I'm working on an Air of MacBook 2015 for a customer.  The user spilled liquid on the keyboard, and now it does not start.  They took for a genius, whose repair estimate was high enough that they decided to buy a new MBP instead.  I restored their data from a backup and they are in good shape now, but now I want to wipe SSD of the MBA to keep their personal data to end up in the wrong hands.  Two days later and I still can't find an adapter that will allow me to access the drive on another Mac (I don't have an another MBA from 2015 to use).  Any of you know where I can find an adapter to do so, in order to connect to it and wipe it off?  Here are the specs:

    MacBook Air Core i5 - early 2015

    Model #: A1466 (EMC 2925)

    256 GB SSD (Samsung model #: MZ-JPV256R/0 has 2)

The SSD has a 16 + configuration 12 pins on one side and a configuration pins 11 + 14 on the other.

    Link for reference: http://www.memory4less.com/samsung-ssd-mz-jpv256r-0a2

I know Macs is very much a moving target because they always change their configurations, but this model came out a few years, and I'm a little surprised that I can't find any SATA or USB adapter for it.  Any ideas how I can erase the disc without physically assault would be greatly appreciated.

OWC can have a speaker or you can find them on Amazon. Depends on what the SSD card is exactly in the computer. Some Apple computers do not use the standard pinout that Samsung and other manufacturers use to commercial cards, instead they use those who are owners. However, if the card has been damaged then it will be useless.

Standard PCIe SSD cards have only a pinout on the map, not two, as you can see in the link you provided.

  • Photoshop CC 2015 30 seconds + SSD boot caught up on 'reading Preferences.

Hello I am currently using an i7 retina Macbook Pro 2.3 GHz, 16 GB memory DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce gt 650M 1024Mo

CC of Photoshop is taking approx. It takes about 30 seconds to load and gets the brand "Reading Preferences" after only a few seconds. So, it hangs at 'Reading Preferences' for another + 25 seconds.

I have no plug-ins. I completely did a new install of Photoshop CC without saving the presets, I have my change of graphics turned off on my MBP, I disabled the font previews and validated my fonts using the font book. I uninstalled all previous versions of Photoshop, I had installed. I'm still lost.

I can open Photoshop and it will take 30 seconds... Immediately close and reopen and there about 7 seconds... Close again and it goes back to 30 sec...

I have the same problem on my new iMac that has been cloned to my MBP.

A communication controller simple pci is usually a telephone modem and has nothing to do with your printer.  If you have a laptop with built-in modem, look at your site from manufacturers of laptop computer for the driver.  If it is a desktop computer with a modem to a card slot look for the driver modem manufacturer.

  • Made a decision: would you please help a PAO

Hi, I am wanting to buy a new laptop and 71 who, at my age, maybe the last, I'll buy. I wish that the specification to be as good as I can get with a limit price of £1200. I think I narrowed down it to two models (Envy 15-as004na) and spectrum 15 ap007na. Both are models of 4 K. Both are approximately the same size and weight. Aside from the obvious difference of the spectrum being a 2 1With tablet mode, I see the main differences as follows

Envy has PCIe SSD and spectrum M.2 SSD M.2

Envy has 12 GB of ram DDR4 and spectrum has 16 GB of DD3 ram

Envy has 52 WH battery and spectrum has 65WH battery

    Envy has two B & O speakers and spectrum quad B & O speakers

    My questions are

    1. how much faster the urge will be start-up with SSD PCIe?

    2. What is the difference between DDR3 and DDR4?

3 can I assume that the larger battery will give better battery life (I'm not sure that I can go to claimed the life of the battery).

    4. as will be most of my listening with headphones Bose is there a difference between the models of speakers of 2 and 4 sound quality.

I work a lot using Microsoft Office (spreadsheets and databases), but will use the machine more for watching movies (Netflix, which gives movies 4 K and Youtube and also Sky Sports average sky GB)

It does not seem possible for me to go into a store to try computers because they do not stock these computers appear for demonstration purposes.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

You want the tablet feature? I mean, if he wasn't so its replacement by a portable form factor standard for a form factor 2 in 1.

The processors are the same and are very powerful. Same video chip. One is tactile and we're not. Both are IPS 4 k poster that will be wonderful, except in my touch experience tend to be a little muddy compared to not touch.  Both have 512 GB m2. Envy says expressly that's IS. Envy a DDR4, which is a bit faster and works on a lower voltage should thus extend the battery life. Both are 3 cell batteries, but the spectrum has more Watt-hour capacity, so you have to assume there's going to be the longest running.

