600EX-RT

Can I set the flash to the subject on my RT 600EX distance to get f/stop?

Yes, but if you use modifiers that everything goes out the window.  If you are going to measure your background, probably with a light meter, then why not just use a light meter for flash too?

Flashing older had those features because they were designed for the film.  You didn't know what you were going to do until you have developed your film.  There's a reason why the is no longer included, only, they do not offer many advantages to digital.   I would say that with some practice, you can come too close with a first guess as you could with a scale.  I come usually pretty close the first time with my flashes in my softbox or umbrella, at ISO 100 and 400; just because I do it a lot.  Nevertheless, it is digital.  Take a shot, check it out with the histogram and readjust.  If you insist, use a light meter.

  • How to turn off the flash on a 600ex and still use it to control unit main radio send?

I have several 600 EX - RT flashes.  Currently, I don't have a ST-E3-RT.  I thought that I read somewhere that you can turn off the flash in one of the of the 600EX and still have it control others.  I would like to be able do this by using a 600EX in my claw with the Flash disabled in Radio mode, controlling the other 600 EX flashes.

Is this possible to do?  If so what are the steps in specific menus or what is the specific manual page, I need to go to in order to know how to turn the flash on the master to the wide and still, it works like the sending unit for the other 600 in radio mode.

    Thank you

    Jason

Menu of your camera has a menu option for flash (the specific wording depending on the camera model).

Enter this menu and tell him to 'disable' the flash.  This will allow the flash to do everything he does (for example the focus-assist beam will work, the radio will work, etc... but he fires the flash to take pictures.)

  • Get slaves 600EX-RT to fire only via the pop-up Flash

I have a set up as slave and controlled by the 60 d 600EX-RT using the pop-up flash.  I have the 60 d settings for the slave to fire single pages 140 and 141 of the 60 d manual.  However, in this context the pop-up flash fires again.  At the end of page 141, he said "even if you disable the built-in flash of firing, it is always light to control the slave unit".  Is there no way to disable the pop-up flashing?  Otherwise you never truly unique off-camera flash.  Thank you.

Is there no way to disable the pop-up flashing?  Otherwise you never truly unique off-camera flash.  Thank you.

No, if you want to trigger a slave camera because it uses the pop-up flash as the triggering of the slave device.

Yes, you get unique off-camera Flash because although pop-up flashes, it's only a pre-flash to trigger the slave.  In this configuration, that the pop-up does not contribute to the actual exposure, all this happens before the opening of the shutter.

  • Cover my 600EX-RT flash LINK is still red in slave mode

Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me here.

I got my Flash Canon & T5i recently, these two works great when the flash is mounted on the camera, but when Iam using the flash in the mood of the slave with the camera the cover link turns red indicating no connection between both & do not come to green at all, here are my settings:

    T5i camera:

    Flash shooting Enabled

E - TTL II measuring device to assess

Built in flash set to Cust wireless

Wirless Func value for the two flash fires (on camera & external)

    Shooting defined group at ALL

using Channel 4 for communication with flash

    Flash 600EX-RT:

    Wireless Radio slave

    ETTL

    Channel 4

    Group A

How can I get both to work via the wireless radio signal, please help thank you.

600EX-RT can work wireless or via radio - or - optical trigger.

The native ability to the _only_ T5i is to trigger an external flash via optical... not radio.  To do radio, you must either add the camera ST-E3-RT trigger... or put another 600EX-RT flash camera to act as the master of the radio.

You can, however, pass the 600EX-RT in 'optics' slave mode  To do this, hold the link button until the screen backlight is yellow (not green) and the symbol in the upper right corner shows lightning (not the antenna of the radio).  The link light goes out in optical mode (since there is no radio activity).  Also the Red accent-assistance LED beam will be impulse/Flash on the front of the Flash to tell you it is active (you can turn off if it's distracting.)

