2.1 updating, taking always; told by support to wait

I found another thread on this problem, which meant the person doing a factory reset (which I want to avoid):

I got the 2.1 update this morning and began to install it. After 2 hours, I started to realize something was wrong. It retains the 'droid logo' bicycle 'red eye' permanently. After about 3 hours, I called Motorola Tech Support. They told me that this update often takes 4 to 5 hours (which makes my jaw drop). However, I waited 4, then 5, then 6 hours. I called them again. I mentioned that I was told it takes 5 hours, not 6 or more. What the wife says? "Well, Yes, it can take 6 hours or more." She then told me to call back in 2 hours, if she has not yet finished.

I feel totally abandoned by bike now. The two people that I talked to do not seem to help at all. Now, I have a currently useless phone and I don't know what to do about this. This update possibly getting too long? I'm at my company at this time, where I normally have full power and signal signal 3G, so connectivity is not the problem. I made no changes or 'rooting' my phone, I hardly have downloaded applications (especially google tricks - glasses, sky map at night, etc.), and it doesn't just make sense.

As I said, I would avoid a factory reset, if I understand correctly it deletes everything. What should I do? Must I keep waiting?

You can try to boot into recovery mode. The phone must be fed first. If it is stuck in a perpetual startup then pull the battery power off. Now, follow these instructions:

1. press the button 'x' on the physical keyboard while pressing the power button at the same time.

2. when the triangle with the exclamation mark inside appears on the screen then you press volume up button and the button of the camera at the same time.

3. when the system recovery appears use the d key to move the words highlighted to wipe data / factory reset. and then press the key to gold on the pavement d.

I suggest you to follow these steps and check if that helps:

Since it works fine in safe mode, I suggest you to try to perform the clean boot to safe mode and check if it helps:

I've never heard a backup report bugs, however if you are interested in, you can always restore the device as good as new.

No, they are not the same. You really need to put more emphasis on messages displayed by editors / moderators / Admins who have extensive validation "under their belt.

Do yourself a favor and remove the application. Mac do not need AV applications and at best, they will be not hard (but not good either) and at worst will corrupt your system / OSX's built in protection. Your concerns are malicious software that requires the cooperation of the user to install, not the virus.

I don't know why not install microsoft office updates. Maybe because we use cracked versions of office. I think that these updates will not fail if we use a saved version of office 2003. is it so?.

First thing I would do is to remove the cracked versions and then make a broad analysis AV with malwarebytes and other utilities of the VA, not to say what other little hidden surprise, that you got for free.

Windows update PROBLEM - always needs to change first the file distribution system

I am running with Windows Vista Home Basic Edition and are struggling to update my files after a clean reinstall. Finally got through many strategies, but doing so thereafter (once) noticed that the failures occurred each time that the "System of Distribution" file in the windows folder has not had been empty of logs and the previous downloads. Don't know what that means. Any ideas? Could there be a problem with the hard drive, processor, motherboard, short circuit? (Have no problems downloading on other computers in my house, my overall connection is good).

Updates are always safe to download and install on my computer?

After you receive the message that I have updates to download and install, is ALWAYS completely safe to do? With my last PC, I got a typical announcement, completely legitimate-looking that I had "several important updates" that I needed to download and install. I have had these ads before on the necessary updates and always took the lead with download and install them. BUT after the download and installation of these special "updates", my computer was completely dead and never worked again - I couldn't even get it to blue screen! Absolutely no response when I turned it on. Since there was nothing wrong with it before these "updates", I can't help but conclude that some of these "updates" are not only wrong, but also deadly!
