  When Lightroom and elements will support Nikon D600?  Is Meanwhile a workaround for D600 raw files can be exported to Lightroom or am I just out of business until what Adobe develops the necessary patch?

• Re-installing lightroom and elements of a disk

  I have lightroom 5 and elements 13 installed on my computer from a disc bought less than a year ago. Unfortunately, I'm having a problem with windows 7 and need to perform a system recovery. I will lose all my programs installed. I'll be able to re - install the two of them drive? I thought they were protected, you cannot use both times.

  What you need to do, if you can, before executing the recovery, is to disable the 13 items so that you release the activation to another use (you can have two machines with active installations, so, releasing that leave you with an extra yet).   You don't have to do it to Lightroom because it doesn't have a feature to disable (until you get to version 6).

  Your drive should still be good to use, but if you have a problem, you can download the installation files and activate using the serial numbers, you have discs.

  I am a new photographer. I am looking to buy one of these software. I am wanting to know what the difference between photoshop elements 11 and lightroom 4? What is the best? That one is recommended most? If you could help me in choosing one to buy that would be greatly appreciated.

  PSE11 and LR4 have many features similar (and overlapping) and the same significant differences in time. The result is that many users find that they are complementary and work with both.

  We will see different tasks:

  -raw conversion: LR is the King, but PSE11 has a smaller version for 90% of your needs

  -Organization: both use a sqlite database system. LR is supposed to be more powerful: I would say that it's a lot hotter with many useful options. The Organizer in elements offers a very useful command backup back up not only the catalogs, but also your media files.

  -Editing: it's the originality and strength of LR: it offers "parametric" edition. You are not required to make copies of your edited files, save only the stages of change. Note that when you use RTAs in PSE11, the same is true.

  However, even if the new version of LR offers local editing tools, it is not as powerful as PSE11 which has a lot of powerful tools such as masks and layers. For this reason alone, most users of LR also have another editor like Photoshop CS6 software, but very often, the PSE is the best Companion.

  The main thing to understand is works in Lightroom. Note that the advantage of starting with PSE11 is that it can do all tasks and be the best companion in the future if you decide to go with Lightroom. LR can easily convert your PES catalogues, nothing will be lost.

  (1) you need absolutely not LR if you have elements, but many find to have two speeds of their workflow and results in the best images.

  (2) Lightroom brings many features to the table not found in the elements.  LR has a database (library) module that enables faster, more comprehensive searches for photos on your computer.  If you shoot in raw, LR offers a superior user interface.  Treatment of multiple images with similar needs at the same time is easier in LR.

  (3) there is nothing wrong with what the two programs.  You can have both and use one or the other, as I sometimes do. Everyone has their own niche, and there is a large overlap of function.   LR is a tool sufficient for a lot of photos and tasks.  For those, it is faster and easier to use than the elements.  Elements has a true pixel Editor so can make improvements more sophisticated in a picture.  In fact, the most powerful combination of software is LR and Photoshop, but elements is a decent PS approximation if you don't need 16-bit image.

  (4) LR 4 had some teething problems, but everyone I know personally using 4 LR is satisfied with the current article 4.1 LR.  There is for the most part agree that LR 4.1 is a little slower than LR 3.6, but I wouldn't not LR 4 by fear of having 'problems '.    I have not heard of any conflict between the elements and LR 4.1.  There are still problems reported on other forums, but I suspect that they affect a number low and decreasing of users and may be not very different from other imaging applications

  (5) did not in LR must be restored in the elements. After the conversion and adjustment in LR, you would spend an image on elements of other improvements If necessary.    LR does not layers, compositing, and other pixel technical edition - which is exclusively the Photoshop / elements area.  Normally, raw and basic adjustments image conversion (and slightly more) is made in LR.  When the image is transferred to the elements such as tiff or jpeg, it is exactly as he left LR.

  I just bought a Nikon D7000 and cannot open RAW images in Lightroom 2 or 7 elements.  I used these 2 programs successfully with pictures from my Nikon D70s.  If someone has encountered this problem?

  You need Lightroom 3.3 or Elements 9 to process Nikon D7000 raw photos.

  An alternative is to download the DNG Converter (version 6.3) and convert your D7000. NEF files to DNG, in which case your elements and Lightroom versions will be able to process DNG photos.

  Adding text is possible, but limited in LR.

  Both applications have a 30 day trial period, and to describe the differences would take oars. In general, LR is designed for digital photographers, while the PS and PES have far more wide reach, but don't are not so honed in on new images, as is LR.

  There is really little need to keep if you replace the older versions with new professionals in the creative cloud collection. But I'd keep around until you are sure the work of CC versions on your system and no, you don't need to delete them.

• Issue of crossover of Lightroom and elements

  Windows7 LR 5.7.1 PSE version 10

  Used items for 10 years when I installed the LR5 on the same machine. It has been a learning curve very difficult for me, but it is another question. At the time with elements, I knew nothing about the folder structure having no idea that there was still such things. During the installation of LR process he asked me if I wanted to update LR with pictures of 'the State' items to which I said yes. Imagine my surprise when all left the screen of LR were records. The next thing that I noticed that my keywords were a total mess with many of them transfers is not on, (smoothing them took a year). At this point, I have returned and opened items to see if there was anything I could do from there to correct keywords. Then I noticed that all the thumbnails for my images were always there that was confusing to me because I just sent them to LR, or so I thought. Each of the thumbnails had a question mark in the upper-left I learned later the file was missing.  Not a problem as they were in LR and not lost.--now for the current edition. A year has passed since I had open items. I recently opened items to find that hundreds of these photos which were used to have a question mark on them, are not now. To my way of thinking items has reconnected hundreds. I want to uninstall items because I do not use it. I'm terrified that if I take photos that appear to be reconnected will disappear from my computer. At if anyone were to this before and can give me advice. I hope that someone from Adobe.

  Your plan seems to be additional work which would not bring anything extra. And it also contains the possibility of making mistakes...

  If you have the right keywords and other metadata you find your photos, and then consolidate the records does not improve your organization somehow.

  I would say that let alone records, is the simplest approach, and it has some drawbacks.

  I have 5 Lightroom and 14 items installed on my mac that plays (the Mac that is) so think to do a reinstall of the operating system on a mac, how do I disable lightroom and elements so I can use them again when you are ready?

  There is no such thing as disabling for Lightroom 5.

  I do not know PSE14, you should probably ask in the forum PES.