I would say that envy will run and start more quickly. Not much. Even a M.2 SATA is very fast but the NVME (aka PCI-e) is like instant - on. I have the new spectrum "the thinnest in the world" which has a PCI-e m2 memory card and it is literally instant - we. My previous laptop was a Lenovo Carbon X-1 with a SATA m2 and it was close but not exactly instant - on.

For what you say you will do, I would say either of these laptops is exaggerated and frankly it boils down to how you want the ability to have a tablet form factor. Envy is a little more durable due to DDR4 memory and PCI - e disk.

  • Problem starting el capitan (sierra) - built-in keyboard and the mouse do not respond

    Hello

I have a 2015 macbook pro (SSD 256, 16 GB of RAM last el capitan updated) with a wired problem.

I use it mainly to a cinema monitor and I use wireless keyboard and mouse (office installation program), and of course as a stand-alone laptop when I'm not at my desk.

When I put the laptop to sleep, everything works fine when I wake up.

but, if I'm away from the office and I have to restart my laptop, here is the problem.

The boot process is very very slow, there is no edge, and when I finally have the screen to unlock the safe, the keyboard and the touchpad do not react. Actually, that's not exactly true, they are so slow that they are unusable and get caught quickly, all gel. So I can't unlock and complete the boot. My laptop is unusable ;-(

At this point, I get a message that if I forgot my password I just need to reboot by pressing the power button, and I'll be able to reset it.

When I do this and aprΦs the dΘmarrage that more slowly than usual but ok, I get another screen with several options of problem solving. One of them is "keyboard not responding do not. When choosing this one, it asks if you want to remove safe. I tried and everything was back to normal.

later, I delivered safe and I had the same problem again. I did the thing to be able to restart again and improved to sierra in the hope that it would disappear. However, the problem is still there.

I thought I could try to restart my office to see if my keyboard and wireless mouse would still work. Indeed, even if responsiveness was not normal, I could unlock and fill the chest.

I have the impression that my laptop always "believe" it is on my desk, linked to my screen (probably the reason why I don't hear the Bell) and to my wireless K & M.

It's really annoying and I hope someone has a solution.

    Thank you very much

    best,

    Alex

I'm having a similar problem with macOS Sierra which I didn't have with El Capitan.  I can possibly move the cursor on the power button and turn off (no), but I must be patient because the keyboard and trackpad are only for a fraction of a second, which only allows me to move the mouse slightly.  After he stop and start back up, everything is perfect until I tried another reboot, and then I'm back to the beginning.

I tried to reinstall the operating system, reset the SMC, resetting the NVRAM, reboot in SafeMode... nothing worked so far.

  • Display random flicker watching videos.

So whenever I look at Netflix or Youtube, the video will play very well, but 30 seconds after he plays, he flickers the video on the screen or decrease intensity for a second or two and then return to normal. This issue started happening when I upgraded to OSX Sierra.  I don't find it a big deal if it happened only once or twice, but sometimes every 30-60 seconds on Netflix and youtube. I tried to restart my MacBook Pro (retina, 13-inch, early 2015) with no luck. So, anyone think they have a potential solution to this? (P.S. Yes, everything is fully updated)

Hey there! I was confronted with this exactly the same problem with probably the same MacBook Pro (retina, 13 inches, early 2015, 128 GB SSD). You can check my comments in these threads:

So far, no solution. But I use Firefox for Netflix playback and I don't have to deal with all the questions.

  • Flickering on Netflix after update of the Sierra

Since the update of my MBP 13 yesterday, there is a massive amount of flicker watching Netflix mode full-screen.   Update of Silverlight has not solved the problem.

Does anyone have a possible solution for this?

    Thank you

I think I'm having the same problem! I don't know what is the appropriate word for what is happening, but my "flicker" happens every minute or so when I watch Netflix full screen. A very short time (about 1 second) the image type of duplicates and moves to the right very quickly. For me, this only happened on El Capitan.

    A few statistics:

    • MacBook Pro MF839 (13 inches, retina, early 2015, 128 GB SSD)
    • Sierra of MacOS

Here are a few tests that I have worked on:

    • I made a safe start-up and also a PRAM Reset - no improvement.
    • This problem happens on Safari and Chrome, so I think that it is not associated with browser. Probably a problem with the video card rendering.
    • If I change the scale display mode and choose all options but the default, the flickering stops (so it only happens when he "feels like 1280 x 800').
    • If while I watch Netflix I move the mouse pointer to the top of the screen (display of the menu bar) and stay there, the flickering stops.

@plantbased: could you share your settings, just so we know if we have the same problem, or if other people can help us?

  • How can I reduce the size that Mac OSX needs during the transition to Windows via bootcamp?

