A simple stored procedure - select with an if statement returning a cursor

Hello

I am creating a simple stored procedure, but having never worked with them, before that I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Here is my code:

create or replace
procedure contact_return(
v_contact_id IN varchar2,
p_cursor OUT SYS_REFCURSOR)
AS
begin

set sql_statement varchar2(4000) := '
SELECT URN,
FIRSTNAME,
LASTNAME,
TITLE,
CREATED_DT,
AREA_URN,
MOBILE,
WORK,
EMAIL,
ORG_NAME,
ADDRESS,
POSTCODE,
IN_USE
FROM CONTACT';

if v_contact_id is not null then
sql_statement := sql_statement || ' where urn = ' || v_contact_id;
end if;

open p_cursor for sql_statement;
end;

It is actually 2 errors:

• Error (7.3): PL/SQL: statement ignored
• Error (7.7): PL/SQL: ORA-00922: missing or invalid option

That seems to be a problem with my line fixed sql_statement, but it looks good for me?

Thank you

Do not know what language you are trying to use there for your variable declarations, but it is not PL/SQL. Looks like you're mixing SQL * more syntax with PL/SQL UltraLite or something.

Something more in this sense is perhaps what you are looking for...

create or replace procedure contact_return (v_contact_id IN varchar2

p_cursor ON SYS_REFCURSOR

) AS

sql_statement varchar2 (4000): = '

SELECT THE URN,

FIRST NAME,

LASTNAME,

TITLE,

CREATED_DT,

AREA_URN,

MOBILE,

WORK,

E-mail

NOM_ORG,

ADDRESS,

Zip code

IN_USE

CONTACT

where urn = nvl(:1,urn)';

Start

Open the p_cursor for sql_statement using v_contact_id;

end;

• simple stored procedure

Hello

I'm new to stored procedures. I am trying to write a stored procedure that returns only the result of a statement select.

I wrote the below without compilation error:
create or replace procedure test_select
(number, x y out varchar2) is
Start
Select isbn in x from books where isbn = y;
end test_select;
/

When I call the procedure, I get an error:
SQL > call the test_select (2);
call the test_select (2)
*
ERROR on line 1:
ORA-06553: PLS-306: wrong number or types of arguments in the call to 'TEST_SELECT '.

Here is a description of the table 'books ':
TITLE VARCHAR2 (60)
AUTHOR VARCHAR2 (60)
ISBN NOT NULL NUMBER (10)
PUB_DATE DATE

Thanks in advance,
Justine.

Hi Justine,.

you stated a procedure with two parameters and you call it from a single (no matter that the second is RELEASED, you must pass it as well)

The simplest approach would be to use a function instead:

create or replace function test_select (number of y) return varchar2 is
x varchar2 (20);
Start
Select isbn in x from books where isbn = y;
Return x;
end test_select;

and try out it:
Select test_select (2) double

Hello

Try this:

SQL> select text from USER_SOURCE

2  where name = UPPER('Insert_Profilebasicdetail')

3  order by line;

• ODP 12 c version 3 with EF 6.1.1 I can't add Stored Procedure of a package to my model

I use the ODP 12 c Release 3 (12.1.0.2.1), with Entity Framework 6.1.1 with the first database in MS Visual Studio 2013 update 4

I have a MVC 5 (.Net Framework 4.5.2) project that connects to Oracle 11 G R2 Database server, an existing database (Tables, views and a pack of Stored procedures)

I can add tables and use them successfully in my model
I can add a simple stored procedure

Here's the problem:
I have my .edmx file right click and click on "update model from database...". «, on the 'Add' tab, I chose «Stored procedures and functions»
I can see the list of procedures stored in the package (format packageName.usp) and check the box for the stored procedure of my package, then click 'Finish' to start the update process.

No stored procedures have been added to my Model.Store

The only possible exit I get the 'entity data model' is:
Generated template file: Model1.edmx.
Loading metadata from the database took 00:00:00.5803351.
The model generation took 00:00:00.3761861.

How to add a stored procedure from a package with the Entity Framework 6.1.1?

I found the answer.

When in the edmx model and you right click "Update Model database.

Uncheck "Import selected stored procedures and functions in the entity model", select the package and update procedures. (It works)

Then in "Model Explorer" under "Model. Store\ stored procedures/functions" you will see your procedures in the package (finally). Then their card in "Function Imports".

I don't understand why unchecking import stored procedures works, but it does.

I also found easier to simply call the procedure directly and not using Entity Framework, as all my procedures are: insertion, update and deletions and not all parameters mapped on the model for the view.

