• L10-202: ACPI Module does not work with Linux SUSE 10

  I bought a Toshiba laptop L10-202 a few weeks ago and tried to install SUSE 10 on it. The installation went well but I have some problems with ACPI modules.
  I know that Toshiba recommends Windows XP but I have nowhere to ask for help because I could not find help on Linux forums. I should mention that I've recompiled the kernel because I considered that this was not necessarily.
  So far, the modules ACPI informs me on the temperature of the processor (57 degrees Celsius, the fan starts and at 52 degrees Celsius, it stops) and the only function that works is suspension on HARD drive. The battery level is not indicated because there is no file in/proc/acpi/battery/to read information on the battery. Except another ACPI hardware was detected by SUSE installation and works very well. I couldn't use the Toshiba_acpi module because this laptop has a Phoenix BIOS, but this isn't a big problem.

  You have an idea why ACPI does not work on SUSE and how could I solve the problem?

  Don't you think that there is no danger for the laptop to continue using SUSE, which limited the work of ACPI modules could cause damage to my laptop or it is safe to use SUSE?

  Well well, in my own opinion it s desirable that all functions of the laptop should work properly. But I put t think he might of s for laptop computer continue to use the Suse10.
  I would recommend using the other Linux distribution. That use you the Knoppix. This Linux you can stat from a CD or DVD and it works like a normal Linux operating system and you can also use the Windows XP.

• 6 Lightroom work with graphics from Nvidia Geforce GTX 950 m 4 GB?

  Im looking to buy a laptop to attach my Canon D3300 to images of product quick and easy to download from a Web site.  I'm looking for a laptop HP with an i7-5500U processor and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 950 M 4 GB Descrete graphics card for nearly $1,000.  Someone had problems with this graphics card and Lightroom 6?  Any opinions on the graphics card being ok for imaging?  Suggestions?

  Works fine on a GTX 960 M 4 GB on 10 to win with the Nvidia card set in the Nvidia Control Panel as processor preferred LR6.

  VIX can be installed on Linux and Windows, please take a look at the VIX documentation for more details. What do you mean 'manage' the Linux machines, if you are referring to the actual VM shell management, yes it can manage the configuration or the addition of hardware virtual/etc, but it is independent of the type guestOS. If you are familiar with the vSphere Client, all that you can do this, you can automate through the vSphere API. If you want to perform specific things within the guestOS, then VIX allows you to do and the functionality is exactly the same as if you join the guestOS itself. This means that if you want to run the command "uptime" on a UNIX/linux system, you can do this with the VIX API, again I recommend that you take a look at the documentation for details.

  However, your computer probably has the latest UEFI instead of the BIOS, and this causes problems for some with start-up and installation.

  If the live system starts and runs, I'd go for it.

  I'll put the admins the trouble to make their usual warning: "of course, Linux is not supported by Toshiba."

  I'm a big fan of Toshiba, but it's the last time I buy a Toshiba product. Producing none of Toshiba laptops running Linux? Least toshiba engineers could do is to make sure that a live ubuntu cd works on the laptop, to make sure that the fan starts and check maybe even the graphics driver works. If it's the fault of ubuntu then drop a bug in launchpad. As far as I know, none of the new Toshiba laptops have a fan that works properly, don't waste your money.
