12 23 (NAT and vmware-netcfg) Fedora workstation

Hello

I used the library swaps previously mentioned for this race on F23, but there are still a few issues that I have no idea how to solve.

1 NAT in my guests

5: vmnet8: BROADCAST, MULTICAST, upward, LOWER_UP > mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel State UNKNOWN of group by default qlen 1000

link/ether 00:50:56:c0:00:08 brd ff: ff: ff: ff: ff: ff

INET 192.168.162.1/24 brd 192.168.162.255 scope global vmnet8

valid_lft never preferred_lft forever

inet6 fe80::250:56ff:fec0:8 / 64 scope link

valid_lft never preferred_lft forever

You can see that my OS a 192.168.162.1/24 for the NAT adapter IP address (such as/etc/vmware/networking)

My guests get IP addresses in the range of 192.168.138.0/24 well!  I can ping and reach all through very good IP somehow, even if - DNS does not work - packet capture, see the requests arriving on the interface correct vmnet8, but nowhere to go.  There is a number of perplexity.

2. I can't start vmware-netcfg

I changed the default theme to work around the error of the gtkrc theme, but it always fails to start (from the GUI or the command line), I can't see if the settings have moved or changed somehow WS11-> WS12

Keep in mind all of it worked as it should with WS12 on F22

Thank you

Greg

For vmware-netcfg, you can use the EPS workaround:

(1) edit/usr/bin/vmware-netcfg

(2) add the first to the top of the scipt:

(I added this line just below ROOT_REQUIRED = yes)

Export VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_LIBS = force

  • NAT with VMWare Workstation 9-Urgent problems

    Hello

Try to use NAT in VMware Workstation 9 and am lost in my VM connection.

But when I use the network bridge, it works very well.

Is someone can you please help me solve?

I tried reinstalling VMware workstation for all n No.. times and restored the settings of the Virtual Network Editor as well.

    Help, please!

It seems that the client does not receive a DHCP address? Assuming that the virtual network adapter in the virtual machine settings is 'connected' (which, I guess, because you said Bridged works very well), you can check if there is a problem with the installation. Please run services. MSC (or net start from the command line) to see what VMware services are running on the host computer.

  • VMWare Player, NAT and firewall

    Hello

I'm running VMWare Player 7.1.2 with Windows 8.1 as host and Debian Linux as a target.  I want to run the network card in NAT mode for the isolation it provides to Linux.  I have tightened my windows machines and thus, set windows firewall to block all outbound connections except those covered by specific rules.  When I turn this firewall does not block OFF, NAT network works fine, when I turn it on, NAT does not work.  I tried to add each firewall rule, that I can think of, such as the possibility of vmnat, VMnetDHCP and vmware-authd, as a program and a service.  The rules, which I configured include all ports and protocols.  No rule allows traffic NAT of VMWare Player.

    Thoughts?

    OK, I found a solution.

First of all, I would say that I use the Windows Firewall, not McAfee etc.

The crux of the problem is that there are two instances of vmnat.exe on my machine.  The first is in the VMWare Player folder (as I predicted), and the second is in \Windows\SysWOW64.

    * Opening a rule for the program in VMWare Player, for all services, does not work.

Opening of rule for Windows (which is defined as the SysWOW64 version) services, for all programs, does not work.

    * However, the opening of a rule for the program in SysWOW64, for all services, works.

It's weird, because the player is definitely using Windows services, because it if you stop, the machine virtual loose connectivity, but create a firewall rule for the Department is insufficient.  Instead, I have to define a rule based on the programs and point to the exe file that is managed by the service.  No other firewall rule is necessary.

I do not fully understand, but it's the solution to my problem.

  • VMWARE Workstation and VMWARE Player

I have a simple question: what is the difference between VMWARE Workstation and VMWARE Player.

I have 2 PCs at home and have Windows Vista Home Edition and Windows XP Pro, I want to install Windows 98, to play older games.

VMWare has free download, will this work? what I need?

    THX

I used the two products but I prefer VMware products for my virtualization needs, which neither include playing games.