• execution of stored procedure in sql developer/sql more with a table setting?

Hello

I create a package with a procedure which has a cursor ref as output and a type as an input parameter. Here is my definition of the package

PACKAGE
-------
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE TEST
As
TYPE RefCursorType IS REF CURSOR;
type intTableType is table of varchar2(50) index by binary_integer;

PROCEDURE GETDATA (
P_RECORDS OUT RefCursorType,
YEAR_LIST IN intTableType
);
END;

PACKAGE BODY
-----------------------

SET DEFINE OFF
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY TEST
AS
PROCEDURE GETDATA
(
P_RECORDS OUT RefCursorType,
YEAR_LIST IN intTableType
)
AS
iYearList  IDTableType;
BEGIN
--GET ARRAY COUNT
IYEARLIST := IDTABLETYPE();
IYEARLIST.EXTEND(YEAR_LIST.COUNT);

--LOOP THROUGH LISTS AND POPULATE ARRAY
FOR I IN YEAR_LIST.FIRST .. YEAR_LIST.LAST
LOOP
IYEARLIST(I) := IDTYPE(TO_CHAR(YEAR_LIST(I)));
END LOOP;

OPEN P_RECORDS FOR
SELECT CITHTML AS FORMATTED
FROM dbTest.FORMATTED_HTML
WHERE YEAR IN (SELECT * FROM TABLE(IYEARLIST))
;
END GETDATA ;
END TEST ;
/

I want to perform this procedure from the sql or sql developer more to see if it works properly. The year field dbTest.FORMATTED_HTML is defined as varchar2 (20 bytes). He has many years as well as text.

I've used this in the past with simple stored procedures, but not those with a table setting

var r refcursor;

exec GETOLDDATA(:r,40);

print r;

How can I modify this to allow him to run my stored procedure?

Thank you

Just declare SQL, not type of PL/SQL:

CREATE OR REPLACE

TYPE Str50TblType

AS THE TABLE OF THE VARCHAR2 (50)

/

CREATE OR REPLACE

THE TEST PACKAGE

IS

GETDATA PROCEDURE)

P_RECORDS ON SYS_REFCURSOR,

YEAR_LIST IN Str50TblType

);

END;

/

CREATE OR REPLACE

TEST OF PACKAGE BODY

IS

GETDATA PROCEDURE)

P_RECORDS ON SYS_REFCURSOR,

YEAR_LIST IN Str50TblType

)

IS

BEGIN

OPEN P_RECORDS

FOR

SELECT CITHTML AS FORMATTED

OF dbTest.FORMATTED_HTML

WHERE YEAR IN)

SELECT *.

TABLE (YEAR_LIST)

);

GETDATA END;

END TEST;

/

SY.

• How to call a stored procedure with a REF CURSOR output parameter

I'm looking forward to example calling a function/stored procedure with a REF CURSOR output parameter and get the result.
In other words, I have a stored function/procedure that runs a SELECT statement using the OCI library and then he could get the values of each row and each column.

I put a code snippet, it have only the main thing to call a simple stored procedure and to print the name of each column of the cursor, but I couldn t to print out values in the table that calls the stored procedure.
I understand that the next step is to call an OCIStmtFetch.
How to associate the slider with the OCIStmtFetch?

If you need more information, just tell me.

I use ANSI C with HP - UX (HP - UX C) operating system and Oracle 10 g.

Kind regards.

Hi Antonio,.

I see this:

c_buf=(ub1 **)calloc(sizeof(ub1 *),3);

...

rc=OCIDefineByPos(pOciStatCursor,&pdef,(OCIError *)pOciError,pos,c_buf[pos-1],size+1,(ub2)type,(dvoid *)c_indp[pos-1],(ub2 *)0,(ub2 *)0,OCI_DEFAULT);

That I don't understand. You allocate space for 3 pointers ub1 but I don't see where these pointers are then initialized to point to where the data is to be stored.

I do not read correctly?

Sorry for posting code long, but here is an example of code that I have. It is much more 'code' for your code, but maybe that will be enough...

NOTE: This is just the code example and not rigorous. For example, I don't check the memory, allocations etc in this code!

Kind regards

• A stored procedure with input & output parameter as XML

Hello

I have a requirement in which I need to have a stored procedure accepts with huge XML from Java and MS a process all the records in the XML file and return the output with a few messages inside XML.

CurrentY, I have a stored procedure to process the xml code stored in the Oracle database.

