  Hi, I have Windows XP Professional, last month made a fresh install of windows and a complete cleaning. Everything works fine until I hit manually the windows update in the start menu to check if there are new updates for this month of April. • ASUS EAX300 graphics card installed on GX280 but fails to restart

  I installed an Asus EAX300 card in an Optiplex GX280 (Fund form). Card support works correctly using the integrated VGA graphic card and the system reboots successfully in this State. I can install the drivers from AMD and the system detects and uses without rebooting. However, when I reboot the system the diagnostic lights colors 'A' and 'C' show amber and the system stops. (I then remove the card and reset everything with the integrated video card). The diagnostic lights say "defective graphics card", but the card continues to work in VGA mode. Surely the boot sequence occurs before anything to do with Windows is involved so the hardware is identical in both situations, or the process of installing driver somehow flashes an EPROM on the card itself?

  Any suggestions?

  The Asus EAX300 ATI Radeon X 300 uses too much power.  A new ASUS EAH5450 SILENT/DI/1GD3 (LP) Radeon HD 5450 1 GB DDR3 PCI 64 - bit would work but not this card.  This particular card IS NOT and will NOT work in a desktop computer because of drawing too much power.

  This update installed OK on 16/05/2010, it is on my list to add/remove programs. Ever since then automatic update has always tried to install it again. In the historic section of update on the microsoft Update site, it has installed successfully 25 times so far. I uninstalled and tried to reinstall it a few weeks ago, but nothing helped.

  It is always telling me to install today even as I type this. What can I do to resolve this issue, ignoring messages from auto update makes me nervous.
