A malware infection can allow someone to steal the OS product key

We bought a brand new emachines computer may 2011. It became badly infected the long side of the CPU being incredibly powerful. I could not upgrade the processor itself because it has been integrated on the motherboard.

Then I reinstalled the operating system after getting a new motherboard and processor. Everything else is the same exact parts. Same hard drive and all.

His PC was infected again and I had to rewipe the HARD drive and reinstall. But now the computer becomes a message that the product key is not valid and it cannot be a copy authentic. I was able to activate by phone immediately after the installation and he said it succeeded, this happens with the old card mother and cpu too.

So could you stole the key and use it now after that it has been infected either time?

Operating system is Windows 7 Home premium.

No, its unlikely that the product key has been stolen and you may experience issues related to product key used on a different motherboard, although they might be similar models.

  • Can't download Windows 7 Pro 64 bit Disc Images (ISO files) with the license product key

A few months ago, I bought a laptop with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit pre-installed, used with supplied installation disc. There is a hologram sticker COA affixed to the laptop with a product key. I used this key to activate the phone without problem. I was then able to install SP1 and various other updates over time.

Recently, I decided that I should have a Windows installation disc (Windows Update has slowed to a crawl and doesn't, and I maybe to repair or reinstall it with the disk).

I have entered my product key on Microsoft Web page to 'Download the Windows 7 disc Images (ISO files)'. But I got an error message:

"The product key you have entered seems to be for software pre-installed by the manufacturer of the device. Contact the manufacturer of the software device for recovery options. »

Running 'Winver' shows that my product is authorized.

Running "slmgr.vbs - dli" shows the partial product key and license status "allowed."

How can I download an installation image for the s/w Windows 7 that I activated?

    Thanks for your help.

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

Recovery plant, using the partition HD or the manufacturer disks you generated when you 1st got the laptop do not require a key, because it's built. Some manufacturers may provide this disk set at a cost.

Very rarely the manufacturers will be keeping a record of the key that they provided with the laptop and that provide a proof of purchase.