I am using the following SQL statement to read data from the XML column.
select xmltest1.id,xmltest1.name
from xmltest,
XMLTABLE(
XMLNamespaces(default 'syncpsna/schemas'),
'/XMLTestRequest/insert/row'
PASSING xmltest.data_xml
COLUMNS
"ID" number(10) PATH 'id',
"NAME" varchar2(50) PATH 'name') xmltest1
where xmltest.id = 2;
I want to run similar queries to retrieve data from the XML passed as parameter of entry of JAVA.

If I could get some examples to read the XML and return the xml to the calling program.

Concerning

I can run the query to extract the different sections in the xml file when the XML is stored in a table column. How can do the same thing on XML passed as an input parameter.

Pretty much the same path, using the clause of PASSAGE.
Assuming that the input XML is passed as parameter 'p_inputXML', you can do:

SELECT x.id
, x.name
FROM XMLTable(
XMLNamespaces(default 'syncpsna/schemas'),
'/XMLTestRequest/insert/row'
PASSING p_inputXML
COLUMNS
"ID"   number(10)   PATH 'id',
"NAME" varchar2(50) PATH 'name'
) x
;

• Run the statement in a stored procedure with Out parameters and

Hi all

I have a stored procedure that calls a select statement. Here it is...

CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE BLABLA_VIEW_PROCEDURE

* (BLABLA_KEY IN NUMBER, *)
XML_OUTPUT ON VARCHAR)
AS
BEGIN
SELECT SYS. XMLTYPE.getStringVal (OBJECT_VALUE) in XML_OUTPUT FROM BLABLA_VIEW WHERE extractValue (OBJECT_VALUE, ' / BLABLA_TYPE/BLABLA_KEY ') = 2876;
END;

Is to have both IN and OUT parameters as described above. I am able to compile and run the procedure.

The problem I want to share with everyone is...
I want to run the stored procedure together with a single EXEC command.

I tried different ways using the EXEC command but of no use.

Could someone help me?
Thanks in advance.

VARCHAR is not a valid TYPe to declare. Use VARCHAR2 (nnn) where nnn is a number.

• call a stored procedure with OUT VARCHAR2 parameter fails

Hi all

I use the Oracle 11.2.0.1 version OLE DB provider. I have a simple stored procedure that contains a VARCHAR2 OUT parameter:

create or replace procedure TestOut (RESULT_CODE OUT VARCHAR2) is
Start
RESULT_CODE: = 'X '.
TestOut end;

The following c# code piece fails:

String ConnStr = "Provider = OraOLEDB.Oracle; User ID = test; Password = test; Data Source = sandbox; « ;
OleDbConnection Conn = new OleDbConnection (ConnStr);
Conn.Open ();
OleDbCommand Cmd new OleDbCommand();
Cmd.Connection = Conn;
OleDbParameter Param = Cmd.CreateParameter ();
Param.ParameterName = "RESULT_CODE ';
Param.Direction = System.Data.ParameterDirection.Output;
Param.OleDbType = OleDbType.BSTR;
Param.Size = 1;
Cmd.Parameters.Add (Param);

Cmd.CommandType = System.Data.CommandType.Text.
Cmd.CommandText = "{TESTOUT (?). CALL} ";
Cmd.ExecuteNonQuery ();

If the stored procedure is modified to contain an OUT parameter, the same code works, after you change the type of parameter to appropriate OleDBType (OleDbType.SmallInt).

What am I doing wrong when handling OUTPUT VARCHAR parameters? Y at - there any limitation on the types of parameters stored procedure using the Oracle OleDB provider?

I get an access violation, using 11202. What do you get?

In any case, it works fine for me using OleDbType.VarChar instead of OleDbType.BSTR.

Hope this helps, comments welcome.

• SQL stored procedure input and output parameters

Hello Gang,

My dead end trying to call a stored procedure in SQL Server 2008 with the LV database tool.

for purposes of experimentation, I've created a small procedure with an input parameter that returns an integer as return value. It works describing a query, but all attempts at LV produce an error-2147217900 when executing query VI. I did find examples of that.

Sending a bunch of parameters to a stored procedure and checking the value of return seems to be pretty common stuff.

I'll appreciate any help.

Thank you

Roger

Hi Roger,

There are a few prerequisites which I will list below. If you have not checked these things, so don't hesitate, as your hiccups can be there.

Prerequisites:

1. Ensure that you can read from a table in the database to verify that you can access the database (user permissions) and ensure that your login details are correct. Among other things, make sure that the. DSN switches to the correct database. (See the simple example below, SQL Select.vi)
2. Make sure that your user (if you use SQL authentication) has permissions to run the STORED procedure by running the procedure in SQL Server Management Studio (you seem to have already done this)

Example by calling a procedure without parameters (attached as SPROC_No_Parameters.vi):

Example by calling a procedure with parameters (attached as SPROC_Parameters.vi):

An article on the execution of stored procedures is here:

http://digital.NI.com/public.nsf/allkb/07FD130746083E0686257300006326C4

Don't forget to download the example VI since it includes the cases where you want an output parameter of the procedure rather than a table.

