I converted a clip video .mov .avi and inserted in Windows Movie Maker, but it's only playing as sound and no video, why?

There may be some compatibility issues with .avi files...
try to convert the .mov file to .wmv format before
import into Movie Maker.

There are many programs that can do conversions...
The following freeware is an example...:

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

Format Factory
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Format_Factory
(the 'direct link' is faster)
(the file you want to download is: > FFSetup260.zip<>
(FWIW... installation..., you can uncheck
('all' boxes on the last screen)

First, you will need to decompress the file or just open the
Drag FFSetup260.exe out of the folder
and drop it on your desktop. To install left click.

Next, after the download and installation of Format
Factory... you can open the program and
left click on the toolbar, the "Option" button and
"Select an output folder to" / apply / OK.
(this is where you find your files after they)
are converted)

Drag and drop your clips on the main screen .mov...

Select "all to WMV" / OK...

Click on... Beginning... in the toolbar...

That should do it...

Good luck...

• Modification of ProRes clips in the timeline, then export > media such as ProRes: fact first re-compress the ProRes clips?

To clarify: ye olde Final Cut Pro 7, you were editing ProRes clips and then get out a Quicktime with the appropriate settings, it would NOT re - compress the source ProRes, just copy > paste individual images into a new Quicktime (ProRes intra-image).

In Premiere Pro, it export media in the same way, if your source clips are ProRes and you export a ProRes Quicktime? Or does do a re coverage - compress to ProRes from the timeline to create the new ProRes?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

If you only cut or edit the clip, do any other changes (for example: do not add effects, etc) and then export to the same codec with the clip settings (rate, size of the image, etc.), then Yes. First will be smart make the clip. For the record, once you select the corresponding ProRes codec, you can click on Source corresponds to match the parameters.

Once you add effects or set up an export setting unmatched (frame rate, etc.), then first you have to re - compress.

• Premiere Pro CC Mac - bar Yellow spotted with ProRes clips?

Hello:

Even though I made sure that my sequence settings are exactly fit my parameters of clip (ProRes4444 or 422HQ), I get a yellow bar on my sequence.

I work on a Mac Pro OS 10.7.5 2012. I downloaded first Pro CC earlier today; I thought that I would play with it to see how it compares to FCP7. Most of my NLE use is very simple, just assemble sections of motion graphics and 3D animations made out of After Effects in the ProRes 4444 codecs.

The 'New sequence of the Clip' function is not behave as I expect. The comparable feature in FCP creates a sequence that corresponds to all aspects of the selected item (size, framerate, codec, etc.). The implementation of the first seems to only match the size of the sequence and the framerate to the selected item.

If I create a new sequence of ProRes clip or say the sequence to match the clip, I expect this clip to be sitting in my calendar with no bar of any color. But I have a yellow bar. When I go into the settings of the sequence, I see that the edit mode is rear camera and the video preview is grayed out on a MPEG format. I have to go to the custom and manually select the Quicktime, then specify the corresponding ProRes codec. These codec and wrapper settings should not be matched automatically too when I've specified this function?

That said, if I manually match the settings of codec for my clip I always get the yellow bar. If I select another sequence and click the new sequence the yellow bar disappeared.

I'm assuming this yellow bar problem is a display of some kind error, because if I export the sequence with the "Match sequence settings" chosen export happens very quickly that I expect a sequence of Smart compatible rendering.

Is this a bug?

Thank you.

• You can sharpen video clips in iMovie 10?

Given that I have not found a sharpening tool, I have a feeling that the direct answer is no.

But there may be a type of workaround? My situation is that I have a video where the camera was about 30 feet away from the action. The raw video is strong, but several times I want to crop so a person especially in a group is close-up for a few seconds or more. Of course, when you approach you lose quality, so I want to see if I can make any kind of manipulation to make the not so fuzzy cropped image.

Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately, you are right. Their is no sharpening tool and since iMovie not exception plugins there is no third-party solution. What I found, it's that, with a few sensible adjustments to contrast and brightness, you can make the clip appear sharper, so you could try that and see if that will help.

Yes. I use the Notes Plus. Goodnotes will also convert handwriting. There are probably other apps as well.

Of course, if your writing is like mine, it's kinda a crap shoot.

• How can I register clips unrelated

Some of the clips I divided that were formerly connected are now independent and I cannot "meet" their return. I want to join these clips together so that I complete my film in the sections.

Thanks in advance for the help.

You can join only clips that have been gathered once and do not have be cut, but what you're trying to achieve? All the clips on the timeline will join together when you share.

• I can't paste clip art into windows mail. (copied from word document - using IE8) How can I fix?

I can't paste clip art into windows mail. (do not give me the option.) I copied the clipart in Word document. I use IE8, IE9, but unnstalled have in the hope of resolving the problem. Thank you, Pam

You cannot copy and paste images (especially the cliparts) of the word. You need to refer to a disk image. So use Insert | Picture to insert the image. The image must also be a format that IE can display, as it is used to show messages in WinMail.

IE9 is not a problem for that. See here for IE9 questions: www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#15
