  • I can't print the attachments to emails, but I can print Web pages.

I use Windows Mail and I have a laptop Dell 1545 and a Dell 968AIO wireless printer. I used to be able to print the attachments, but I reset my laptop back to factory settings and I was not able to print the attachments since. Any help would be appreciated. I'm fighting this market for months. Thanks Jim

Try hard wiring the printer to the laptop and see if you can get printing to work.  If yes then you need configure the printer again to work in wireless mode.  You may need to re-run the installation for her disc as you reset the laptop.

If you want to use Webmail and not Windows Mail, an e-mail client, just remove the Windows Mail account in tools | Accounts.
  • question about the inability to meet the Windows Mail links

I use Windows Vista, Microsoft 7.  A year ago I moved to a new location and subscribed to a new ISP.  I'm not changing my email provider preferred to Windows Live Hotmail and kept the same e-mail address.  However, I was never able to answer e-mail links, I get through links web page by e-mail, or in a specific instance of frustrating, their responses to a Yahoo Group that I belong to.  The e-mail program that opens isn't just Windows Mail, Hotmail.  When I click on the link provided I always get a message similar to the following: "task: send msg POP3 Local Area Network Failed." Details: Secure (SSL): no, Socket Error number 11001 error 0x800cc0D the host 'SMTP' could not be found. Please check that you have entered the server name correctly. Topic: test new downloaded OpenOffice org doc. POP3 ACCT: Server SMTP Protocol SMTP Port 25 ".  This has something to do with the fact that last February my hard drive has been damaged and I lost and do not re-install the Microsoft 2007 family and Student Edition and use Open Office.Org rather to my documents?  Is there a solution?

    Thank you.

is there a solution to my original problem?

It's hard to say. It depends on if this part of your description of symptoms is bad or just does not work properly:

The e-mail program that opens isn't just Windows Mail, Hotmail.

There is no support for what you do with a Hotmail account (unless just using Windows Live Hotmail as a mail client), so if you went on the forum WLSC that you have been referred to them could help you find a workaround.

    I don't know if WinMail still supports a connection to Hotmail very well. To do this, she will have to support the newer DeltaSync protoocol not the old WebDAV protocol. Outlook or WLMail would have better choices as default email for this client. Otherwise, you will need WinMail to connect to Hotmail as a POP3 account, and almost certainly not be able to do it using host names that you have tried. Yet once, find you better information and support for this on the WLSC. ; }

Otherwise you can always check for addressability and connectivity using this SMTP host name and port number. It's unusual, but not necessarily incorrect according to the DNS of your ISP. You can use telnet in a cmd window to perform such a check:

    Telnet smtp 25

and see if you get a prompt to enter a SMTP request. If you don't enter QUIT

  • How to hide all the future updates to the Windows Mail Junk e-mail filter?

Is it possible to automatically hide or ignore all future updates for Windows Mail Junk e-mail filter?

I don't have, and never plan to use Windows Mail, and I'm not sure that I could never be convinced that I should, someday.

Therefore, all the updates of Windows for this are very very little, but the update system keeps their important marking - so I have to hide them every time.

Is there a technique to automatically remove this update until it is important to my system?

I use Windows Vista Home Basic SP2.

No, you can not hide all the future updates Windows Mail Junk Email Filter. But here is a workaround:

1 configure automatic updates for the 'updates but let me choose... '. "setting.

    2. when an update of the Windows Mail Junk e-mail filter is available for your approval, thereafter, hide it.

  • Why I can't make backups of my Vista Windows Mail email files?

During the 3 years, when do backups, I just copied my "documents" folder in which I put my Windows Mail email folder. Never had a problem. Recently the file My last Email/Local Folders now refuses to copy. Explorer Windows try to copy it and at first it seems to work but while it starts at about 10 MB/sec it soon drops hyperbolically to zero, but never really gets there so everything hangs up. On 15 September, I made my last successful backup intact but since then, everything I tried failed. At first, I thought that files may not copy, because they are 'read only' files but of course this isn't. The files I copied successfully in my backups in September that all show an attribute "read only".

I'm sure that this occurred shortly after a Windows Vista security 'upgrade', but after being in the security settings and change many of them I have no results.
I recently had to use Internet Explorer for Google chrome and I don't have a gmail account if Microsoft & Google are not cohabiting in my computer. I ran into conflicts between IE and Chrome, especially when you try to print the email and web pages through our wifi HP network printer. Now my wife can not print at all. What is a part of the problem?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

For the printer part, WinMail uses the print engine that it is uses, adjust if margins and other in Internet Explorer to print in WinMail.

But the inability to copy the files suggest hard disk problems.  Try opening Windows Explorer, right click on the C drive and go to properties. Tools | Check out now and see if it finds problems.  You can also use the attempt to Windows Explorer to access the folders and messages to make sure there is no problem with access (try to copy directories message individually and perhaps you can distinguish a problem).  You can also try compacting and repairing the database of WinMail to ensure that it is not the question, but I doubt that this would be the case.

  • Cannot receive or send mail using the Windows Mail get 0x800CCC18 error number

How can I fix the problem?
Cannot receive or send mail using the Windows Mail get 0x800CCC18 error number
Windows mail was working fine until about 2: 30 EST 2011-12-14 and tried to send an email and got the above error msg.

Check with your mail service provider to make sure that there is not an intermittent interruption of service.  If you have webmail capabilities, you can also check.  Otherwise, compact and repair the database (www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/) and if that doesn't help, remove your e-mail account, close and reopen WinMail and then add it back back.  Also check 3rd party program interference such as antivirus software (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3).

  • Why have I lost icon paperclip on the Windows Mail Preview pane, and font is changed?

I suddenly lost the paper clip icon in the right corner of the Windows mail preview pane, and details giving email policies changed. Now I can't click the icon to see the attachments, but must open the e-mail and view attachments in this way.

Migration to Windows Live Mail is a possibility, Yes, but you must know that all is not necessarily well with IE9 installed either in Windows Live Mail: see http://answers.microsoft.com/thread/82750b30-a346-e011-9575-d8d385dcbb12

Support for IE8 will continue as long as the version of Windows, in which he is running is guaranteed (and support for Win7 will continue for many, many years until more recently released Service Pack is installed).

Same fo WinXP SP3 (and IE6, IE7 & IE8) Extended Support will continue until April 2014.

If the icon available in the preview pane trombone is so important to you, stay with IE8 in the foreseeable future.

And note that the attachments are always accessible in Windows Mail w/IE9 installed once you open the message. And if "read all messages in plain text" is turned on, the "bug of police" will not appear either.

  • Need to import contacts and messages saved from a Windows Mail email account to another

Recently changed ISPS but currently have two active accounts.  I would like to import/transfer saved messages and folders, and all contacts from the old account to the new account before the cancellation of the old account.  Both are configured through Windows mail.

In Windows Mail, messages, folders, and contacts are not related to any specific email account, so remove your old account won't affect.  To check that, I just removed all my Windows Mail accounts on a Windows Vista-based computer that I use for testing.  Messages, folders, and contacts are always there.

To be safe, you could back up the Windows Mail storage folder before deleting an account.

Windows Live Mail works differently and requires copy/move messages before deleting an account. Boulder computer Maven