I tested these against two very simple SPROCs and it worked fine (on SQL Server 2005, but 2008 should be the same). Stored procedures have been:

CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo]. [GetContacts]

AS
BEGIN
-SET NOCOUNT ON added to avoid additional results sets from
-interfering with SELECT statements.
SET NOCOUNT ON;

-Controls insert for procedure here
SELECT * FROM Contacts
END

and

CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo]. [MultiplyAges]
@param1 INT = 1
AS
BEGIN
-SET NOCOUNT ON added to avoid additional results sets from
-interfering with SELECT statements.
SET NOCOUNT ON;

-Controls insert for procedure here
SELECT (age * @param1) OF Contacts
END

I would like to know if these examples work for you or if you have any other questions. Don't forget to go through this KB article and articles related to it, they should cover other situations.

• Understanding stored procedures

Hello

Oracle 11.2.0.0.2

I am trying to learn how stored procedures to use them later in the future web applications. I was going through some documentation and found a simple stored procedure and I just wanted to see if someone could help to clarify if I understand how this stored procedure is supposed to work.

TRIGGER XXX_TEST CREATE create a trigger with the name of XXX_TEST

BEFORE INSERT Execute the trigger before it runs the command INSERT

ON f.w5 FOR EACH ROW, do something "for each line' which is 'on' the table w5 belonged f schema

START the starting point of the orders which will take place within this block

Select count (1) IN the rt of 1934_e.doc where: new. U0 = docnum and 'AA' = a1 and a2 = 'DR' and a3! = « Z »)) ; Select all the records and put new 'in' the variable doc table belonging to f, where rt. U0 variable equals the docnum and column a1 is equal to 'AA' and column a2 is equal to 'DR' and a3 is not equal to 'Z'

IF rt > 0 THEN conditional statement, if the rt variable is greater than 0, then below that

: new.pt: = 9 | substr (PT 2); concatenation of the variable which is set to match the 9

: new. U1: = 'UNFAIR '; sets the variable: new. U1: equal to 'EVIL'

END IF; end of the conditional statement

delete from f.w5 where substr (pt, 1, 1) = 9 and U1 = "UNFAIR." delete records from table w5 belonged to f where substring value 9 starting at position 1 with a length of 1 is equal to 9 and U1 is equal to 'FALSE'

END; the point of arrival of the "BEGIN"

The part that I'm not sure of is the IF / END IF block. I read that the | means the concatenation, but I don't really know what or why it is concatenation. Another explanation is appreciated! Thank you.

Hello

You have understood about correctly.

There are many errors in this code. For example, he referred to the local variables, rt and pt, but these variables are not defined anywhere. For example, in the assignment you intrigued plus:

: new.pt: = 9 | substr (PT 2);

: NEW.pt initially made reference (rightly) of a column in the current insertion, but pt near the end line (without: NEW.) reference a local variable and I do not see where all the local variables are currently reported. Perhaps the one who wrote this means use; NEW.pt in both places.

SUBSTR (pt, 2)

means the part of string pt starting with his 2nd character, so

'9' || SUBSTR (pt, 2)

a copy of the pt, but with its first character replaced by "9".

Why the trigger would do this? Your guess is as good as mine. Apparently, the pt of the column is a kind of code, and the first character of the code is supposed to be "9" If there is no line in the table corresponding to the column of u0, doc and met certain other conditions, at the point where this line was inserted.

(The | operator expected strings before and after it.) If you use a NUMBER, such as 9, in a place where one expects a string, such as '9', Oracle will automatically convert the NUMBER to a string, but it is advisable to use the correct data in type.)

Moreover, another error in this trigger is that he tries to DELETE rows from the same table that is based on. A FOR EACH ROW trigger on tble f.w5 can't even read other f.w5 lines, let alone delete them.