In all sincerity, if you already have Windows 98 SE and the game sitting there, then I was going just to download VMware Player and test it.  You could probably do that more quickly then go through all that.

If the Alien vs Predator game talk you is indicated to Aliens versus Predator (video game) and its system requirements, then I would Imaging VMware Player, that's all you need to give it a go and if you don't like not the performance or you can't find a VMware Player fairly easy to work with then try Microsoft virtualization product.

  • High resolution monitor and VMware Workstation, causing the system to hang

I usually like VMware / WS... I used VMware / WS for many years with problems little / not serious - until recently.

I'm under WS 6.5.1 on MS/Windows/XP/Pro/SP2 (host), and 2 guests of virtual machines: RHEL4 and MS/Windows/XP/PRO.

Recently I bought a SAMSUNG T260 (1920 x 1200) high-resolution screen - I really like (I also used SAMSUNG monitors for many years with little / no serious problems).

Currently, I am frequently (several times a day) see the two VMware / WS (all guests) and my XP any host COMPLETELY FREEZES up.  The only way out of this is perhaps a shutoff of the system and then restart.

Needless to say it is (IMHO) a OFF THE CHARTS SERIOUS PROBLEM... with all fingers pointing to VMware / WS (TBD).

Previously, I was running on a HP low resolution screen 1280 x 1024.  I can run for days/months/still without seeing the problem above.

Also, I believe many/most/all lower resolution monitors is likely no other problems (be it).

This is a 'system to freeze the scenario:

1 pass to MS/Win/XP vm host RHEL (mode full-screen)

    2. press quickly on full screen non-plein screen

    3. If I do the above too fast my entire army system freezes up.

Any body else see something like that?  Any ideas/help/suggestions will be appreciated.

  • NAT and Network Configuration in VM Player 6

    Hello

In version 5, I used to run
    Rundll32.exe VMNetUI_ShowStandalone vmnetui.dll

In version 6, I have no idea! anyone?

I mean, sure, I tried workaround by copying the files vmnetcfg.exe and vmnetcfglib.dll from VMware Workstation 10 in a single system with VMware Player 6 installed, altered VMnets with it otherwise I would have posted what I did!

In addition, I used appropriate utilities to examine the files .exe and .dll sizes in the two VMware Workstation 10 and VMware Player 6 to examine the function calls available in each and found no call necessary (s) in the .exe or .dll to VMware Player 6 files to reproduce what can do the files vmnetcfg.exe and vmnetcfglib.dll from VMware Workstation 10.  Even though I admit that it was a quick review, however I am confident that the way to access a graphical user interface in VMware Player 6 fully functional virtual network Editor is to use the files vmnetcfg.exe and vmnetcfglib.dll from VMware Workstation 10.

I only am not the slightest bit surprised that VMware has completely removed the virtual network Editor GUI in the VMware Player 6 version!

Post edited by: WoodyZ...  Also note that before WS10 only the vmnetcfg.exe file was needed, and I did not test the pre-WS10 vmnetcfg.exe file to see if it can also work in VMware Player 6.  When I had the chance, I'll have to test this.

  • Order of procedure SonicWALL for routing, NAT and policies

I'm confused on the prescription that the sonicwall verifies a package.  The way I heard the order, it will:

    (1) check against the access rules,

    (2) check against NAT Polies

    (3) check the routing.

    Installation program:

Subnet point of VPN endpoint - Internet - SW NSA 2400 (VPN) - sub-network B (from C subnet)

    A subnet is 10.1.100.x/24

Subnet B is consists of three IPs, 192.168.99.4,.50, and 109.

Subnet C is contains the host IPs 192.168.13.4,.50, and 109.

I VPN configured to allow traffic from 10.1.100.x to the hosts on the subnet B, what NAT and the host subnet C.  This method works more large, is not a problem.

I need to reduce access to certain ports.  Once I set access restrictions in the port, the firewall blocks ALL.

When I look at a screenshot of packets when traffic is blocked, I see the following:

    Source 10.1.100.5--> 192.168.99.4 accepted

    Source 10.1.100.5--> 192.168.13.4 refused.