    Hello

I hope you guys can help out me. I am trying to install a copy of Windows on a 13 inch MacBook Pro retina (mid-2015, 256 GB SSD hard drive) through bootcamp. One of the first steps is to partition the SSD drive. When I try this the Mac partition cannot be resized below 70 GB, which leaves only 180 GB available for Windows to use.

I would like to remove OSX completely, or make a small as possible. How do I get there?

    Kind regards

    Daniel

Back up your current installation of OSX, install OSX on an external drive, preferably a USB Flash drive and then boot from it and run BCA, wipe you the drive internal and use it entirely for Windows. Once Windows is completely installed, you can disconnect the USB, or install OSX on an external HDD/SSD.

  • I can't assign capacity on my main partition

    Hi all!

I have the macbook pro 13 "early 2015 250 GB SSD and Im on OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite

As you can see below my main partition cannot get to 250 GB

I tried to drag down (from the right angle) and when I hit 'apply', it goes back again.

If I press the button '+' I get this:

Now when I hit "Apply" I get this error

So basically, I can't maximize my main partition and I can't create a new one on this blank storage.

I used to do this with the restoration of the internet, no luck.

I have no cs, because I have it returned.

Any ideas please? I lost many hours to search the web (I even reinstall OS X) with NO luck

Start the recovery, and then erase the drive. No score, just delete.

  • 2015 Macbook Pro 2.8 GHz > 16GB RAM 1 TB > PCIe SSD > overheating with Thunderbolt Display 27 "> Constant MAX RPM fan speed

    Hello community,

First of all, I want to congratulate Apple on the construction of such a laptop well. It is a luxury product that is clearly desired by most people, which I understand very well that he's a new owner. But entering the heart of the problem that I face outside this machine being an external engineering masterpiece.

    Professional background:

I'm a computer engineer / scientist / programmer by profession. I am currently employed at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) as a Senior Consulting Engineer level IV for their BIG Data Software Division. Yes, I program (Java and c#), scripts (powershell, batch and SQL), solutions architect, design, to test software and debugging, implement large enterprise-level solutions ranging from a cluster of 2 mirrors servers-to-of thousands of servers to multiple clusters (even from a perspective of work station of the missions of deployment from 200 KB - to - 50 jobs in the world) work with SQL databases on a daily basis, working with storage devices (SAN mutli-million dollar NAS and DAS), provide an infrastructure troubleshooting and problem resolution, have 8 international recognised certifications, a degree of master of science and involved with concerts on the side as well as build computers as a hobby. My computer knowledge is vast and my RESUME goes beyond what I have briefly described. It is important that I give this background to demonstrate that my level of computer knowledge is beyond the scope of this post.

    Laptop Usecase:

Recently I bought mid-2015 Macbook Pro 15 "2.8 GHz Intel i7 quad core, AMD dedicated GPU, 16 GB of RAM, 1 Portable SSD PCIe TB from an authorized Apple dealer. To maximize the beauty of this gem, I also bought a monitor Thunderbolt Apple 27 "due to its ability to offer a dedicated gigabit NIC and additional USB connectors. Basically, the screen acts as a central docking for the laptop and offers additional i/o that does not have the laptop (somewhat a disappointment that it's called a 'PRO' for laptop - this can be discussed in an extra thread).

I will mostly use the laptop for tasks related to work as operating on dozens of remote servers via RDP, using office 2011 and 2016 Lync, Eclipse for Java programming, access the HPE intranet for related tasks at work, set up conference calls, connection with clients remotely via WebEx or TeamViewer and typical everyday computing. For fun, I'll use the laptop to compose music through Logic Pro X, browsing the Web, doing work with Photoshop/Lightroom/and other products Adobe, Web browsing, Email, Youtube, NetFlix, coding, and other basis for computing tasks.

    Question:

I am primarily an engineer Windows to the heart and don't work well with Unix/Linux, so forgive me if certain acronyms and terminology is slightly outside when it comes to the OS.

The question that I am currently facing is how HOT and high cell phone VOICE gets during very little use. It seems that, given the 27 "Apple Thunderbolt connected display cause heating and the fans to be excessive and loud. 'A little' work around the question I unplugged the lightning poster power adapter and have dedicated the trendy laptop adapter. It 'a bit' reduces the amount of heat generated, which reduces the speed of the fan to be a little less quiet. However, the noise level of fans and heat is not reduced enough to convince me!

After the control process during the time of the laptop being extremely strong and warm, I noticed the only vivid process is the process of "kernel_task". However, I debunked this theory by leaving the unit to return to a normal state, that required me disconnected the Thunderbolt display, and the process ran again without all the negative effects of heat and noise.

So, why Apple would create a laptop that indicates the external monitor is fully compatible, can support up to 2 external displays with no problems and provides a support for this configuration, if there are any other problems when connecting?

