• Codes 8E5E0147 & 8E5E0152 with 5 important updates

  Widows Update says I have 5 important to install updates. However, when the updates begin to install, I get two errors:

  Code 8E5E0147 - Windows Update encountered an unknown error.
  Code 8E5E0152 - Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

  The updates are: KB982381, KB982525, KB982670, KB980248 and KB982519.

  I am running Windows Vista SP2.

  No one knows what is the cause?

  Try these steps and check the result.
  Step 1: Uninstall security running on computer software
  a. disconnect the Internet cable.
  b. uninstall the security software.
  See Uninstall or change a program
  c. once the software is uninstalled, restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
  d. start the computer in a clean boot and install the standalone update files. We assume that you already have that we downloaded in previous posts.
  e. once the update is uninstalled, restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
   
  NOTE: Don't forget to start the computer in normal mode by following step 7 in theclean boot article.
  Important: Reinstall the security software to avoid vulnerable attacks on the computer.
   
  Step 2: Perform in-place upgrade i.e. installation of Windows repair and install all the updates that are available on the computer.
  
  Important: upgrade in place will restore the computer to a State when you install Windows first. Will not suffer the programs installed on the computer. You will be prompted again to install all the updates that you installed previously. We recommend you to back up all data before you continue with the steps to run the wrong steps will remove the data from the computer.
   
  a. close all applications, insert the DVD into the DVD drive of the computer.
  b. in the settings window, click install now.
  c. click go online to get the latest updates for installation (recommended).
  d. type the CD key if you are prompted to do so.
  e. click Yes to accept the Microsoft software license agreement.
  f. on the type of installation do you want? screen, click upgrade.
  g. when the installation is complete, restart your computer.

• Windows update errors

  I have windows vista.   I tried to make my windows update, but fail because of 8E5E0147 and 8E5E0152 errors.  How can I fix this so I can update my windows.  I have 24 updates to do.  Thank you.  CR

  (And Norton) McAfee applications are known to not uninstall (or upgraded) themselves. Let's see if McAfee "leftovers" are the cause of the problem:

  1. download the McAfee Consumer Product Removal, save it to your desktop tool: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

  2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

  3. now run this triple McAfee fix: http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507

  NOTE: Step #2 McAfee fix run the removal tool, you have already downloaded in my step #1 above.

  4 IMPORTANT! => After the reinstallation of the McAfee application (step #3 of the McAfee fix), manually & repeatedly updated the McAfee application, until you get a prompt "no update more".

  5. open Internet Explorer (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 & run the difficulty.

  6. next, open Internet Explorer (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 & race that secure it in DEFAULT and modes and AGGRESSIVE. [1]

  7 restart a last time & test.