Block of code indicates that it is because of politics.  However the policy review should have been checked and checked already.  If I change the VPN policy to represent both sides of the NAT (ie. 192.168.99.4 and 192.168.13.4) then passes the traffic.

If anyone can explain what is happening?

I tried to look through some KB SonicWall has publicly available articles. But I did not see anything that doesn't seem to help. In this case, I think you might want to give SonicWall support a call.

    https://support.software.Dell.com/manage-service-request

They can help to look over your configurations and see if we have to make changes. They should also be able to answer your technical questions about how the packets are received or managed.

  • IPSec Tunnel between Cisco 2801 and Netscren 50 with NAT and static

    Hello

My problem isn't really the IPSec connection between two devices (it is already done...) But my problem is that I have a mail server on the site of Cisco, who have a static NAT from inside to outside. Due to the static NAT, I do not see the server in the VPN tunnel. I found a document that almost describes the problem:

"Configuration of a router IPSEC Tunnel private-to-private network with NAT and static" (Document ID 14144)

NAT takes place before the encryption verification!

In this document, the solution is 'routing policy' using the loopback interface. But, how can I handle this with the Netscreen firewall. Someone has an idea?

    Thanks for any help

    Best regards

    Heiko

    Hello

Try to change your static NAT with static NAT based policy.

That is to say the static NAT should not be applicable for VPN traffic

    permissible static route map 1

    corresponds to the IP 104

    access-list 104 refuse host ip 10.1.110.10 10.1.0.0 255.255.0.0

access-list 104 allow the host ip 10.1.110.10 all

IP nat inside source static 10.1.110.10 81.222.33.90 map of static route

  • Clarification of authentication PIX NAT and BGP

    Hi all

I did some tests on PIX and crossing this area of BGP traffic.

When I configure the PIX to do no config NAT (NAT 0) and configure a BGP session between two routers (one inside) and the other on the outside net everything works fine.

When I configure BGP authentication, I may add the keyword "norandomseq" NAT and STATIC commands cause BGP auth embedded TCP header for authentication information. It's OK.

But when I reconfigure the PIX to make real NAT between the inside and the outside network and reconfigure my routers, BGP session doesn't happen if BGP authentication has been disabled. If I enable authentication BGP, I had errors of MD5 authentication on routers. (Note "norandomseq" is enabled for NAT and STATIC instructions)

Now my question is BGP unsupported for NAT on PIX sessions? (for my tests, it has worked for NAT 0 config, also all the examples that I always found working with NAT 0 config)

I think the problem is that the TCP pseudo-header changes to the NAT device and therefore it will never work right? Or is there any correction internal bgp which should fix this? I think it's almost impossible that this is known with the password simple bgp, right?

    Concerning

    Michael

Your reasoning is dead the. BGP authentication works like this: the sending peer BGP takes and MD5 hash of the TCP header before sending the package and includes this hash in the TCP header option. The BGP receiver receives the packet and also did a MD5 hash of the TCP header. Then, it compares its value to the value sent by the sender of BGP. If they match, all right. If they fail, the packet is ignored and you get error messages, did you see.

Because the NAT will change the address source TCP, the TCP header will be changed which should bring a different MD5 hash for the receiver that the sender originally sent.

BGP peer by a PIX authtenticatio is supported only in a Nat 0 or static identity with the norandomseq option is enabled.

    Make sense?

  • Issue of ASA NAT and routing

    Hello

I have a question about NAT and routing on the SAA. I'm relatively new to ASA and don't know if it works or not. I have a pool of public IP (209.x.x.x/28) that routes my ISP to the external interface of my ASA. IP was assigned address for the outside of the ASA is an address of 206.x.x.2/24 with a default GW of 206.x.x.1. I intend using NAT to allow my web/mail servers on the DMZ (192.168.x.x) use 209.x.x.x addresses. However, I do know how to make it work since I'm not arping on any interface for 209.x.x.x addresses as they will be sent to the 206.x.x.2 address by the ISP. Can I just set up a translation NAT (on the external interface?) of the 209.x.x.x on 192.168.x.x address and the ASA will figure it out?

    Thanks for the help.

