256 colors on Windows XP?

We have installed typing for Windows 3.1 kid, but we continue to get this message on Windows XP: support type CD requires kid for 256 colors. What to do now...?

You may need to run the program in Compatibility Mode of the chance.  It has a setting to 256 colors.  For more information:

  • [windows 7] Pixel Bender accident on launch without error message, works only in mode 256 colors

I recently installed Pixel Bender and it worked the first time I started it, but I've since updated my NVidia driver, and now it crashes at startup.

I tried to change the program setting in the NVidia Control Panel and tried all options of compatibility, but also 16-bit color, but it does that mode 256 colors, as suggested by this old thread:

mode 256 colors makes it impossible to view any kind of basic shaders so I have to export flash develop at each change.

Device Manager does no fallback option, and my computer is in dire need this update, I'm stuck.

    Hello

To resolve this problem simply change the name of the sniffer_gpu.exe file in the Pixel Bender Toolkit folder to any other without ".exe" for example sniffer_gpu.exe.bak. This will stop this toolkit to get a GPU that can be incompatible with app (see manual for supported GPUS) and forces CPU usage to make images.

  • Re: Try to run in 256 colors with Ati Mobility Radeon HD2600 on e

Hi, I need to run applications in 256 colors in 32-bit of Windows Vista. Right click and check in the properties to 256 colors do not work. Ati Mobility Radeon HD2600 properties, we can only choose between 16-bit color or 32-bit.

You can support me a solution to my problem? Maybe a driver twisted?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Vista disables the default 256 color mode, but if you right-click on the file, select Properties, then the Compatibility tab there should be
an option to run in mode 256 colors, but I don't know if these settings in your system using 256 colors will fix the program.

Since you´ve already tried, you can also try to install a virtual system like VMware and then install Win95/98 in VMware. Then it should work.

Sorry, but I searched and find a solution to the couldn t. Maybe you should google on some microsoft sites to find a workaround... typing "256 colors Vista" should help.

I am trying to install a game for my daughter.

Maybe this post in microsoft.public.windows.vista.games too, but the game you are trying to install?

Vista disables the default 256 color mode, but if you right-click on the Setup file, select Properties, then the Compatibility tab there should be an option to run 256 color mode, but I don't know of many games where the configuration of your system in mode 256 colors will set the installation program.

    Good luck

  • How can I scan in 256 colors?

I've updated from CS3 to CS5 and must be able to import using TWAIN so that I can scan in 256 colors as I used to with the CS3 version. I can't convert to 256 colors afterwards that the quality is too bad. I use Windows 7 64-bit. I tried to install the TWAIN plugin in the plugins/Adobe/import folder, but it doesn't appears not in options import after the restart of Psalm I wouldn't mind demotion to the PS3, if I have to. Can you help me please? Thank you.

You should have both versions 32 and 64 bit installed by default. I have run Windows x 64 and got 32 and 64 bit versions of cs6. The 32-bit version must be in the folder C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\.  x 86 refers to the old 32-bit programs.

If this is not the case, do a reinstall and make sure 32 and 64 are checked.

If you want that your CS3 program, it is still there unless you have uninstalled it.

  • How to display a column with a representation of the image color in Windows Explorer on Windows 7?

    OK, here's my situation...

I have a directory with 300 + JPG images in it; I'm hoping to use some (if not all) of these images for a project.

However, the project has very specific requirements for the image dimensions, resolution, and a representation of the colors; So I need to evaluate the supplied images to validate if they are all in line with these requirements.

If I right click on an individual image and choose Properties - then click on details, I can see the image information such as:

    • Dimensions,
    • horizontal resolution,
    • vertical resolution, and
    • color representation.

... which would be perfect if I had only 1 or 2 images to cross; but with more than 300 images, it becomes cumbersome.

So: I put the "Détails" view folder and added columns for dimensions, horizontal and vertical resolution resolution.

This helps my cause, because I can then sort the directory... and quickly see if the images are too small, too big, or unacceptable resolution.

However, I have not found a way to add a column for the representation of colors.

Is it possible to add a column for the representation of colors?

    Hello

Unfortunately there is no other option to define the representation of colors in Windows Explorer. If you want to provide feedback about it, then check out the link:

  • Why PS shows only 256 colors steps in a 16 bit per channel workflow

Hi - members of the forum.

I'm a little confused on the way PS (CS5) plays with the colors when editing images (RAW-converted) in RGB 16-bit per channel mode.

(please don't mind if I use some English phrases wrong here - since PS to my work is German)

-> I think I would be able to choose among a variety of 65535 (16-bit =) color steps for every R - V or B channel... bus PS still Let's select me just (= 8 bit) 256 colors per channel (in the color palette on the right - also the "pickup" color tool will display 8-bit values - image certainly has the 48-bit color depth).

Why am I asking? I get a screen capable of displaying colors 10 bits per channel in PS (NEC PA241W, ATI over-pants V5800, DisplayPort-> 30 Bit color in Adobe PS) next week. And so I need a better color resolution (which would mean: 16 bits in PS) in order to avoid the effects of the bands.

Anyone know why I can't select more colors here or how to change this behavior?

Thank you very much in advance for your answers!

Munich huh? November 1, recovered yet?

which at the present time, of course, cannot be viewed by my actual display)

Any consumption of beer, the best approach is to forget what can be viewed on the screen. Your screen always displays a version or a loose amended representation of colors that are actually in your document. This also applies to 8 bits, which is much better than you seem to think.

  • Colors in Windows Vista

    Hello

I'm a bit confused with the difference in colors in windows vista.

I have a calibrated monitor. Display of the web, and when you edit photos in Lightroom, all the colors look correct.

That being said, when I export a view with jpeg and Windows Photo Gallery, the colors always seem very well (as in Lightroom).

If I were to apply the photo as my desktop wallpaper, this is when the colors change. I also noticed the same difference

When you view the jpeg exported in windows mail after sending emails to my 'sent folder '.

I don't understand why the windows poster (correctly) colors photo gallery but differ from my computer desktop or windows mail.

I have my saved ICC monitor profile set as the default my Spyder 3.

Someone at - it clues as to why. It seems the system should display the same colors?

Thank you for any help or advice.

    Dave.

Simply because because the desktop wallpaper and mail are not color management. That is, they leave your profile and your Spyder.

If the difference is not tolerable and you want to get the "correct" colors for your background, you can use your profile screen like color space when exporting. In Mail, you just have to live with it.

  • index palette for 256 color when performing edition bitmap?

    Hi all.

I'm a Director beginner to start working on what I think will be a very simple project, but I need to do something specific non-newbie.  I hope someone with the knowledge of the Director can quickly point me in the right direction and save me a ton of frustration.

I work with 256 color bitmaps, made a kind of thing of paint by numbers and change the entries in an index of palette bitmaps on the fly.  When bitmapA is clicked, the color of the pixel is read from the index of the palette and stored.  When bitmapB is clicked, this index value of corresponding to the pixel palette is replaced by stored color.

Director can do this?  should I look for in lingo or java script?  I'm in a position where I don't know what I don't know.  I am looking for someone to tell me what to go and learn about to be able to do this.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Split your image into 40 or 50 layers looks like a major pain. If you use Director 11.x, then you can use a single image and manipulate the colors with a byteArray. He must be fast enough for your needs.  The attachment is a file D11.5 with the color of the sample replace code.
