6 Lightroom does not recognize my nikon d5300.

Other software can see the camera (I tried digicam) what I can do.  I tried the recommended troubleshooting and it does not help.  My husband has lightroom 5 on his Apple and it recognizes the camera either.  Adobe does not offer any call to support.

I ended up going into Device Manager and deleting the drivers for the Nikon d5300.  I rebooted and reinstalled the device.  It now seems to work, even if I have to wait about 20 seconds for my computer to find the camera.