    Todd

The ASa will figure it out, he will answer ARP queries for all that he has set up in a "static" command As long as th PSIA routes 209.x.x.x directly to the ASA addresses then it should all work fine.

You just need to add lines like the following:

    static (dmz, external) 209.x.x.x netmask 255.255.255.255 192.168.x.x

for each of your internal servers in the DMZ. Then an access-list to allow only HTTP/SMTP/etc through these addresses 209.x.x.x.

list of allowed inbound tcp access any host 209.x.x.x eq smtp

list of allowed inbound tcp access any host 209.y.y.y eq http

    Access-group interface incoming outside

  • VMware Fusion 7 and VMware Tools - leak memory in Debian comments

At some point during my updates from Mac OS X to Yosemite, VMware Fusion to 7.x and my Debian a guest to 8.0 "Jessie" on my 2012 Mackbook Pro, leaking memory of the Linux kernel is developed.  If I follow these steps, then I'd lose soon about 3 GB memory of the core area.

    1. Install Debian Jessie in a new machine virtual de VMware Fusion
    2. Install open-vm-tools or VMware Tools bundled.
    3. Perform an intensive IO as operation simply cat/dev/zero |-c 1000000000 head >/tmp/test.txt.
    4. Smem - wtk and see ~ 3 GB memory under the dynamics of the kernel memory, benefit.

I opened the 15709682007 assistance request and the representative said that they will fix the problem in a future release. In the meantime, I have what seems to be a workaround for someone else that is affected.  Basically, pulling packages from backports jessie seems to have solved the problem.  This is based on the comments added to open-vm-tools.

    1. Add the Debian repository -backports jessie in /etc/apt/sources.list
    2. sudo apt - get update; sudo apt - get install t Jessie-backports open-vm-tools-dkms open-vm-Tools-Office
    3. sudo apt - get - t jessie-backports dist-upgrade (install kernel 4.1)
    4. Restart comments

    A few quick thoughts:

    1. If you have several virtual machines (or other programs) running on your computer host and VMware Fusion detects that there is memory pressure on your host computer, it uses the "balloon" (vmw_balloon for the latest distributions of Linux) Guest pilot to fly some memory of the guest OS.  This memory "stolen" would appear as memory Dynamics non-cache kernel inside the guest.  Running "sudo rmmod vmw_balloon" should release all memory climbed to the guest OS.  Note that using the balloon driver generally improves the performance of the guest and host, despite the appearance of fear "used memory" inside the guest-"used memory" is just a thing of accounting that we had to use in order to change the priority of the memory between the host and the guest.  It is not "used" in the conventional sense of the term.

    2. I believe that recent versions of virtual hardware non-cache dynamic kernel allocate the necessary memory for SVGA and 3D features (display RAM, texture RAM, etc.).  Disable graphic 3D acceleration or by reducing the amount of graphics shared memory if you are using a new version of virtual hardware (both in the VM > settings... > display) might help.  Decommissioning of a virtual equipment as early (in the VM > settings... > compatibility) can also help.

    See you soon,.

  • Veeam and Vmware replication

    Hi guys

We are a data center that provides services with replication of Veeam, now a customer is thinking to reproduce their site but using Vmware replication...

you see nothing wrong with having two different products, reproducing in our Datacenter or say 1 vCenter?

Important Veeam replicates a group of virtual machines and Vmware replication will replicate another different group of virtual machines

    Thank you very much

    Hi Escapem2,

Yes, it should be possible. There is not no problem if you use two sellers for a data center or 1 VC from the point of view of replication. You'll have to make sure all the configuration requirements are met.

In the replication of VMware, you will need to install the unit of replication vSphre, Sami is managed based on using the web client. On the other hand, Veem replication has their console where you add your ESXi or VC.

Both these replication technologies are at VM level, there should be no problem until you choose a different set of virtual machines for setting replication job. (There will not be any conflict)

Prospect management VMware replication helps as it is managed by the same web client that manages the entire VMware infrastructure. But there will be a difference from the point of view feature set.

I suggest you first zoom before why customer wishes to go for VMware replication and make the right decision. But you can use the two together.