    * Please do not provide responses that I have received a bad laptop or a bad monitor. Appears not to be the case because when I am doing absolutely nothing on the machine, heat is minimal and the fans are 'enough' quiet, even when connected to the Thunderbolt display. However, even simple web browsing on the Thunderbolt display forces do MAX out fans and heat is generated quickly.

I love this laptop. His elegant, fun to work on, is luxurious and is a potential item that meets all my needs. But I just can't justify spending more than $4 K on a configuration that will cause problems and significantly reduce the lifetime of the laptop.

1 should I return the laptop and love at first sight appear and waiting for Skylake edition which will be released in the coming months (energy consumption reduced, rising in power and performance, and (?) one possible different GPU that excels much better than 'crap' AMD GPU?

    2. or should I paste and see if a solution or resolution is proposed to the issues that I am experiencing?

    3. I see the same problems all over the internet. Anyone else here has the same problems?

    4. why Apple would invest in this GPU 'cheap' for such a machine power? AMD? Really? (< (less="" than)="" $150="">

    5. How can I host a Lync call with clients when I hear more the laptop that I can hear them?

    My thoughts:

I spent $6 000.00 on the construction of an incredible machine at home. It has an Intel i7 5960 X Octa-Core processor, nVidia GTX 980, 64 GB RAM Corsair DDR4, 12 TB of disk 7200 RPM, a 512GB SSD for the OS and temporary storage, power 1200 Watt, card reader 5 in 1, a player Blu Ray optical blazing fast, liquid cooling, a Premium Asus Sound Card, the card mother 'best!' on the market (I finished this statement that fans just went back to MAX RPM0 - maybe) because I'm throwing my personal build an Apple forum?), a mechanical keyboard, mouse laser with 12 K dpi and five monitors 24 ".

I was willing to spend that money on a laptop of luxury that I can travel with, but is it really worth what I'm going through? Also, others on the Internet said they have returned their Macbook Pro for the same model without the dedicated GPU and no longer meet the problem. BUT why someone would invest $3 K in a machine without a good graphics card? IT MAKES NO SENSE TO ME.

PLEASE, I BEG YOU! Can someone help APPLE me this question?

If I am not convinced to the contrary, Apple then lost me as a customer forever and return to Windows, I oppose the $4 500.00 I spent. If I am convinced to stay, then Apple will get $4K out of me at all times every 3-4 years, I invested in most any software.

Also, if I can post a video showing you what I'm listening to, then you will be in shock. Honestly, I'd like to keep this machine, but I need help to understand what is happening and what can be done to correct the problem.

    Thank you

    mjaestewart

Everyone from Apple have a preview? I am pretty surprised to have not received a response.

  • want to 24-n250ur: SSD m.2 Bulldozer - 4GL Envy 24

I'm a 24-n250ur on matherboard Bukdozwe-4GL. What type of m2 is it? PCI-E or SATA? I want to buy a SSD drive Samsung 850 evo. Will it work? I've never been able to find an answer.

    Hi K0stya2007,

While our PC is different, both use the same motherboard of Bulldozer-4GL.

Here is the link of product to your craving 24-n250ur.

The 128 GB SATA III SSD M.2, tried at the beginning did not work. He was never taken over by the BIOS or in the operating system. However, when I tried the Samsung 950 PRO NVMe M.2 256 GB it was immediately recognized by BIOS and Windows 10 drive. Here is the link to the ssd which worked in my PC.  I pulled my other system to test.
    http://www.Samsung.com/us/computing/memory-storage/solid-state-drives/SSD-950-Pro-nVMe-256gb-MZ-v5p256bw/#specs

I was surprised that the motherboard supports PCIe is that I wasn't expecting that pleasntly.  Now I'm not saying that it will work with your PC, but I would definitely give it a try (especially if you can return the drive, if it is not). Make sure m2 slots are enabled in the BIOS, otherwise it won't work.

HP could have saved us a lot of headaches if he said simply that the m2 slot is PCIe somewhere in the documentation instead of simply "a slot m2 for SSD" and we have to guess.  In any case, I'm just glad that it works for me.

Let us know how it turns out for you.  Good luck!

    Thank you!

    Hi there @iliyas1985,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!  I understand that you are looking for help for a potential installation of SSD.   I'm happy to help you with this.

Looking at HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - specifications of the motherboard, IPISB-NK (Lavaca3-SB)for your system, it has the following internal expansion slots:

Two PCI Express mini card Sockets (generation 2 speed)
A PCI Express MXM slot that takes care of a PCI Express x 16 graphics card (generation 2 speed)

So if you find an SSD, which is compatible with those you can try to use it, but it's never a guarantee that both devices will work together.

Please let me know if it works for you and if it does not solve your problem, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.