Note that perspective requires line of sight.  Support of the 600 who hides behind the red lens on half lower 600EX-RT.  You may need to rotate the lower part of the 600EX-RT to face the flash on the camera so that it can 'see' the flashover on the device; the flash head rotates so you can always point it where you need - independent how half lower faces.

Note that (and it's confusing) even if you "disable" the on-camera flash because you don't want there light in your pictures... you will ALWAYS see it fire.  But he fires the flash instructions for the remote control while the shutter is always closed.  The shutter opens, and only off-camera flash goes off (if you have disabled the on-camera flash).  All this happens so fast that you would think that both flashes have been used for shooting.  Thorough image will reveal that the light of the camera was not present in the shot when the shutter is open.

  • 600ex trigger with an another ST - E3 with a ST - E3

    Hello

    I am two 600ex-rt and two st - e3.

with 2 st - e3, I know that I can trigger the 3 5 to take the picture wireless using a st - e3 on the 5 d 3 and hand holding the other st - e3. with this configuration in mind, can I also trigger a 600ex-rt to trigger too with the click of the shutter on the 5 d 3?

    Thank you

    Scott

I just did a quick test... I do not have a ST-E3-RT so I had to do so because of a couple of 600EX-RTs.

BUT... I used one on the camera of the RT-600EX as the master.  Then, I used a 2nd 600EX-RT as a slave and used the trigger on the slave.

The slave said the captain to the fire, the master then tells the camera to take the picture and all plays as if I had used the shutter of the camera the camera makes all the stuff of E - TTL II (count & pre flash metering, power levels of all on the strobes and then takes the hit).  The two flashes of fire.

If its allure for me than the distant light can do the same thing by pressing the shutter button on the camera.

The camera will usually need to focus before in this case, so I have previously focused on the 5 d III and then put the lens in manual focus mode so that the focus would not be a problem.

BTW, in the case where any who which _not_ own a 5 D III (or a camera made in 2012 or after) reads this... it will not work with any Canon camera.  The new cameras has the ability to communicate with these new radio-triggered flashes through the hot-shote.  I have a 5 d II, for example and it will work _not_ via the hoof on a 5 d II, but Canon made an accessory cable.  The flashes 600EX-RT actually have a record on them which connects to the output port wired remote shutter release on the older cameras camera body.  I tested the ability of remote shooting with my 5 d II (using the cable) and it works.

  • 600EX-RT with CP-E?

I guess I can use the old Battery Pack CP-E with a 600EX-RT. Is this correct?

Yes, it will work fine. All the Canon "Compact Battery Packs" extinguish the same 300 volts. Is not mater if they're 8 or 6 AA batteries. The volatge of output is the same.

  • Sign of error on my RT 600EX

Anyone here have seen the problem like this before and how to fix it? I tried to reset it and turn it back on but the sign error still there. It would be great if you could help me on this problem.

The good news is that this is not an error or irregularity.

The «!» Message from WP"means that you have the Committee"large"in use, AND that your flash head is sharp all right - you have inclined the head of flash for a rebound.

The purpose of this warning message is to warn you that you can get under-exposure.

You can lift and push your wide Panel in place of storage OR tilt the flash head down to the right position and the message will disappear.

  • 600EX Flash - 5 d III. The flash exposure compensation.

How can I set the exposure compensation to the FLASH of the camera. It seems that I have to set on the back of the flash exposure compensation. I wish I could change the settings of the FLASH of the camera, not the flash.

I just press the button Q. FEC is a function on the quick control screen. Use the multi controller to scroll and put highlight the FEC function then use the quick dial (large dial) to set desired FEC.

The beauty of it is if you work in a busy environment and you press the Q button again the FEC function will be selected when the quick control screen is turned on. The only time wherever it will not be highlighted, it is if you chose another function. Easy scrolling just to him.

TCampbell is correct. The FEC setting must be a zero on the flash itself for the FEC function work on the quick control screen.

  • An EX-430-II and a 600-EX-RT off-camera with a 5 d Mark II?

    Hello

This is probably a ridiculous question, but I have looked around a bit and I am distraught.

