The .dbf files that are being backed up are not in the new Oracle 11.2.0.4 directory.  Must the .dbf files be copied to the Oracle of old House to the new House Oracle after an upgrade?

    Thank you in advance.

In the checklist Upgrade Oracle (Doc ID 1276368.1), I could see not all the instructions to copy all the old Oracle Directory .dbf files to the new.  I was wondering if that is by design (.dbf files remain in the old Oracle Directory and somehow referenced in the new Oracle Directory) and what happens when I do a restore RMAN.

If you start working & only installed database 11.2.0.2 a new copy of the Oracle of 11.2.204, then of course there no data files in the new directory.

Most people have NOT stored in/under ORACLE_HOME Oracle data files.

There is no need to have the Oracle datafiles reside under the new Oracle 11.2.0.4 directory

  • Removal of the old Oracle Home after an upgrade

    Gurus,
What is the preferred method to remove the old Oracle Home Server software after an upgrade of the DB. For example:
I had three 10.2.0.4 databases, which are then passed to the 11.2.0.4. Is it enough to remove the Oracle 10.2 home using the controls of the operating system, or is it better to run the Oracle Universal Installer to remove the Oracle 10.2 House?

The verbal and demo explanation does not use the original location/Oracle HOme of the previously
installed for the binary PFRD base.   It probably should.

In addition, for some steps to follow to patch binaries PFRD, I'd put it:

Step 4.  I am guessing that the patch will establish an another sub dir Disk1 and don't want to overwright
installation of the initial PFRD, therefore, moves the Group of hotfixes as follows.

    CD/opt/web/install/PortalUpgradeAdvisor/pfrd
    960 ls - ltr
    Group of hotfixes mkdir 961
    Group patches 962 mv p11060983_111140_LINUX.zip

    and
An Oracle home directory: as_2 # I bet it must be as_1 because that is where the initial PFRD install binary files has occurred.

NOTE: The summary of the Installation in the video screen escape the Oracle Home is the previous specified during the initial installation. That is to say. PFRD_Binaries.   I guess I should have named that instead of taking the default as_1. At least I would have to have done that.  Well.  Maybe this story might help the next guy.

    Also

NOTE: The Installation screen is not "from" group of patches as in the video where it says
Install Oracle Portal, forms, reports, and discover the Group of hotfixes.

    Hi Charlie
I'm a little confused by this feedback. Especially when you say that you see the option "install - do not configure. Should this option is visible only when you run the Basic 11.1.1.2 PFRD the software installer. The Group of hotfixes 11.1.1.4 has his own 'runInstaller'... and this will display what you see in the viewlet. You definitely run the installer from the directory of stage in the Group of hotfixes? (I'll do my own validation test - if I find something strange going on... I'll report.)

I now take the following action

    1. I will put the Viewlet so it is clear that the Group of hotfixes is staged in a different place from the base 11.1.1.2 media
    2. provide that nothing must be running (because at this point, no instance of 11 g of construction has been configured)
    3. There's a "slippage" that illustrates the Middleware and Oracle Home entries in the screen "Location of Installation to specify" IE

    Middleware homepage: / u01/alca_portal/middleware
    Oracle home: PFRD_Binaries

However, you will see that this slide for 2 seconds (which is an error) and if you miss it probably.

Just FYI - the House of Oracle 11 g correction is in general the same procedure as patching a mid-layer House AS10g i.e

-You set the Oracle Home base using the installation of the basic software program
-You patch the Oracle home using the installation program of the Group of hotfixes

the installer give me 3 choices:

-create and configure a new database

To create the oracle new house I just set the path to install in a different folder, is it not?

    • Install the BPM (including SOA)

Most of the other errors seems to be associated with em, specifically the em.oracle.home. When to check the AdminServer.out at the start of the AdminServer environment variable seems also not to be defined.

    The installer is basically;

    • read the weblogic (wls.jar) model, set some basic as etc domain name options and write the field.
    • read the field and add the model bpm (oracle.bpm_template_12.1.3.jar)
    • Set up the domain
      • setOption ('AppDir', domain_app_home);
      • create a machine
      • create a cluster of soa and add the soa server to the cluster

When validating deployments in the WLC the em.ear aims the AdminServer, but is failing. Targets of the MA has an em, the default (webapp) component and the empty.jar.

For the benefit of third parties, the problem has caused a bad addition to the EXTRA_JAVA_PROPERTIES.

A setUserOverrides.sh in the "/ bin" that contains the following statements.

    [code]

    EXTRA_JAVA_PROPERTIES = ""-Djava .net .preferIPv4Stack = true ' "

The setUseOverrides.sh is run after the setSOADomainEnv.sh and therefore replaces the settings.