• helps the stored procedure

Hi all
I am creating a simple stored procedure that updates a table which has initially been removed

CREATE PROCEDURE CLASSTEST_01 IS
BEGIN

delete from temp_test_01;

Select * from TEMP_CLASS_SCORE in temp_test_01;
END CLASSTEST_01;

However, it will not create.
Pls can someone check if there is something wrong with the statement
Thank you

There is no need of stored procedure. All you need is:

delete from temp_test_01;
insert into temp_test_01 select * from TEMP_CLASS_SCORE;

Or:

truncate table temp_test_01;
insert into temp_test_01 select * from TEMP_CLASS_SCORE;

But if you decide to create one:

CREATE OR REPLACE
PROCEDURE CLASSTEST_01
IS
BEGIN
delete from temp_test_01;
insert into temp_test_01 select * from TEMP_CLASS_SCORE;
END CLASSTEST_01;
/

• Cursor to another stored procedure return package

Hello
I am new to Oracle, and I have the following problem:

I have a slider in a package that is defined like this:
create or replace
PACKAGE 'TestPACKAGE' AS
DOWNLOAD_CURSOR cursor's select A.* from A Table1, Table2 B
END TestPACKAGE;
In reality, there is more than one package with different cursors. I want to use this DOWNLOAD_CURSOR in a stored procedure, function, or another package, to return to the client in a ref cursor
Something like this:
create or replace
procedure aa_test (retCURSOR to sys_refcursor) is
Start
retCURSOR: = TestPACKAGE.DOWNLOAD_CURSOR;
end;
or replace this procedure with another method to return data and use in a .NET application.

961449 wrote:
There are so any solution to access TestPACKAGE. DOWNLOAD_CURSOR to .NET web application. I found how to access a stored procedure that returns a ref cursor
And the package cannot be change, add a stored procedure that returns a ref cursor

In this case, it is not possible. Your .NET code cannot directly access the static cursor declaration, because at this point it's just a statement, not an open cursor.
Cursors declared that are opened using the PL/SQL code, using the OPEN cursor_name statement or variable IN the syntax of other cases.
.NET and other external applications require a ref Cursor, so the only way you can get this query in a Ref cursor is to open the ref cursor in the query itself.

• Select problem with a statement in the stored procedure oracle

Hi guys,.

I am new to oracle. I have a simple sql stored procedure that needs to be converted to oracle. The procedure is,

CREATE PROCEDURE my_procedure
Char (4) @my_var = null
AS

Select * from my_table where my_variable = @my_var

I converted this SP as oracle and the convert SP is,

create or replace
My_procedure PROCEDURE
(
v_my_var in CHAR DEFAULT NULL
)
AS

BEGIN

SELECT * FROM my_table WHERE my_variable = v_my_var;

END;

But the SP above returns an error (Error (13.3): PLS-00428: an INTO clause in the following SELECT statement) when compiling.

So I used the slider to get the results and send back them. Updated the SP is,

create or replace
My_procedure PROCEDURE
(
v_my_var in CHAR NULL by DEFAULT,
cv_1 ON SYS_REFCURSOR
)
AS

BEGIN

OPEN cv_1 to SELECT * FROM my_table WHERE my_variable = v_my_var;

END;

Now, the SP is compiled successfully and return the result set correctly. My doubt is,
What is the right way to solve the problem that I mentioned above? Is there another way to get the select query result without using a cursor?

Please advice. Thank you for your help in advance.

Depends on where you are calling from SP.
I assume you are using a windows client, as you referred to SQL Server.
The .NET Oracle provider, allowing return of pl/sql types and as you return only all columns in a single line, you could change your procedure to something like this:

create or replace procedure my_procedure(v_my_var in char default null
,cv_1     OUT my_Table%rowtype) as

rt my_table%rowtype;
begin

SELECT *
into   rt
FROM my_table
WHERE my_var = v_my_var;

cv_1 := rt;

END my_Procedure;

• disconnected rowset select CachedRowSet of a statement within the stored procedure?

Hello everyone

I'm using CachedRowSet returned from a parameterized select statement and it works very well.

If I put the same select statement in a simple read only then stored procedure I get this exception: "a result set has been generated for the update.

I'm not trying to update all lines in my code.

I tried to make the CachedRowSet to be read-only, but this does not help, same error.

Question 1: a stored procedure returns a single result set can be called to fill a CachedRowSet read-only? (in a similar way to a method of CallableStatement prepareCall with input/output settings).

Question 2: in general is something to be encouraged for future development or are they deprecated or replaced with something else or better using CachedRowSet, FilteredRowSet (disconnected) and WebRowSet, JDBCRowSet (connected)?

Thank you very much in advance

It work? (be sure that your stored procedure done * nothing * before running this query)

PreparedStatement p = conn.prepareStatement ("{call dbo.p_testCachedJDBCRowSet (?)}" ");

p.setInt (1, 10);

CRS CachedRowSetImpl = new CachedRowSetImpl();

CRS. Populate (p.ExecuteQuery ());