For a few months now, I did experiment with a detached flash (430 EX II), triggered by a simple, cheap, while manual mode wireless trigger. I wanted to add a second light source, to the establishment, so ultimately decided to go for a 600-EX-RT, thinking that after a year or two, I would replace the 430 by 600 others.

Until I get the other 600, I intend to work with a trigger with two receivers that I would be set at the time of the flashes. But now I see that triggers available on the market are not compatible with the 600, only with previous models of flash. And of course, I can't use the radio transmission of the 600 system, the 430 does not use it...

Is there anything at all that I can use the two flashes together?

    Thanks in advance!

The 600EX can be used to trigger the 430EX II wireless (optics) full ETTL mode.

  • Shooting 430 EX II remotely with 6 d

Well, after searching around I know this question has been asked by many. And I got some very useful information. However, I have not seen an answer to a simple question that always baffled me. When you photograph the 430 EX II remotely with a 6 d, is a receiver and a necessary issuer or just the transmitter? Is that in some cases both are needed? Help, please!

Recommendations for equipment that would also help would be appreciated.

The 430EX II is capable of being an "optical" slave (it's builtin... no extra accessories are needed if used with a 'master' cannon).  It cannot be a 'master '.  In other words, it will work as a detached flash he gets 'line of sight' camera 'master' according to trigger the flash.

The 6 d camera body is not a built-in 'trigger' (the 6 d is not a pop - up flash).

In which is the 'master' (trigger), you can use either:

    • ST - E2 Speelite Transmitter (this unit works as a 'master', but is not actually a flash.  There also a beam of the development of assistance to help them focus in the dark.)
    • 600EX-RT - this is lightning flaship of Canon.  It can be a trigger or a slave.  It can also work optically or by radio. It also has a focus-assist beam builtin.
    • 90EX - this is a very small, ultra-low power flash, but it can work as a master on the camera to trigger a remote slave flash

There are also third-party products that can act as a trigger and a receiver.  Some are expensive - and there are some more basic units which are relatively good cheap (but do not support E - TTL - flash would work as a 'manual' flash.)  Gun system supports E - TTL features.

The 430EX II will be more reliable if you point the bottom of the body to make in the face of the trigger on the device (and then enjoy the swivel head to point the head everywhere where you need light.)

  • The Canon 70 d remote flash trigger

Which Canon speed light will work off camera and be triggered by the functionality of firing the flash in camera remotely?

The native (built-in) flash trigger IS.  This is an optical trigger and requires line of sight to the off-camera flash.

The 430EX II can be a 'slave' (flash remotely triggered), but may not be a master.  The 580EX II can be a master or slave.  600EX-RT can also be a master or slave (and can no optical or by radio but radio requires a radio trigger - sells Canon a dedicated radio ST-E3-RT trigger or an another 600EX-RT flash can be used as a master/trigger.)

The built-in flash uses pulses of light (visible light) to communicate with slaves and relay instructions.  It is not infrared or radio.  But the receiver in the slave flashes is on the lower part of the body (not in the flash head upwards).  The front of the lower part of the body has a tint red Panel that resemlbes what you would see on an infrared remote - leading people to assume that it is IR it isn't visible - IR

If the remote light does not pull when the flash on the camera goes off then lower unit may not have good lighting of the view.  Keep in mind the 430EX II 580EX II and 600EX-RT that all have a flash head that can tilt AND turn left and right.  This means that you can rotate the lower part of the body of the flash so that it points to your camera, but always turn the head so that it points toward your subject.

  • Speedlite 600 ex - rt will work out 5 d Mark 111 without transmitter

Receipt of conflicting information.  can I buy a flash 600ex-rt and operate (flash) with it is not not in the shoe of my 5 d MIII and without radio transmitter?  example would be a person holding away from camera to fill flash or to produce light from a different angle.

Yes it can. It is basically the same as any pre 600 flash. No one knows when comes out the YN 600. I have the 600 and the STE3 and am very satisfied with the implementation.

    This could help.
